The Rooster Bar Book Summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author John Grisham’s newest legal thriller takes you inside a law firm that’s on shaky ground.

Mark, Todd, and Zola came to law school to change the world, to make it a better place. But now, as third-year students, these close friends realize they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a third-tier, for-profit law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specializing in student loans, the three know they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.
But maybe there's a way out. Maybe there’s a way to escape their crushing debt, expose the bank and the scam, and make a few bucks in the process. But to do so, they would first have to quit school. And leaving law school a few short months before graduation would be completely crazy, right?  Well, yes and no . . .
Pull up a stool, grab a cold one, and get ready to spend some time at The Rooster Bar.

I really like John Grisham and read all his books. This is the only book I have to make myself read rather than make myself put the book down. Really boring story, boring characters,etc... i guess I will look forward to the next book and hope Grisham gets back to his old ways.

Very enjoyable read. Typical Grisham style where he draws you in by the strength of the characters and mixes their flaws with their strengths and values to make a touching story that keeps you wanting more. Like most of his books this is terrific read but unlike most of his books this is not about the courtroom and typical lawyers. It’s about some law students going into their final year at law school and their approaches to the school, their debts, their struggles to deal with the unraveling of their naivete’ and how they intend to survive and be successful in the real world. Along the way Grisham no doubt uses them to share his own feelings about the state of the profession, its ethics and lack there of, competitive pressure and even immigration.

I’m a big fan of Grisham‘s books but this one in my opinion is not as good as the others. The storyline was OK but a bit far-fetched. At times I found myself skipping pages that I found boring. Having said that I read it in a couple days and enjoyed the story
