Protecting Caroline by Susan Stoker Book Summary

How far will one man go to save the life of a stranger? More importantly to Caroline, will he do it twice?

Matthew "Wolf" Steel hated flying commercial. Luckily his job as a Navy SEAL meant he didn't have to do it very often. He'd been unlucky enough to be assigned a middle seat on the cramped jet, but fortunately for him, the woman next to him was willing to switch seats with him. Hoping for a relaxing flight, Wolf was pleasantly surprised at the good conversation and sense of humor the woman had as they flew 36,000 feet over the countryside.

When Caroline boarded the plane to Virginia to move across the country for her new job she never expected to be seated next to the hottest guy she'd ever seen. She also never expected he'd be so easy to talk to. She knew he'd never be interested in talking to her if he hadn't been trapped in the seat next to her, but it was a nice way to spend a long plane ride.

Neither Wolf nor Caroline were prepared for a terrorist hijacking of their plane, but if Caroline thought that would be the last time she'd see, or need, Wolf, she'd be sorely mistaken.

**Protecting Caroline is a stand-alone love story. It's Book 1 in the SEAL of Protection Series.**

Protecting Caroline. This story kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Caroline and Wolfe were truly made for each other.

Protecting Alabama. Great reading.

Eh. Unrealistic dialogue, wordy, a key example of a writer who needs to learn the phrase “show, don’t tell,” that all high school creative writing teachers preach.

Protecting Caroline. Amazing read - amazing author!!! Love this series!

Couldn’t get through 2 chapters. It’s a great idea for a plot but the writing was so repetitive, I couldn’t get through two whole chapters.

A blast. This is the first book that I read of Susan’s that got me hooked! I told myself I wasn’t gonna buy any books, just was gonna read all the free ones… welp that hasn’t worked out at all! This book was amazing, I love how you made Caroline like an awkward thinker in the beginning. You hadn’t made her super outgoing and flirty, just a sweet, shy and helpful woman! Wolf on the other hand was pretty amazing too! He’s kinda all business first and ladies second in the beginning, but he was also worried in a way but not because of some unusual attraction but it seemed as if he genuinely cared to make sure that everyone was okay. I’ve read a lot of her other series as well and I appreciate the aspect of you making the leader find their gal first. That seems to get the ball rolling and I can appreciate that. It just clicks to be honest. If you’re looking for something that’ll get you hooked pick these series. No cliff hangers; just an appreciation of our military men, The hard work they do and a hope they’ll find amazing women to compliment them. I haven’t been paid to leave this review, I just really enjoyed these series and plan to spend my paychecks on them!

Love. Loved the characters and the story line! Wish there was more steamy romance :(

Caroline. Can’t get past chapter 4.

Sweet story. I loved the characters, all of them.

Protecting Caroline. This was a great read which I thoroughly enjoyed. I quickly got caught up in the story and finished the book in one day! I could relate to Caroline even though I’m not sure I could keep as level headed as she! She had a strong no-nonsense do what you have to do attitude to protect those around you. Add some Navy SEALs and what more could you want!

Protecting Carolyn. Oh my gosh what a wonderful story!!! Loved every minute of it.

Exciting. I couldn’t put it down. There were some grammatical errors but because of the exciting plot, this was well worth it. I would definitely read this again.

Matthew and Caroline. What a book! If all the rest in this series are like this, I have to read them all. Flying on a plane that got highjacked Matthew met Caroline, the rest is just as exciting and full of danger. I can tell you Caroline is one tough chick!! You’ve got to read it, it’s so good.

Love Love Love 💜. There were some grammar mistakes I did notice...but I’m not even mad about it! I loved the story line and the characters so much. Very excited there are more stories to read. I would love if they turned your books into a tv series!!!

Protecting Caroline. Great read, good plot and satisfying ending.

Absolutely love this book!. I keep coming back to this book just to read it again. I just love how brave and strong Caroline is! Thank you for an incredible book/series!

Let down. I thought this book was super unique and interesting and was really excited for it, but half way through I got bored because everybody kept calling Caroline “plain”. I love the idea of the book, but it seemed super unrealistic. Caroline and Wolf’s relationship was weird and forced. Really annoying how Caroline insisted on calling everybody their real names instead of their nicknames because then you have to remember so many more names. The ending was rough, and predictable.

Editing. I am on the 6th book of this series, but I decided to review on this one. I am in Honors English, so it's very noticeable to find a typo. I've noticed many throughout the series. Nothing with the author, just the editor. But based on the story line, I can't put these down. I'm reading about a book a day! Can't sleep, they are too good.

Great book!. One of the best books I've read in awhile. I can't wait to finish off the series!

Cute and sweet. The woman might have needed rescuing but I love that her character was so kickass. An awesome twist to a stereotypical man in uniform story.

Protecting Caroline. Exciting and action packed love the Seal Stories.

Would love to see this in movie form!. I'm on the third book in the series and it is such movie material! I would love love love to see it come to life on the big screen!

Review. I loved this book! There are some grammatical errors that need to be fixed, however, I don’t think that they hurt the story. I loved the characters in this book. I mean who doesn’t love an alpha male SEAL that respects women? The heroine, Caroline, is a strong woman in her own right. I love that the writer made her a strong woman instead of a helpless woman that just needed rescuing. This story contains a lot of action and some romance. There was a good balance between the action and romance. I highly recommend this book!

‘Cute’. The story line was ‘cute’, although I had problems with the grammatical errors and overall structure of the book.

Seriously. It's great I love the books read every single one of them and even started on the delta force series but they all have big tv's it's weird 😂❤️

Protecting Caroline. First book from Susan Stoker that I read and have read it over at least 20 times. The characters in the book have such a report with each other you can’t help but fall in love with the whole team! Highly recommend!

Loved the action pack. Story line of an fade in the background looks of Caroline with so much smarts, conviction and perseverance. Love her character to tears. Love Wolf’s teammate to save her from bad guys in multiple ways. The team backed up Wolf and Caroline relationship. Loved that.

Amazing beginning to a fantastic series. This book is out of this world. It is amazing, and the best part is that it’s a story that gets better each time you reread it. I’ve reread this so much I think I could just about recite it. Actually, the best part is that it’s the beginning of an amazing world- each story is better than the rest. Not only do they get more complex but the writing grows in each book. Every story in this series, her delta team series, and the police/firefighter series is connected and the way they are intertwined is beautiful and one of my favorite parts of her writing style. I could (and have) talk about these books endlessly. They make me feel happy in unprecedented times and calms me when my anxiety gets bad. These characters feel like friends and family to me that are always waiting to welcome me back. You will not be disappointed.

O.M.G.!!. This book is FANTASTIC! I LOVED it! If your a person that loves a really, really good, edge of your seat story with a strong romance on top of that, this is the book for you!! Ms. Stoker KNOW how to write a romantic suspense with real character and believable situations! This book deserves 10 stars in my book!!

Great read. I could not put this book down. I can not wait to read the rest of the series. So many twist and turns!

Protecting Caroline ( Seal Of Protection Book 1 ) by Susan Stoker. This was the first book in the Seal of Protection series and Navy Seal Matthew “Wolf” Steel and Caroline. Caroline and Wolf met on a plane where they ended up foiling terrorist from controlling the possibility of crashing it . Caroline proved herself as a very brave woman and saving the passengers plus the four Navy Seals on board . This led to her and Wolf plus his Seal team becoming very close. This was a book I enjoyed reading and highly recommend it.

Protecting Caroline. A book that is hard to put down, filled with romance and mystery. If you read this one you will want to continue with the series, here is an author who knows how to bring the characters to life.

Protecting Caroline. Lots of danger and intrigue but also lots of sweet and sexy romance!

Good. The story was great and I couldn’t put it down. But some of the storyline was hard to follow and I got lost overall it was ok!

Suspenseful. Caroline and Matthew’s story is suspenseful and steamy. Caroline is smart, strong, and wonderfully loyal. She quickly earned the respect of the SEALs she helps. Matthew is a hot, Uber alpha that does right by his country, his team, and his woman.

Who has the best Chemistry. Caroline, a chemist, flies across the country for a new job in VA. She was sitting in the aisle seat of a plane that was packed and people were still boarding. Next thing she heard was I think that seat in the middle is mine and she makes way for the hottest/biggest guy she has ever seen.. After conversing for awhile, she suggests switching seats as he is cramped. Their conversation is light and as beverages are served, she just about to taste her soda when she smells something untoward and immediately turns to Wolf and whispers to not drink his OJ. Somehow he believes her and has to get word to his teammates. They discover the plane is to be hijacked and get control of the plane landing at the nearest airport. FBI interview Seals and all the other passengers in the back. Caroline plays dumb and doesn’t tell her side of the story but has rescued the Seals and they somehow leave her behind. She is injured but eventually rescued by the team and get on their plane to Norfolk. Wolf claims her but so many attempts on her life lead her to believe she is just unlucky.Wolf is willing to do whatever to win her over and they discover alot more chemistry. Well worth the read.

Protecting Caroline. I was skeptical that this book was as good as any of the reviews said it was. But I kept reading and realized it was the prologue where the characters were introduced that had me in a lull. This story is much more than the “strong man saving the helpless woman”. Caroline is far from helpless from beginning to end. But you’d need to read this book for yourself just to see how strong she really is!

Awesome Series Opener!. From page one of this book, I knew it was something special. I have reviewed some of Susan Stoker’s books previously and I positively love them. What’s not to love about alpha military men who not only protect our country, but treat women with respect, kindness, and just plain hot sex. Caroline is a plain, unassuming woman who is on her way to Norfolk, Virginia to start a new job as a chemist. Men don’t notice her…at all. When she notices the big, muscle-bound hunk sitting next to her in the middle seat of the plane, obviously uncomfortable, she switches seats with him. Wolf is used to women coming on to him. On his way to Norfolk to visit an old SEAL teammate with two of his other teammates, he’s stuck in a too small middle seat. When plain Caroline switches seats with him, he wonders what her angle is. But when he realizes she was just being nice, he starts talking to her. Caroline starts to notice odd things on the plane, and when she gets her drink, she smells something off with the ice. She stops Wolf, who she insists on calling Matthew, from drinking his and tells him something is wrong. From there, they manage to stop a terrorist take over. The next day, they realize Caroline slept in the airport. When she brushes them off, Wolf angrily stalks off, but the eagle eyes of a teammate realize something is wrong. Caroline was hurt during the terrorist takeover. She ends up on the transport, and from there, Wolf and the team realize just how amazing Caroline is. But the drama doesn’t end here. Someone has told the other terrorists that Caroline was the one who figured them out. Now, her life is in danger. From there, the excitement keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. At some points, my hands were actually shaking. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love with Wolf and Caroline. Susan Stoker brings the reader right into the story and right along for the tumultuous ride. And the kicker? Nah, I’ll let you find out for your self. You just HAVE to read this book. And I recommend you keep right on going with the rest of the series. I am.

Repeated names. This is a good book with a great story. The only complaint I have is the use of so many repeated names when it should have been “I, he, she, the team or they, etc.”

Loved!❤️. Couldn’t put the book down!! Very well written and the characters were well developed . I loved the relationships between the Delta team. Can’t wait to read the others stories!!

Great Book. Protecting Caroline was an extremely exciting story with danger and definitely some love. Susan Stoker take you on one emotional journey with some incredible characters that will capture your heart and hold on to it till the end. Caroline is on her way to her new home and job in Virginia when she is seated on the plane the passenger beside her seems to be a bit uncomfortable and she offers to switch seats. Matthew “Wolf” is surprised that the woman next to him offers to switch seats, he is quick at accepting after all the middle seat is a bit cramped. But soon there is something a bit off about their flight and Caroline tells Wolf her thoughts. This is where this book takes off on one incredible ride. I absolutely loved this book and 100% recommended it. If you love brave and strong heroines and some strong and protective alphas this is definitely the story for you.

Protecting Caroline. Likeable characters and good stories but you show no respect for your own work, and even less for your readers, if there isn't enough proofreading to catch blatant errors.

Protecting Caroline. Loved it!!! Can’t wait to read the next book

Protecting Caroline. I only finished the book so I could give an honest review. The writing is scattered at best. The whole book was a mess. I kept hoping it would get better...I can't believe it was rated so highly. It makes me wonder what books these reviewers are reading is this one qualifies as a 4 or 5 star book! There is no real flow to the writing. It wasn't the worse book I have read, those I didn't finish, but it ranks one of the most poorly written books.

Loved it. Loved all the action in this story

Protecting Caroline. What a great read! Love the Seals in your books. Can’t go wrong reading your books just the right spice. Thanks for writing for us book worms.

Under developed Heroine. This was painful to read, and I hard core skimmed from 50% to the end. Was this girl strong and brave and smart or average in every way? Pick one and stick with in. I kind of wanted to know more about the terrorists, but the plot point was kind of a throw away in the end.

Protecting Caroline. Downloaded this book this morning and read it straight through. (House cleaning can wait until I get to it!). Loved it.

Writing is weak. I did become engaged in the plot but the writing went from average to meh to poor. I tried to skim to the end to see how it ends, but truly worsened towards the end.

Excellent. This is the third time I’ve read it. Very enjoyable.

Protecting caroline. First time i've read a book by this author but enjoyed it tremendously. I can understand how she would feel about dealing with things herself but think dealing with the things she does especially after the kidnap are a little much although i guess none if us knows how strong we are until something horrifying happens - hoping none of us ever have to find out! Hoping caroline starts to make girlfriends as the rest of the seal team meet their matches.

Protecting Caroline. Was an amazing read from beginning to end and couldn’t put it down.

Had me on the edge of my seat. I loved this! Full of drama, excitement, and I was fully driven to know what happens next. Happy to read more by this Author

too good. kept me up all night, it's currently 4am. oops?...

Fabulous. I have always enjoyed reading this author she never disappoints me . I totally recommend this author.l have enjoyed all her series.👍💕

Loved it. Loved this book, finally a female who has a bit of grit and a personality. Great storyline, really felt for the character and actual had a tear escape from me a few times. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Love the female lead but hate the poor editing. Loved the female lead but the writing needs a better editor - too much 'telling rather than showing' and other minor style errors that stop the story from being as good as it could be. I'll read the next one in the series because I like the plots but the writing is a big disappointment because it could be easily fixed.

Thank you Susan. Thank you Susan finally a heroine that can bring something to the table and isn’t just a pretty face with a body to match. Love all the strong characters. Wolf needed Caroline in his life.

Protecting Caroline. Loved this book! Thank you, Susan! Finally a book where the heroine is not drop dead gorgeous and still wins the heart of a good looking man with her personality. And Wolf deserves commenting too, for noticing beyond the surface after.

Needs plot editing. It’s an interesting story and premise, but there are a few inconsistencies that drag it down. 1. How did the terrorist group even find out her name? She claims to go unnoticed in the world yet she becomes their prime target in a matter of weeks. Not to mention when she’s captured they keep asking her how she knew when a little research on her background and job would have answered that question. It just makes the whole situation seem stupid not to mention the bad guys. 2. Although this is a romance things seem to move really fast. This is a borderline insta-love story where they keep repeating the fact that they “have something together/between them” to the point of annoyance. WE GET IT! They feel a connection, no need to have the MCs KEEP saying it over and over. 3. The 3rd person perspective shifted from the MCs to random characters unexpectedly. Sure its 3rd there’s more leeway to see what other people are thinking/doing, but this seemed like a 3rd-point-perspective that stayed with the MCs. Only for it to shift to another member of the team or at the beginning when they guys left the bar made it seem almost like 2nd-person perspective which is doubly confusing. 4. The explanation of Caroline’s job as a chemist seems to me like a Google definition of what chemistry is. It was a soulless recount of what you could find off the net like the writer didn’t do any research into what a chemist does which made the conversation feel like a ‘wiki explains’ page. Not to mention you didn’t actually get a feel for what she ACTUALLY does at any point in the story she was just a woman with serious esteem issues (despite what she claimed at the start) who required point blank explanation that he really does like her. 5. And then there was that bonehead move he pulls near the end with the “it’s my fault she was hurt” BS after he and his team just saved her. Don’t say one thing then do another there didn’t really seem to be a reason for it than to create drama right at the end so they could have a somewhat heartfelt reunion. Overall some editing is needed to clean this one up. It’s an interesting concept for sure but the execution means rereads make the reader realise just how shoddy it really is. I tried to reread this for the second or third time, but got halfway and got really annoyed about how many leaps in logic the story took.

Tough Cookie. Caroline goes to show, you don't have to be full of muscles to be one tough cookie! Loved her character. And, as for the Team.....oh la la. Great read. Looking forward to the next one.

Great read. Feeling ill and lying on the couch I decided to give this book a go and ended up reading the whole thing in a day. Will be getting the rest of the series.

Easy book to read. Not mind blowing in its premise, however it showed promise, so I kept reading. Author has an easy prose. I did think it lost its way a little with hostage preamble of Caroline. Okay I get it, she is stoic, strong minded etc., but 3 men hitting her one after the other and still being able to put up a fight before being dumped overboard, somewhat hard to believe. A hunky Alpha male, who liked a geeky chemist, good to know an average female has pulling power even in the printed word. Worth the read.

Fabulous read. Everything you could want. Romance, adventure. Drama, a strong heroine and a protective sexy male. Omg. I’m so jealous

Good read dispite.... A little unbelievable in places. Needed a medical adviser to make that part of the story authentic. Definitely fast moving.

Matthew (aka Wolf) & Caroline (aka Ice). Quite the story between the two! Terrorists highjacking a plane, home break ins, explosions, no name it! Caroline is a total bada** - a chemist and a practical person, her instincts were the reason the plane wasn’t crashed. She saves Matthew’s life in the explosion and fire. She fights for her life and never breaks, no matter the beating she gets. I didn’t even realize it until the end of the book, but surprisingly there were no intimate scenes between Matthew and Caroline in this book. Their relationship in the story was extremely deep in an emotional way.

Keeping it real - do some research. I understand that this is a work of fiction. However having said that, if your story takes place in the real world(not fantasy) its best to keep your facts true to life. Fact: seagulls do not live only by the sea! When untruths appear in fictional stories that are told in real world settings it taints everything else and ruins the story. I live in a small town, a very long way from the sea and we have lots of seagulls here. Do a little research using Google, it's fast and easy. Just a little constructive criticism.

Stop drugging things please. You do not "drug" a body across the floor. Please stop drugging bodies and nails. How many times do we need to be told about the forceful alpha maleness of the alpha male? Or about how much the woman is his? And having a guy be proud of a woman he just met is the lamest. All he can compare her to is other women. ** I read the three chapters of the next book offered at the end of this one. I get it. The woman is called Alabama. Do you need to start every paragraph with her name and every other sentence. Also numerous spelling errors. Cannot continue with the series.

Protecting Caroline. Excellent story to start this series and introduce readers to its heroes and heroines. First time reading it I gave five stars…now having finished it for a second time it is just as good and engaging. It remains very deserving of all five stars.

Protecting Alabama. Great book, fast paced, well written. Highly recommend reading this! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Not the best book ever.. Read this in about 3 days and was left feeling like I had watched a bad movie. It's a dumb but cute story. Characters were put together way too quickly and forcefully for my taste. At best I would give this 4 out of 10 stars.

Good SEAL romantic suspense. Wolf and his SEAL team were on a flight where there was an attempted hijacking. Luckily he was sitting beside Caroline who was a chemist. She smelled something off about the ice in their drinks and told him not to drink it. They spread the word to the rest of his team sitting throughout the plane. Since they didn't have their drinks, they didn't get drugged and were able to stop the hijacking. I always like SEAL stories and this one was good. It was well written and had the SEALs doing their SEAL stuff on the plane and saving the day. It was nice to see Wolf and Caroline have feelings for each other but I didn't like how Caroline felt about herself. The constant description of her being so plain that she was invisable was irritating and tiresome. She was intelligent and very determined to be as closed-lipped as the team. I liked how the team said she was one of them and wouldn't leave her behind. It was a little slow getting started because of the introduction of everyone on the miltary team taking so long. I enjoyed this romantic suspense with the twists keeping the action going.

Love IT!. Great from start to finish Definitely recommend!

Absolutely Wonderful!. Protecting Caroline has been in my iBooks library for a few days now. I was reading a different book but I so badly had this one on my mind to start reading. It was the best decision I ever made. I absolutely loved this book from the first word on the first page to the last word on the last page. It kept my attention 100% the whole entire journey. Made my heart race, made my heart fill with love and affection and made me laugh and cry or smile like a lunatic. I definitely would recommend everyone I know to read this delightful and captivating book! I most definitely am going to start reading the others in the series and any other books I can get my hands on by Susan Stoker!
