3 1/2 stars. Very dynamic story, with many twists and turns.

No. Just no.. I am of the variety of people who forces herself to finish a book no matter what, even if I don’t particularly like it, because some books just have a slow start, but three chapters in, I had to call it quits with this one. The writing is simplistic and choppy, and everything that I read was RUSHED in this book — *spoiler* the main characters kissed within about twenty minutes of having met, with very limited knowledge of the other. Mr. Maddox irks me because he keeps trying to touch Piper when she says no, and Piper irks me because she’s swooning all over this guy in her naïveté, which is, again, NOT WRITTEN WELL. Promising story, but the poor quality of the writing makes it difficult to see any of the characters as people.

Just one thing.... I enjoyed this book, good pace and characterisation. It's a pity the swearing is so out of place...Ive no problem with swearing but the words chosen are entirely inappropriate to the age and sound like a ten year old trying out bad words.

Not really historical but sweet. 2.5* The writing is not at all era appropriate. Imagine it in a different world or another time and era and the story is just perfect. Simple, engaging and just the right length. Didn’t feel too rushed. Didn’t feel like it dragged. I would have still felt better if the historical accuracy was a bit better or the author had hinted on another multiverse or something. Then I would have given it 5*.
