Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead by Christiana Miller Book Summary

A little magic can go a long way -- to really screwing up a girl's life!

Mara is having the worst month of her life. At least, that's what her cards tell her and they've never been wrong. She's evicted from her apartment, loses her job and is banned from Beverly Hills. So when the tarot cards predict her imminent demise, she uses a little magic to make her world right.

Suddenly, an aunt she's never met dies, leaving Mara as her sole heir. But when Mara moves into her inherited home, she discovers Aunt Tillie never moved out. She's still one pissed-off old lady, even post-mortem, and she blames Mara's magical meddling for her death.

When Mara accidentally releases a demon and awakens the spirit of the most powerful witch in history, Tillie's ready to kill her -- literally. It's the only way she can think of to save the girl from herself. The witch and the demon, however, have other plans for Mara's body!

NOTE: Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead is a quirky urban fantasy that mixes humor, suspense and witchcraft. It contains language and adult situations and is not suitable for children.

Good Read. A fun, easy read with very likable characters. I would definitely recommend it.

Somebody tell Aunt Tully she’s dead. A wonderful, captivating, iminanating read!! I loved it & will probably read it again

Engaging story, comma use needs work. I bought the second in the series because I like the plot, characters, and story very much. The quirky characters are fun to spend time with. It was a conscious decision to buy the next book because the comma use is way off, a common but irritating fact in self publishing. Grammar is a big part of writing and is often ignored by the storyteller. I'm hoping for better in Book Two, Don't Tell Tilly She Overused Her Commas. Good luck with your future stories. I'm going to stick with you and see how it goes. :)

Aunt Tillie she’s dead. This was a great read & kept my interest all the way through. Definitely not a book for children. I would recommend open minded adults to read this story. 12 30 2023 Camie12

Second time through.... So I read this book (& the rest of the series) a couple of years ago. Couldn’t find a good read so I decided to read again and get a fill of some LOL humor w Gus & Mara. I love their banter-it’s just enough without being too over the top to be believable! This book keeps the pace and keeps the reader engaged. I loved it even more the 2nd time! If I remember how much I loved a book from about 4 years ago, that says a lot! Loved it and love it again! Kudos to the author for these amazing characters!

A journey to remember. Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead, by Christiana Miller, is the first book in the Toad Witch Mystery Series. Mara Stephens, untrained witch and tarot card reader, has pulled three tarot cards in honor of her 27th birthday, none of which were what she had hoped for or expected. They indicated transformation, sorrow, and change through destruction. And then things start happening! Soon after Mara receives an eviction notice she learns that her Aunt Tillie has died and left her the family home. However, the home is in Wisconsin and she lives in Los Angeles. After a series of unfortunate events, her best friend Gus, convinces her that the only answer is to take her inheritance and Mara sets off for Devil's Point. Once she arrives, she encounters a variety of spirits that seem to have their own ideas for Mara's future. This story is well written with engaging characters, plenty of otherworldly events, some mild violence that is more eluded to than described in detail, and an endearing friendship that results in saving Mara from her own folly. If you want an excursion into another realm told with humor and spun creatively, this series is a must.

Suspenseful and fun read. This was a lovely, funny, sometimes dramatic story with believable characters and a well-described story all around. I’m anxious to see what happens with Mara & Gus next! 4.7/5⭐️

Hm, I can't believe I read the whole thing.. Okay seriously I did read the whole thing. Very cute, adored Mara and Gus but some of the whole "I am witch, hear me roar" seemed a little over kill. Loved the characters and the story line. Wish we could have more Aunt Tillie on center stage...maybe in the next novel. Great job.

Entertaining. A little confusing but entertaining.

Okay. It was a little longer than necessary and a little weird for my taste. The best friend was my favorite character. The main character vacillated between being somewhat overly freaked out about some events to not being scared of obviously bad situations. It was decent enough to finish but I wouldn't read another one.

Amazing. Very good book detailed and all can't wait to buy the other series ❤️❤️ I truly loved it ❤️❤️❤️❤️

GREAT BOOK!!!!. It has taken me so long to finish reading this book, because of life's twists and turns, but what a great read!!! I've kept coming back and kept coming back to read a page here and there!!! I love it! Entertaining, joy, fun, love, romance, anger, sadness! You hit every emotion I have!

Amazing!. I love this series I’ve never been much of a reader but this has kept me interested for months now.

Very enjoyable!. It was laugh out loud at times. I am considering spending my hard earned cash on the next book in the series, and I don't usually do that unless I really liked the book .....and I really liked this book!

Too poorly edited to follow. Couldn’t finish it, it didn’t make sense - sad because the writing style was good

Loved it!!. I think I might’ve found a new series to read! I fell in love with these characters and can’t wait to read the next installment!

Somebody tell Aunt Tillie She’s Dead. What a romp! Raises itchy questions about “reality”!

Excellent. A very fun book to read. Interesting characters & good plot line.

Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She’s Dead. Love the start of book in L.A. witchery. Good way to introduce the characters and their powers. Look forward to see if Paul is reintroduced in future books. His human self seemed a good contrast to Mara and Gus’s witch personas. I recommend this book and author!

Dumb main character. Not sure why this book has such great reviews... The main character is one of the dumbest to star in a book. I couldn't even finish it. I hate when books have leads that do everything outrageously stupid over and over again. Like you know there's a bad guy out to get you so you decide to meet up with him alone and without telling anyone where you're going or what you're doing. 🙄 This main character cannot manage to even pick something up off the floor without slicing open a hand or falling down a stairwell. Not to mention she's a witch with magical powers but every bad omen or scary thing she sees out of the corner of her eye is somehow just her imagination or a bad dream that couldn't possibly mean anything. I just wanted to smack her. I saw there's a second book so my hopes of her demise will go unfulfilled. Too bad.

I enjoyed this unusual book but I am kind of weird. I had never read any of this author’s books before. So I did not know what to expect. Very lively story telling! Look forward to more of her stuff!

Loved it!. Just the best distraction while recuperating in the hospital. Will definitely be getting the rest of the series!

Great Read!. Story flows great! I can't wait to start the next one. The characters have great personality and it's an easy ready you won't want to put down. The humor adds to the personality of the story and the characters. I don't often read books like this one but I'm super excited to have found this author. I only found a couple grammatical errors which seems to be a big problem with e-books.

Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead. I love Mara, Gus and Aunt Tillie! More Please

STIR THE CAULDRON. This was a fascinating journey into a minds whimsey. I enjoyed every twist and plot. I just happened to have an Aunt Tilley ,born on April 1st in the 20s. Everyone buckle up and enjoy the journey!!!

Great wee read!. If you can open your mind to a supernatural murder mystery, with a comedic spin, then you'll enjoy this no end.

Loved and read it in a day. Could not put it down and immediately bought the next book

Somebody tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead. There are some, rare, books when you can hear them being read out loud as you read them yourself. And there are some, even rarer, books when you can hear the characters speaking and picture them laughing. Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead is one of these even rarer books. A true delight from beginning to end, with a little bit of instruction on the way. Looking forward to more of the same.

L. Such a great read! Would find myself not wanting to put it down. So entertaining & fun to read.

Won't be bothering with the sequel.. Unless you're a witch and/or you're really into this far-fetched rubbish, leave it well alone. The story has nothing to keep the reader gripped, with intermittent child-like banter between the 2 main characters. Only finished the book in the hope it would get better...it didn't. The author would be better removing the 'adult' bits and changing it into a children's book.

Wonderful. Lovable characters, fast paced story. I really enjoyed this story. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series

I really loved this book. I enjoyed reading this book. It took me away deep into the life of the characters, I had trouble putting it down. Christiana Miller did fantastic work with this book.

Somebody tell Aunt Tillie She’s dead”. This was a fun book to read. Something in the story for everyone. Lots of sass, suspense, and even some sex tossed in. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. Larry

Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She’s Dead. I couldn’t put this book down, it was my only true joy in a horrible week I was having.

Aunt Tillie. I knew I'd love 'Somebody tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead' as soon as I read the description. I wasn't wrong. From the first chapter to the last it was even better than I imagined. Without a doubt, I will so be getting the second book. 'Tell Aunt Tillie we're in Trouble' just as soon as I can. AND, if anyone asks me about the author and the book, I'll drive them to the store to purchase the books. That's how much I enjoyed the first book! I urge all readers to buy these books. It won't be a waste of time or money.
