The Sister by Louise Jensen Book Summary

‘I did something terrible Grace. I hope you can forgive me…’
Grace hasn't been the same since the death of her best friend Charlie. She is haunted by Charlie's last words, and in a bid for answers, opens an old memory box of Charlie's. It soon becomes clear there was a lot she didn't know about her best friend.
When Grace starts a campaign to find Charlie's father, Anna, a girl claiming to be Charlie's sister steps forward. For Grace, finding Anna is like finding a new family, and soon Anna has made herself very comfortable in Grace and boyfriend Dan's home.
But something isn't right. Things disappear, Dan's acting strangely and Grace is sure that someone is following her. Is it all in Grace's mind? Or as she gets closer to discovering the truth about both Charlie and Anna, is Grace in terrible danger?
There was nothing she could have done to save Charlie... or was there?
A compelling, gripping psychological thriller perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train, I Let You Go, and The Girl With No Past.

Wasn't as good as I had heard. Seemed to be written in a childish manner. Plot was not tight enough. Ending a disappointment.

Good book!. Couldn't put it down. Very good book!

The sister. It was a great mystery book that I read so far like a lifetime movie.

Couldn't put it down!. I've enjoyed the adventure through the present and the past learning how every character came full circle. I understand the sins of the parent greatly affect the life of a child. I enjoyed seeing Grace find her way and look forward to the next

The Sister. Thoroughly enjoyed your book. Interesting concept using "then" and "now". The characters came to life as I learned of their childhood, their young adult years and their individual issues. We all knew a Grace when in school. As the plot twisted and turned I was unable to put the book aside, finally reading into the wee hours to the finish, my criteria for a 5 star rating. I was happy for Grace's pregnancy as she loved children, but couldn't see Dan becoming a strong husband or father. I'm hoping to see a next book soon!

So long to get to anything. When I last opened the book, and I always finish a book, looked at the page I was on, and the # of the last page. By page 310, I had to call it quits. I just couldn't keep trudging along.

Surprise ending!. It got rather confusing with keeping characters straight but the ending was something I could never have imagined.

Compelling. I didn't expected to be as hooked as I was at first. I was worried initially it was all a bit twee but very quickly got completely sucked in. Read very easily and quickly. Well worth a read - great first novel and I look forward to the next one!!

Excellent. So brilliantly written & such great characters. The pace is great & the story is too. A very satisfying read, thoroughly enjoyed every bit

Brilliant!. I love a book where within the first chapter you are hooked, and this book did just that!

The Sister. Wow, what a great read. I loved what little there was of Charlie. This book I thought was written brilliantly. I loved the characters and the fact they were all so close yet so far from each other. A few of my presumptions were correct but this kept me going & wanting to find out more. Fab story, we all love a page turner and this is certainly one of those 🍾❤️📖

Loved it. I loved this book! I never saw the twist coming and it kept me hooked, read it in one evening! Can't wait for more :-)

Excellent. Gripping read, I couldn't put the book down. Can't wait for book 2

Couldn't put this down!. I received a free copy of this book prior to its release from NetGalley. Big thank you to Louise Jensen for the opportunity. This book, simply put, is incredible. I cannot urge you to read it enough. For almost two days I couldn't put it down and stayed up most of the night just to see how it ended. Does not read like a debut; Louise is incredibly well written and the story itself is not dissimilar to a seasoned author. The storyline is similar to other psychological thrillers out there, but for me the book held more regard for friendship and love alongside its well written suspense plot. A well deserved 5 stars!

Another 5 stars !!. Wow what a book. I managed to read it in just 2 days even with 3 kids. I simply couldn’t put it down. It will keep you guessing and wanting to read more. Second book I’ve read from this author and I’ve just downloaded a third.

Brilliant!. I bought this book on a Saturday night, had it finished by Sunday afternoon. Brilliant tense first offering from Louise, cannot wait to see what else comes our way from this great author!

This is her first? Wow.. I love reading a book that has you yearning to get back to it. The writing style flows and the characters are believable and as a debut it’s brilliant. This won’t be the last of hers I read.

A gripping read!. I bought this for some light reading on holiday and finished it within a day and a half! I couldn't put it down. Each chapter leaves you wanting to read on. Fantastically written, great characters and realistic story telling.

The Sister. I really enjoyed this debut book by Louise Jenson. There are lots of interesting characters and twists and turns aplenty. Well thought out and a very good read.

Good book. I wasn't expecting that ending. Enjoyed reading this book

Great Read. Thoroughly enjoyed this book! Great ending.

Boring. Very slow, mediocre book.

Couldn't put it down. Genuinely couldn't put this book down. Read it in three days, fabulous little read

Loved this debut novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. Read it over a day and couldn't put it down. Slightly predictable but there were some unexpected twists. Great characters with warmth and depth. Didn't want it to end!

Fantastic book. Couldn’t put this book down ,had you guessing all the way through would never have predicted the ending. Great read.

What a read. This book was gripping, kept you wanting to read more and more. Definitely worth the read.

Average. A anticlimax ending without giving anything away I think the thriller part was played down. But an easy read

The sister. Really enjoyed this book would highly recommend to anyone who loves psychological thrillers

The Sister. Loved it, couldn't put it down!!

Amazing. This is by far the best book I have EVER read. The plot twists and the way in witch the story grips you is mesmerising. Please Please write another book like this one. Maybe what happens next or another book entirely. Thank you so much for writing this book ,Amy

Weird. This story didn’t make much sense to me. Several people abandoning other people close to them for odd reasons and / or keeping secrets for equally odd reasons. The narration was a bit slow and at times boring.

Very enjoyable.. I sat and read this book in one day. I even read it in bed till the early hours as I couldn't put it down. Must read.

The sister. Page turning and picks up the pace well. Shocking plot twists, usually I manage to untangle the plot before the book actually tells me, but not with 'The Sister'. I did really enjoyed reading this, and hope to see more books follow.

The Sister. This had me hooked and intrigued from page one I kept believing that I had worked out what was going to happen next and was delightedly wrong most times. Once Anna had ‘moved in’ with Grace and Dan I spent a lot of time holding my breath because Anna was a reminder of how my ex husband manipulated and controlled me , especially when they went to buy a dress ! This author has an in-depth understanding of what makes people ‘ tick ‘ it was totally believable and I kept trying to second guess just WHAT Anna had ‘up her sleeve’ next !! The sign of a good book for ME is when I can’t start another for a couple of days because the characters are still too ‘alive ‘ in my mind . I loved the character of Lexi who was very sad and couldn’t help feel sorry for as she’d lost her daughter but felt even MIRE SORRY for Villain Anna once it transpired she’s been basically given away but not even as a tiny baby , rather a knowing small child and she had all these memories and nothing to match them up to . A spectacular ending ! I DID find it incredulous though that after ALL that had gone on at her house , it STILL wasn’t enough to deter Grace from going back there in the dead of night to sleep and let’s face it , THAT didn’t end well for her did it 😂!! I was WILLING my eyes NOT to be reading what I did and outwardly groaned when she went into the ‘house from Hell’ 😆for the night but I WAS terrified for her 😱 Brilliant brilliant book , Christine Luck xx
