Outstanding!. What a wonderful writer Ann Mah is and I hope she writes many more novels . This book seamlessly wove together the two stories of a family and their history during World War II in France to the present. I did not want it to end. So few books this well written .

Wine, Women and a Near Great Read. This was a compelling and terrifically interesting read with historical overtones that laid the foundation and were always relevant to the deeply emotional story. The back and forth of the diary to the present keeps everything moving and binds the present to the history. The lead characters were well developed. The thing that kept it from being a four star read in my mind was near the end it seemed to wrap up too quickly almost as if there was a deadline to meet. I feel we were sort of robbed by the sudden announcement of the secret wine cave resolution without being part of the excitement of its public revelation and auction. I missed being a part of the research that found the path of Heline’s escape but told us little to nothing of the events. Even the long awaited accomplishment of passing “the Test” felt rushed and diminished to me. I recommend reading it but it could have been great instead of very good!

Well done! Craving a good glass of wine to go with this book!. I made perhaps a bad choice in reading this book while on a beach holiday with absolutely no good wine available! I enjoyed the love story, the mystery, the history, the scenery, etc... Well done. Looking forward to whatever you have next for us, Ann!
