A very well written book. Romesha is a very gifted writer. His account of the event that took place at COP Keating during the early days of October 2009 will forever be etched into my memories. I have a newfound sense of gratitude and thankfulness for our servicemen and women. Their courage, sacrifice, and love of country is truly unrivaled, and Romesha does an excellent job illustrating why. Thank you to all who have served or are currently serving.

True Bravehearts. I saw Clint speak in person about the events described in the book at a charity event benefiting veterans. I bought this book shortly thereafter. While the story is emotionally wrenching it is well worth it. Clint does a great job of taking you through what he and his brothers went through at COP Keating!

I felt I was at Camp Keating. This by far is one of the most addictive and engrossing battle narratives I have ever read. I got to know each and every hero especially those who gave it all. As a Vietnam Veteran I felt their pain. The photos really brought dimension to these brave men. Anyone who has not served should read this book. I think they would find new found respect for those who served. GOD BLESS AMERICA and OUR MILITARY

Amazing Book about real life superheroes!. What a well written book about such a complex and unorganized situation. Couldn’t put this down. I’m amazed at the bravery of these heroes, what they did for all of us. We should prop them up and treat them with the honor they deserve. To the 8 men who didn’t make it, thank you!! And to all these soldiers, we appreciate you and the sacrifices you have made for all of us. Love this book & love our military!

Non stop action. The battle for FOP Keating was fearless attack against the Americans who at a cost defended and repelled the attack using superior skills and firepower. Good read!

Amazing and sad all at the same time. This book is by far the best I have read in a really long time. It may sound cliché but it really should be read by everyone. I would absolutely recommend it.

It will be made into a movie. While reading the book I could hear the narration, sort of in the style of "Goodfellas." I predicted movies for "Lone Survivor" and "American Sniper." I'm right about this.

Amazing!. As a combat vet in Nam, I have always wanted to find an author who "got it". Romesha has. I read many paragraphs 10 times or more, absolutely enthralled with his usage of words and phrases. This is a tale of raw, bloody violence but also a wonderful story of dedication, courage and sacrifice? Great job!

What an accomplishment!. The crisp lucidity of this account is a testament to a talented writer, inasmuch as the author’s humility is a credit to his character. His comrades are well served by this memorial to his and their courage in the face of an impossible tactical situation.

Riveting and Real. One of the most powerful, engrossing books I've ever read. I guess it was what they call a real page turner, because I couldn't put it down ... and when I did, I couldn't wait to get back to it. On one level, having been in the military without experiencing combat, it provided a kind of odd closure for me. On another level, it made me more keenly aware than I could have imagined of the daily sacrifices by those who protect the thin line between our way of life and those who would eagerly crush it beneath the weight of their perverted, medieval ideology. Most highly recommended for anyone who wants to understand the stuff of true heroes.

Very intense!. Probably the most intense, interesting, best and saddest book I have read. How did this guys do this?

Must Add For Your Reading List!!!!. This is the first non-fiction book I have ever read where I couldn't put it down until complete. I had to force myself to stop reading to get to sleep, were as, I usually read to fall asleep. After the first few pages, the author-a Medal of Honoree-embeds you into COP Keating as if you are his shadow. At times through the story (battle), I had to remind myself this was not fiction. The story illustrates how great our military might can be but how that this still cannot always overcome foolish leadership decisions and a stubborn adversary before the loss of one of our young soldiers. By the end of the story you can't help but be filled with sadness for the loss of those killed but you also are overcome by American pride for their courageous stand.

Must read. If you are here because you watched The Outpost, then you have to read this book.

Dont miss this book. I watched the movie " The Outpost" and was was left stunned, i then watched a documentary on netflix about Medal or honor recipients and found out that two men in that battle were recipients, Clinton Romesha being one of them and during his interview this book was mentioned, i purchased it and could not put it down. Thank you to all our service men and women i can never understand what you go through but books like this get me closer.

Too rare a view into military life. This book provides all too rare a glimpse into what it’s like to be in a military attack. Movies try to show us. This book made me feel like I was right there in Keating with them. The collective story of Red Platoon proved to be hard to put down and yet hard to read at the same time as the gruesome reality of what our soldiers face comes alive in text. And all for our collective benefit and our way of life that they all feel is worthy of protecting. Thank you men of Red Platoon! Thank you Clint Romesha.

Heartbreaking. Despite i'm not a US born,this book almost made me cry thinking about those soldiers looking for a way to survive with everything playing against,i'm mexican but I feel sorry about the dead and their families.god bless them all...

Wow! Great book!. I have read several military books! This one was the best! It will surely be a huge movie!!!

Be a better person. This book hit me very hard. I can only say after reading this book, as well as its how written and the amazing story, go. Live, and be the best you can possibly at everything you do. Because Soldiers and Law Enforcement every single day are giving everything up.

Great Book!. First off I'd like to thank the men and women that risk their lives to keep us safe and free. The book - this was a great read that was hard to read at times because of what the men of COP Keating had to endure. It was also hard to put down as well. In my mind I can't imagine what those men went through. While I've never been in the military I do feel that I have a great deal of common sense. For the life of me I can't figure out why we'd put our guys into a situation that spells DOOM. God bless you all and thank all of our veterans out there.

Great book. Awesome book!

Sobering and well written story. This book gives a detailed account of the all out assault that took place on COP Keating in Afghanistan. SSG Romesha takes you into the chaos of what him and his brothers experienced on that day but tells his story in such a way that you build a clear picture of it. You won't want to put the book down.

Red Platoon. This is an awesome read. I so appreciate all of you men who helps us stay free. I felt the pain you had to go thru when you lost your friends. It had to be so hard to go on for such along time. I can understand PTSD more than I did before. You all did an awesome job and it the very best you could. Your friends that was killed are proud of each and everyone of you they was already in heaven cheering you all to complete the mission. Love you guys.
