Artemis Book Summary

The bestselling author of The Martian returns with an irresistible new near-future thriller—a heist story set on the moon.

Jasmine Bashara never signed up to be a hero. She just wanted to get rich.

Not crazy, eccentric-billionaire rich, like many of the visitors to her hometown of Artemis, humanity’s first and only lunar colony. Just rich enough to move out of her coffin-sized apartment and eat something better than flavored algae. Rich enough to pay off a debt she’s owed for a long time.

So when a chance at a huge score finally comes her way, Jazz can’t say no. Sure, it requires her to graduate from small-time smuggler to full-on criminal mastermind. And it calls for a particular combination of cunning, technical skills, and large explosions—not to mention sheer brazen swagger. But Jazz has never run into a challenge her intellect can’t handle, and she figures she’s got the ‘swagger’ part down.

The trouble is, engineering the perfect crime is just the start of Jazz’s problems. Because her little heist is about to land her in the middle of a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself.

Trapped between competing forces, pursued by a killer and the law alike, even Jazz has to admit she’s in way over her head. She’ll have to hatch a truly spectacular scheme to have a chance at staying alive and saving her city.

Jazz is no hero, but she is a very good criminal.

That’ll have to do.

Propelled by its heroine’s wisecracking voice, set in a city that’s at once stunningly imagined and intimately familiar, and brimming over with clever problem-solving and heist-y fun, Artemis is another irresistible brew of science, suspense, and humor from #1 bestselling author Andy Weir.

Artemis - Andy Weir Book Reviews

  • This is a great one! (Tryko)

I thoroughly enjoy everything about this book!!!!! Rich plot line and engrossing story- didn’t want to see it end
  • Great read (Not happy 1769)

This book was extremely entertaining!! A fantastic read that you just don't want to put down. Great follow up to "The Martian"
  • A pressure dome of fun (DEC5150)

Very well written. Its as much fun as “The Martian “,hell it is more fun.I know jazz is supposed to be of Arabian decent,I just couldn’t help myself from imagining jen Lawrence from speaking those words.she’d be great in the role for the film!
  • Entertaining (Rilop)

Good, yet not even close to "The Martian" level.
  • No sophomore slump (The Mother Ship)

Great book, read it inside a week. I love Andy’s characters, so colorful and they have so much personality. As always Mr Weir has a lot of science, great page turning plot and it’s easy to follow if you enjoyed The Martian they you will enjoy this novel.👍
  • A fun and interesting read (Kelthan)

This book was more lighthearted, but no less science-based than “The Martian.”
  • Quick fun and detailed (jwellingtonb)

A great caper told from the instigator’s perspective as a strong resourceful female. Excellent story!
  • Not bad (Semco)

The first one was better, the Apollo 13 of mars. This one had its moments, but since the trials to overcome were mixed with technical and personal ones, it didn’t flow as smoothly. It wanted to be the Maltese falcon on the moon but kept getting distracted by technical problems the lead character faced.
  • Awesome (Dklaricheus)

I couldn’t put this book down, I loved the characters and the plot grew more and more intense and exciting. It’s scientific but not hard to understand, it’s futuristic but not too far from earth, it’s action packed suspenseful and funny all at the same time. I highly recommend it... I never write reviews but this book blew me away! I am not a bit Sci-Fi fan but this book might have changed that.
  • Excellent Read (Poulin66)

Fun, lite, fast paced - little science thrown in for good measure.
