A Doggone Great Love Story!
By BBQ griller
Roxanne St. Clair delivers another amazing book in the Dogfather Series. I loved every minute of the book. The strong characters are so memorable they feel like family. WOW! Is all I can say about the changes in the main characters throughout the book. There are so many bittersweet and poignant moments in the book. The story is about Shane Kilcannon, the second oldest child. He is a lawyer turned dog trainer. Shane is left changed by the death of his mother, three years ago. Enter Chloe Somerset, tourism consultant extraordinaire, with enough personal baggage to fill a limousine. She is the niece of the mayor, who has asked her to help them find a way to improve tourism in Bitter Bark, NC. After she completes this favor, she plans to return to her "home" in Miami, traveling 300 days of the year. Her next assignment will have her heading to Roatán, the minute she gets notified of the approval of her budget. After a chance enchanter in the local bar, involving a mistaken identity that ends with a hot kiss, Shane looks all over Bitter Bark, for Chloe with no last name. Shane's dad, Daniel is looking for Liam to take his place at the special council meeting that's been assigned with the task to improve tourism, hoping that Liam will get him closer to Andi Rivers. The one that got away. Shane wants the task to get closer to Chloe, when he realizes, that she is the missing mysterious woman. Shane uses the council as a way to get closer to Chloe. At Shane's suggestion, Chloe cares for a pit bull that Shane was temporarily keeping at Waterford Farm for a friend. As the pages turn, Shane and Chloe grow closer, but can Dirty Shame break down all of Perfect Chloe's barriers so that she can have a normal life? Can Chloe help Shane with his own inner demons. Will the each discover on new Leash on Life. Love the plot twist at the end, that's always my favorite part of every Rocki book. Love the Waterford Farms setting and all the locations to discover. Cannot wait for Liam and Andi's story.
Best Ride of All

Sometimes you have to let go to find the thing you really want in life. Chloe Somerset holds very tightly to her ordered world, too bad Shane Kilcannon with his laid-back ways and DOGS wants to do his best to mess it up. Working together on the tourism campaign for Bitter Bark, Shane and Chloe definitely mess things up. Add in a lovely Staffy named Daisy who charms the town and Chloe and things are definitely going to end up on the messy side. I loved Shane and Chloe. Both are trying very hard not to let their past control them. They are really only able to do that when they are both willing to let go. Join them for the best ride of all: love. If the cover doesn’t make you love them, the story inside the pages will.
I voluntarily reviewed and ARC of this novel.

This is a terrific book. I can hardly wait for the next
5 books. All of Ms. St. Claire's books are amazing.
Mr daughter has a Staffy, he is the most loveable dog.
This book only proves how this dog is so great.
A Dog Gone Good Romance
A dog gone good romance that had me in love with Shane from the very first kiss. Chloe has arrived in town to make Bitter Bark a tour destination when she meets dog whisperer, Shane. A great idea is to make the town dog friendly. Little to be known, Chloe is not a dog lover and is a neat freak. Soon Shane will change her mind, with offering Daisy, a pitbull, a foster dog to Chloe. Chloe will soon have a new leash on life with Shane and Daisy.
This is perfect story for all romance and dog lovers, it will have you laughing out loud at the one liners and pull at your heartstrings for the love of dogs. I highly recommend this story. I am loving the Kilcannon family!!
Great story all the way to the end!

Chloe Somerset has come to Bitter Bark, NC at the request of her Aunt Blanche, who is the mayor of the town. She has asked Chloe to come up with something that would make Bitter Bark a fun and new travel destination. After Chloe's first meeting she walks around the town trying to get ideas and stops in at the Bitter Bark Bar. There she meets Shane, a dirty, attractive man that she ends up kissing and feeling more sparks than she thought she would! After the way Chloe's mom was, she does not like anything dirty! I just loved Chloe and Shane's banter back and forth. It made for some great humor and sizzling attraction. What Chloe didn't realize is that Shane is a Kilcannon, one of the family members that run Waterford Farm. After talking with Shane, Chloe has an idea to change the name of the town to Better Bark and make it the first dog friendly town that families could travel to where they are encouraged to bring their pet!
Shane doesn't know what hit him, but he is interested in Chloe....problem is he doesn't know where she is from or where she lives. By a luck of fate, Shane figures it out and volunteers to take his dad's place on the committee who will vote on Chloe's idea. After meeting up with Chloe again, Shane realizes that she is not a fan of dogs....and that is a red flag in Shane's world. After some prodding, Shane gets Chloe to keep a friend's dog, Daisy, for a few weeks....but it's not just any dog...it's a pitbull which Chloe isn't too thrilled about, but ends up agreeing to it.
Since Shane wants to spend time with Chloe, he agrees to help her with her plan to convince the town that they should change the name to Better Bark. Of course in true Roxanne St. Claire style, this is not an easy task. There are hurdles Chloe needs to overcome every step of the way, but Shane is there all to willing to help! When it becomes obvious that someone is sabotaging their efforts, Chloe and Shane have to really step up the battle. I just loved interactions with Chloe, Shane, Daisy and the rest of the town. It was fun seeing Chloe slowly change into actually liking a dog. The final confrontation was fun and interesting and really kept me guessing as to who the culprit was...and the happy ending between Shane and Chloe was just perfect! Loved it!
Overall, I really enjoyed these characters and the path they went on to get to their happy ending. It was a fun ride all the way to the end!
Man Meets Lady Meets Dog

Another wonderful story that tugged at my heartstrings, New Leash on Life by Roxanne St.Claire. Again a perfect title for this wonderful and emotional story, but it doesn’t quite describe what you might expect. This is the second book in her Dogfather series but each book is a stand long read.
This is Shane Kilcannon and Chloe Somerset’s story. Shane is the second eldest and a lawyer who has become a dog trainer and advocate for pit bulls. He tries to inform the public that the dogs are lovable and those who are “mean” were raised that way by their owners. Chloe, a marketing genius and niece of Bitter Bark’s mayor, is in town to help her aunt create a plan to bring more tourists to the small town. Chloe had a rough upbringing with a mother who was a hoarder. To compensate, she is OCD-like about being clean and in control. Shane is determined to shake up Chloe’s life and have her experience new things. As a favor to Shane, Chloe temporarily watches Daisy, a pit bull, whose owner broke her leg. Not being a dog lover, this is a challenge for her, but then, challenges of all sorts will confront Chloe as she tries to change things around town. Shane does not like to lose, so he is in this fight along with Chloe to win. The question is what or who is he hoping to win. I loved the description throughout the book of Chloe taking Daisy around town as part of her campaign to win over the residents to her idea.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Ms. St. Claire did an excellent job keeping me interested in this story so that I had trouble putting it down. The story line was riveting and the characters had real, everyday problems. I highly recommend this outstanding book to other readers and can’t wait for the next book in this series.

New Leash on Life is the second book in Roxanne St. Claire's wonderful new Dogfather series. I loved that Shane Kilcannon was the second sibling to get his story. Shane Kilcannon and Chloe Somerset are pretty much as different as night and day. He works as a dog trainer, and doesn't care about getting dirty on the job. Chloe is a marketing expert who seriously hates to have a hair out of place. However, those differences made me absolutely love them as a couple long before they actually became one.
Neither Shane nor Chloe are looking for anything more than a temporary arrangement, as Chloe is only in Bitter Bark to help her aunt, who is the mayor, find a great marketing plan to put Bitter Bark on the map. Shane isn't looking for more than a temporary arrangement because he doesn't believe in love lasting forever. Both Shane and Chloe have issues from their past that color their present. I have to say I found Chloe stepping outside of her comfort zone way faster than I expected when we first met her. I have to say I was pretty shocked when she agreed to dog sit Daisy, but loved watching her truly fall in love with a pet and get past her need to always be perfectly put together.
Shane was very instrumental in getting Chloe to get past so many of her issues, and I loved the more time they spent together, the more they both wanted to be together. Shane and Chloe's chemistry was pretty obvious from their first kiss the day they met, and it only grew the more time they spent together. I fell in love with them as a couple right along with each of them.
I also love that Shane's dad Daniel made an appearance once again. I love the wisdom he shares with his children when it comes to both life and love. I honestly love getting to spend time with the entire Kilcannon clan, but Daniel has wormed his way into a special place in my heart pretty quickly. Gramma Finnie and her humor add to each experience with the Kilcannon's, and honestly makes me want to spend time with this family.
New Leash On Life was a wonderful addition to the Dogfather series. It was filled with all the emotions one expects from a romance but to the next level. Rocki gives her readers a story filled with love and laughter that makes you want to read this story over and over again.
Rating: 5 Stars (A)
I am loving this series and this book is a great addition! Being an animal lover and owner of 3 rescues myself, this series hits me right in the heart. The stories are well written with incredible characters that having you cheering and sighing all the way through. I must admit that I myself had a lot of preconceived notions about pitbulls that this book shed new light on.
This is Shane Kilcannon's story. Shane is a former attorney who has returned home to work in the family dog shelter. He's been asked to work with Chloe Somerset as she puts together a plan to ramp up the town's tourism draw. Too bad they get off to such a rocky start because the more time they spend together the more Shane wants. Could this uptight city girl ever grow to love his small town life?
Definitely a book for everyone's must read list. I highly recommend it.
