Grey Book Summary

E L James revisits the world of Fifty Shades with a deeper and darker take on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the globe.
Look for E L James’ passionate new love story, The Mister, available now.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

This book is intended for mature audiences.

Grey - E L James Book Reviews

  • If you loved Christian you will love this book (Carnage425)

I totally loved this book maybe more than 50 Shades. It was a wonderful new journey seeing the world from Christians POV. It truly help the reader to better understand him as a character. If possible I love him even more now.
  • Grey (SDinOC)

I read 50 Shades of Grey prior to knowing there was another version of the story, only told from Christian’s point of view. Although the story line is predictable after having read the first book, Grey fills in gaps that 50 Shades left the reader wanting to know about. For anyone who enjoyed 50 Shades of Grey, I suggest reading Grey as well to complete the basis of the trilogy.
  • Love the series (brit😁)

I looove this book. I wish she’d write the rest of his point of view. Especially when he lets her touch him. And when they have kids. I wanna know what that feels like to him.
  • So good (only1SDD38)

I’m absolutely in love with Mr Grey!
  • The ending (mommajanet)

I loved the ending of this book. For Christian to FINALLY realize that he CAN love Anastasia made this ending worth the whole book. Can’t wait to read the other books!
  • Pretty good (angel2034)

The overall book was great, but the whole storyline was way too dark. Normal BDSM relationships are never that dark. They’re just normal people that are into that stuff... you don’t need to have a screwed up past to like BDSM
  • Grey (Cedgo62)

I don’t have the words to express my delight!
  • Can’t wait till Freed comes out!!! (toshasl80)

  • I’m not a literary critic... (LadyHawke2006)

Nor am I a man. So I’m definitely not qualified to comment on James’s writing in the male voice. What I am is a fan of the FIFTY SHADES books... Faults and flaws included!!!!!! I found it extremely informative to hear this story from Christian’s perspective!!!!!! GREY illuminated the inner turmoil that Christian is experiencing on his journey with Ana. The journey that awakens his humanity... His HEART!!!!!! And the irony is not lost that it took an innocent, inexperienced wide eyed girl with an open heart to open his!!!!!! If you’re a fan of the FIFTY SHADES books, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with GREY!!!!!! My only regret is that there’s nothing more to read... That their story ends with FIFTY SHADES FREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy reading...
  • Can’t wait (des2022)

A book I can’t wait to sink into

  • Grey (Cams C)

I love this book.... it painted a better picture for me
  • Horrible ending! (Manders945)

Love this book series. Only giving three stars because of how she left the book. It was like she just stopped typing and called it a wrap. Disappointed. Up until the ending it's an excellent read though!
  • Christian Grey (Nalabearx3)

I agree with the others, this book is exactly the same as the fifty shades of grey. Only in Christan's words. I think the words he uses turns me on more when talking about Ana more so then the first book. I don't think it was a waste of money but I do think it leaves you hanging wanting more. That's the most terrible thing, when a book leave you with unanswered questions. I love the fifty shades trilogy, this could of been written better I think this book should of answered all the questions from the first three and it didn't.
  • Grey (Qubanita2011)

Awsome book cant wait till the other ones come out
  • LOVED (Lacey2014)

Yes, it's a lot like the first book.. BUT that's because you get the entire first book with HIS EMOTIONS & His point of view!!! And that was SO MUCH FUN to read!! 100% would recommend it If you loved Mr. Grey!! Waiting for the next two in his point of view!!!
  • Great reading (Stellaluna808)

It's been a while since I put down the original Fifty shades series.. This book was a welcome reading experience! It was quite intriguing to see it from Christians point of view.. I absolutely enjoyed it and really can't wait for the sequel..
  • More Grey (Jamie Tinker)

Waiting impatiently for Grey Darker and Grey Freed
  • Sooooo Good!!! (LKBing)

I really enjoyed reading this from Christians POV. I hope we get to read the other two books from his POV!!!
  • YES!!! (Mandycandypants)

    Totally enlightened!
  • Great (Stefany high)

    What an awesome book.

  • Oh my gawd (Pipes likes)

  • Fifty shades of grey (Veroizzy)

Great book from his side of the story.
  • Loved it (Peggygirl)

I loved reading this book from Christian's perspective. I think women always see things slightly differently from men. This book is the same yet so different from the first Fifty Shades. I hope that EL James listens to her readers and "finally" publishes the next two instalments from Grey's perspective. We certainly have asked over and over and over. I know many are hoping it will magically be revealed on Christian's birthday as the last one was, but I have a feeling everyone is going to be disappointed. Hopefully, the author won't disappoint her readers for too much longer before they lose interest.
  • Interesting perspective (01134556)

It's good to have Christian's perspective. I hope for the same with darker and freed.
  • In Grey's Own Words (KimRayk)

Loved it! Grey's version of 50 shades was so intense! I can't wait to hear his side of Darker and Freed!
  • Not bad (ShellzKDee)

This book was actually still as exciting from Grey's point of view as it was Ana's. I enjoyed the read. I did get a bit bored towards the end, but that was probably because I already knew what was coming next.
  • Loved hearing his perspective (TAW13)

Don't know why people are shocked that it's the same events but his thoughts. If the story were different it wouldn't be their story. I loved reading what he thought but was sad as the book ended at a different place than Ana's version of it did. Can't wait for more!!
  • Love thissss ☺️☺️☺️ (Nyeka22)

I'm never the one to enjoy reading or hearing about bdsm but this book changed me 👌🏾
  • Xxiting reading. Great (Luna7047)

    Waiting for next one
  • Grey 2 (@xjosiannemmf)

I seriously can't wait to read the second book with Christian's POV... I personally think it'll be the most emotional one... I don't want to wait another year :(
