The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye by David Lagercrantz Book Summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series continues with this “engrossing” novel (USA Today) as brilliant hacker Lisbeth Salander teams up with journalist Mikael Blomkvist to uncover the secrets of her childhood and take revenge. • Also known as the Millennium series

Lisbeth Salander—obstinate outsider, volatile seeker of justice for herself and others—seizes on a chance to unearth her mysterious past once and for all. And she will let nothing stop her—not the Islamists she enrages by rescuing a young woman from their brutality; not the prison gang leader who passes a death sentence on her; not the deadly reach of her long-lost twin sister, Camilla; and not the people who will do anything to keep buried knowledge of a sinister pseudoscientific experiment known only as The Registry. Once again, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist are the fierce heart of a thrilling full-tilt novel that takes on some of the world's most insidious problems.

What happened. This is an average at best effort. Felt rushed, unclear and lacked so much. I'm a huge fan of the series but this one is a major disappointment. Shame on them.

Couldn’t keep my interest. For some reason this book had portions that I just couldn’t get in to. I liked the twists and storyline but I found it boring at times. It was also not the type of book that made me stay awake trying to see what happened next. Not terrible just not great.

Fun read, but…. Good book all in all and kept me interested. However, I can’t help but notice that Lisbeth and Blomkvist become almost secondary characters that do more or less the same thing they did in the last book. I miss seeing and hearing more about them, but the other, new characters are exciting, too.

It's good but I could be better.. I read the whole thing in less than 24 hours. If I didn't have to work and take care of my family, it would have been better. Yes, it's that suspenseful. I genuinely felt good and bad, elated and disappointed, sad and happy, for the characters, that is. But they all were a little off, as if the writer didn't get to know them enough, because they are doing things that they would have never done for Stieg Larson. Stand alone, it's an excellent effort! Part of a Salander legacy, it's heavy-handed, implausible and uneven. It's understandable, the first books had a cause to rally around, violence against women. This book does not... So either don't read it or consider the characters anew, without their back stories. And then it's worth every second!

The Girl Who Takes an Eye For an Eye. Very misleading. Very little resemblance to the original trilogy.

Terrible. Worst of the series. Poorly written, poorly planned story line, disconnected characters, boring to read.

Difficult to Enjoy. I’ve liked this series a lot up until this book. It’s a flood of new characters with poorly told, disjointed introductions to them. Every time an interesting plot seems to occur we immediately cut to a more tedious one. Whether it’s introductions to a new character or another fractured side story of one we were already introduced to. I found it immensely challenging to be invested in most of the characters in this book.

Wow!. This is a great book, a fine continuation of the trilogy, I have read them all and think Mr. Legercrantz is an excellent writer, to continue this series.

So much detail. I love the detail as well as all the characters. The ending left me wanting more, can't wait for the next one!

Convoluted. I agree with two other reviewers one who awarded 5 stars and one who awarded one. I'm really more interested in Elisabeth and Mikael. However it was stillinteresting. Would recommend if you are a fan of the series

Ehh. I’ve read these books and I can’t get enough of the stories and twist. It’s not like the norm of mysteries. A page turner because you want to know where the story is going. I gave this five stars because I am a fan. I want to be honest and say that this was not my favorite and it didn’t satisfy. I’m hoping the next one will.

Preposterous. Need to get back to the simple terror and suspense that made this franchise great.

Five Stars. Excellent and very thought provoking. A great addition to one of the best stories ever written.

Why?. This novel failed to establish why Lisbeth and Mikeal should even care about what was happening. They weren’t created as altruistic heroes, but this tries to paint them this way.

Don't waste your money.. As an avid fan and reader of the Salander series, I've always loved the story of her and around her. This book however has no story, it reads more like a police report, as in here's your dates, times, places, and persons involved. No real development of characters, no real background, just kind of slapped together. It's as if the the writer doesn't care about the series anymore, just wants to shove another book off the press.

The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye. Totally enjoyed the read, kept me wanting another!

The girl who takes an eye for an eye. Unimaginative, pedantic and boring. Poorly written not an iota of engagement. Suggest no more

Good Read. Lisbeth continues to be a very strong supporter of abused women.

Just made 3 stars. I'm an admitted fan girl of Lisbeth & Mikael, but with the latest addition to the Millennium Series Im strongly considering going on a "break" with the Author. I only kept reading because I started it and was curious enough to see why I cared about the multiple story lines. Unfortunately I wasn't rewarded in the end for hanging in there. I beg the Authors trying to carry this series to please reread the original 3 novels, and on the next round, bring back some of that energy & grit I used to love about my two favorite characters.

The Girl That Takes an Eye for an Eye. Pretty good read and great characters. But disjointed in places and to many flashbacks.

The girl who takes an eye for an eye. I probably would have liked this book, as I’ve enjoyed the others in this series, but the download only provided the first edition chapters after I paid.

Make no comparison. I do not compare this author to the original, but rather I am just happy these characters are living on thru more stories.

Confusing……Boring…..Disappointing. You can get away with jumping back and forth in a timeline of the story if the story has your attention….this latest effort by Lagercrantz doesn’t come close…..the plot is murky…..and disjointed…..I reread the previous book and it was a delight….this one suffers so much in comparison.

The girl who takes an eye for an eye. This was a great read. All the characters were developed very well. The writing was captivating and kept your attention. Those who have been following the lisabeth salander story and the author will not be disappointed.

Great story, continues the saga. More like the original series than The Girl in the Spider's Web. The plot comes to a satisfying conclusion but Salander and Blomkvist spend most of the book in separate stories and I missed the satisfaction of more interplay between the leading two partners in this series. Without revealing too much detail,The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye, rediscovers characters and institutions from Lisbeth's past and they continue their roles as purveyors of evil or justice. More is discovered about Lisbeth's back story and I wonder where Lagercrantz takes it from here. I hope future books in the series are published, but I also hope the author focuses more on plot suspense and more intimate character development.

Awful. Do not waste your money on this, whatever it was. This is not anything like the other Dragon Tattoo novels. I have no idea, beyond making money from the title and his connection to Stieg Larson, why he bothered to write it. Please Mr. Lagercrantz, find something else to do.

The Girl who got eye for an eye. It is kind of predictable and from what I read there is a big build up to a climax of the story then the ending bombs out in 1 chapter Could be rewritten into great story- it’s more of a bridge to another book. Fodder filler.

Good read. Great book, I enjoyed all of the books in this series

Just sucked. I gave the book the benefit of the doubt and wanted to read it because I am a huge fan of the series; even the last book. This book was just all around bad. It was poorly written and poorly structured. There was never any high points in the book. It just ended, no closure or anything. The book just made me confused when I finished it even in the epilogue. I felt like I had to read it because I am a huge fan of the series but this book was a struggle to read. It just was not a good all around book. Very disappointed.

An ok read. Seemed to drag in first half. Picked up speed as protagonist gets out of jail.

Lisbeth forever!. I love this entire series. The Lagercrantz books are a little different from the original Larsson set. However, Lagercrantz beautifully keeps Lisbeth’s soul in tact through his stories about her.

Very well written! Almost couldn’t tell the difference between Larson and Lagercrantz!!. Excellently written, very spellbinding!

The girl who took an eye for an eye. Intense, suspenseful read. Keeps Salander’s spirit alive and the intricate web of characters ever present and in depth in recesses of our minds. Well done! However I grew to resent the inordinate amount of time travel that had to be absorbed and dealt with to the detriment of the flow on the read. Hence the withdrawn star!

Just plain boring!. Way too many new characters in subplots. We are interested in life sander and Mikell and not all the background on new characters. The subplots in the fifth book, draw from the reason of purchase. In short, it stunk!

Love the whole series. Love the book. Read fast.

Not sure why, but I read the whole thing. It’s not so much that the story is badly written, it’s that the main character does things that don’t even make sense and results in things happening that are completely unbelievable. Example: dislocating someone’s arm when you want their help, and then resetting it, and everyone is good with what just happened.

Excellent. Good as always

The girl who takes an eye foe an eye. I love Lizbeth ! I to se. what happens next! Great series, love every book!

The Girl Who Takes An Eye For An eye. I love Lisbeth and the series...but for this book the author seems more intent on impressing us with his knowledge of various subjects, than writing an exciting story. The book meanders and is boring. You yearn for more Lisbeth.

It is appropriate. Pretty good in following storyline from first three!
