The Hostage of Glenorchy Book Summary

Scotland 1556

Intrigue and romance in Tudor Scotland. After overhearing a plot to kill Mary Queen of Scots, Gabrielle Gordon (Abby) is sent from Paris to the Laird of Glenorchy’s home at Kilchurn Castle for safety. Disguised as a boy, she becomes a lute player with household musicians. There she encounters the attractive Iain MacGregor, a pawn in the struggle for power in Scotland’s turbulent politics. But is Iain really a hostage to fortune or is he playing his own dangerous game? As Abby’s feelings intensify for this Glenorchy hostage she is caught in the web of intrigue that permeates the household and is drawn deeper and deeper into danger.

With spice, wit and action packed plotting, Kristin Gleeson’s Highland Ballad series is as compelling as Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels.

The Hostage of Glenorchy - Kristin Gleeson Book Reviews

  • The Hostage of. Glenorchy (Rhaenel)

    Very enjoyable, interesting, and educational.
  • The Hostage of Glenorchy (Westward winds)

You know a story is good when you get to the end and you want it to continue. I want to find out what happens next in Abby's life. Ms. Gleason made me feel the general attitude of men towards women back then and I didn't like it! Lol
  • Disappointing (L Lancelot)

I enjoyed reading this book until I reached the end. I’ve become disappointed with many “free” or low-cost e-books that leave one hanging and to find what happens next you must buy another book.
  • A rating and review of The Hostage of Glenorchy (I love too read a good book)

I would give it a five star rating. It was a very interesting book, mixing history with an ongoing mystery. I'm anxious to read the rest of the books to find out what happens in the future books.
  • Love historic novels (Gramm j.)

This has lots of action, suspense and historical references. I enjoyed reading the book but the ending seems to be “continued”.
  • A lot of words (Eitel19)

I was disappointed the way it ended. I don’t like to be left hanging. So many people are doing that now. I can’t afford more books .
  • Hostage of glenorchy (Anne Hartman)

Ok but not gripping or particularly interesting. Too many Gaelic words to look up to understand the meaning in places.
