Struggle read. This was a struggle read to finish. The story is absolutely bonkers and would be unbelievable if this was to happen in real life. Not very suspenseful, left a lot to the imagination.

loved it. was my first book of hers. this particular week i had read 3 books prior to this one all written in first person, so her third person narrative threw me off initially. nonetheless, full of twists & i thoroughly enjoyed it. i actually couldn’t predict whodunnit!

I recommend!. A little slow in the middle, but loved the twists it took! I recommend reading!

Would recommend to someone with patience. Pretty good book, relatively quick read. The beginning was a bit leading but the twists and turns really came through toward the end !

Shari LaPena Keeps the Story Moving. First off, this is a gripping and tense and enjoyable mystery. As I found in “Someone We Know,” another book by Ms. LaPena, the author sacrifices long descriptions of settings in order to keep the action moving. So much happens in a Shari LaPena book! I mean it! So much unfolds between the characters—enough to fill two books—because ‘a trip to the police station’ is written as “…a trip to the police station.” Boom. You’re there. What does it look like, or how is the character’s emotional life reflected in the way the police station is described? Don’t bother: you’re there; get on with it. Your head will spin! But you’ll look for every opportunity to read and find out what happens next. I’m sandwiching one of LaPena’s books between every other book I read until I’ve read them all. You will too, I think.

Her best!. Her best book, very entertaining, lots of twists. Read on one sitting.

Page Turner. Such a good book! It had me thinking about the book when I wasn’t reading it. Kept me hooked! Highly recommended for people who love thrillers & mystery! It’s super scandalous- with matters pertaining postpartum depression, affairs, murder mystery & mental illness. Super twisted, I love it! (((: Very intense. ♡

So Many twists and turns I got dizzy. I loved this book! It was full of twists and turns but was written in a way that made it easy to follow all the ups and downs.

Excellent. This is the type of book you don’t want to put down, it could really be a lifetime movie.

The beginning and the end were good. I’m a pretty avid reader and have never left a review on here, but this book compelled me to do so. I love murder mysteries and was sucked in by the promise of many twists & turns. The beginning was fast-paced and interesting, but then I absolutely lost any interest around page 200. The middle of this book moves at glacial pace. I have never done this in my life, but I ended up skipping ahead to see what happens and then reading a summary to be sure I didn’t miss anything major. It’s one of those where everything is jam-packed into the end. Frustratingly uneven.

Slow start. This book was engaging, but the story took quite awhile to get going. Enjoyed the conclusion and character development though!

Good Story...Poor Writing. I can’t believe agents and publishers passed over hundreds of submissions for this. Flat characters, predictable storyline, and incredibly POOR writing. This began alright and the plot was intriguing at first—intriguing enough for me to overlook the writing. But then it just took a turn for the worst. Unnecessary and totally ridiculous twists and turns, no development, and really STUPID characters. This book feels like a high schooler wrote it for fun and ended up scoring a publisher by chance. Just awful, awful, beginner level writing that ruined what could have been a really good book. Total waste of money. Period.

Not worth it. As good as this book could have been, it did not get there. Poor character development. An odd switching of narrator, that made no sense. Also, the where was never addressed, just a nameless city.

Ugh. What a waste of money. The “twists” are completely predictable and the author’s writing skill is on par with that of a 10th grader.

Worth it. I haven’t read a book in a long time and recently found the time to start reading again. I stumbled across this book and became obsessed. Very well written.

The beginning & end were good. The beginning started off good. It was a good story. But the middle just dragged on and on. Did she do it? Did he do it? Did this person do it? And so on and so on.... About 2 thirds of the way through the book I finally realized who it had to be and I turned out to be right. The last few chapters of the book were great! Strong finish. Just wish the middle would have been a little more interesting. Not a book I would read again.

Great!. Loved this book. A fast mystery I couldn’t seem to put down!

The ending!. Wow! This book was fairly short, however some parts of it (especially in the beginning) were dragged out. About halfway through, once I’d figured out who done it, I was ready to put the book down because I thought it was going to be so predictable. Though when I kept reading, there was twist after twist and a complete climax at the ending. I hope there’s a second book because these characters are pretty interesting in itself. Highly recommend if you like a good thriller.
