Sweet Little Thing by Abbi Glines Book Summary

“Everything I want in romance. Angsty, emotional, forbidden and HOT! Abbi Glines at her best!” – Colleen Hoover,  #1 New York Times bestselling author

"Abbi Glines ratchets up the heat in Sweet Little Thing, taking her signature blend of page-turning sexual tension and honest romantic portrayals to the next level. I wish I could hit rewind and read the book again for the first time!"
— Kami Garcia, #1 New York Times bestselling coauthor of Beautiful Creatures and author of The Lovely Reckless

"No one packs as much prickly angst and heartwarming drama on each and every single page the way Abbi Glines does. Fans of the Rosemary Beach series are going to LOSE THEIR MINDS when they meet these characters!"
— Natasha is a Book Junkie

"The kind of book you can't read fast enough—a forbidden love story that's deliciously tense with an ending that left me clamoring for more."
— Vilma Iris

The day her mother passed away, Beulah was only given a name. That was it. No other explanation.

Portia Van Allan was not someone Beulah could believe her mother ever knew. Wealthy, self-absorbed and other than the fact Portia was supplying special care for Beulah’s sister, Portia was cruel.

The day Portia’s son returns home for the summer, Beulah discovers that Portia isn’t in charge. This isn’t her home at all. Her late husband left her with nothing. It all belongs to their son who doesn’t seem to like his mother at all.

Jasper Van Allan doesn’t know why his mother has hired a young gorgeous blonde to take care of the house and almost lets her go before he finds out the truth.

Realizing there’s more to Beulah than a stunning face, he keeps finding reasons to be near her all the time. It’s all falling into place, it all begins to make sense . . . until the real lies, the dark secrets, and the skeletons come tumbling out of the Van Allan closet. Twisted truths that will send Beulah running . . .
…

"Abbi Glines is the queen of steamy modern day fairytales with a twist. Sweet Little Thing will keep you guessing and needing more from the very first word all the way to the very last."
— Danielle Lagasse

“Sweet little things is a perfect blend of Romance and Drama. A book that throws curveballs unexpectedly, this book will have you addicted. You'll be begging Abbi Glines for your next fix.”

Sweet Little Thing. Loved the book, but hated the ending. Would have liked an epilogue for several years later to see how they ended up -married to someone else, alcoholics, friends, something. Not left hanging like that.

Loved it!!!. This was such a good read!!! I couldn't put it down!!!

Grammar...?. It was an amazing book but the grammar and spelling wasn’t very good.

A Chicken Wing. Pretty good story, bad ending though. I recommend it. By the way I’m pretty sure the other reviews are fake because they have usernames that a kid would use on AOL messenger and it’s 2018.

Where’s the editor. Cute story but what is with all of these TYPOS AND EDITING ERRORS?! It’s distracting and makes the whole thing seem bush league.

OMG. Twist you’d never expect... great read

Unsatisfactory. Incomplete character and situational development between the main characters before becoming a couple.

Sweet little thing. Awful writing and story line.

Hated it.. Cardboard stereotype characters in a nonsensical plot. Kept reading to see if it would improve but it did not. Won’t read the sequels.

I want my hours back.. This is the first book I wish I’d never read. Started off so good but ended so poorly. It ended so abruptly with no real explanation or support. Felt like author just got tired.

Simply amazing. I have no words for how good this book is. It’s a must read.

Overwhelmingly Amazing. I literally cried, the way the author, Glines, built the story line, humble girl hard working doing whatever it took to protect her sister, to romance and deep passion, to a huge life altering secret that changes everything! I couldn’t believe the shift in the story, I could feel the intensity almost as if I was there with the main characters in every chapter! It’s a must read!

........ There is no coming back from that ending. No point in even going on with the book series. If I could leave no stars I would. Dear future readers, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!

-.-. Was So great and then BAM .... the ending ... I would be so sick to my stomach ... kinda disappointed that it took THAT turn ... I’m going to keep reading but I just think somethings don’t need to be turned into a story 🤢🤮

Good Hook & Twists!. I understand that the spelling/grammar errors take away from the reading experience, but in my opinion the novel was still enjoyable. This book series has so many unexpected plot twists and turns it keeps you on your toes. The storyline was great and easy to follow if you’re just looking for a quick good read. I finished all three books in a day, they were worth it. I recommend to read, just get past some of the writing errors!

Good but. Really liked the trilogy but a bit disappointed with all the gramatical errors which was a constant distraction. And I'm not very good with the language. Overall good story.

Couldn't put it down!. This book was a great read. I read it in two night, actually staying up into the middle of the night to finish reading it. Words to describe this book it's 100% PAGE TURNER! This was a fun quick read that was great for my long weekend.

Grammatical Errors & Ending. This book was extremely entertaining. I finished the book in two days because of how enticed I was by the storyline. However, I deducted a star because of how many grammatical and punctuation errors there were throughout. It was distracting and it made me cringe each time. I deducted another star because the ending was very abrupt which was disappointing.

Nice peaceful novel. Nice one but i couldn’t understand why “Beula” couldn’t continue with “Jasper“?! Everything got ok then... Anyway that was great!

Best Book Ever. I loved the book, honestly. You’ll understand what I’m talking about once you read it.

What a cliffhanger!!. I couldn’t put the book down and I’m definitely looking forward to finish the series.

Ughhh. This book was perfect until the pointless ending. Why end it like that? Did you get bored writing or something to have it end like that?!

Sweet Little Thing. I have been a huge fan of Abbi Glines ever since discovering her writing back in March 2012. I think that I spent a good majority of that year falling in love with story after story from her collections! I read EVERY single one of her previous releases and began anticipating her next one even before turning to the last page. The second her newest book would release I couldn't one-click it fast enough. For the next five years the pattern continued, and I was never once disappointed. When she first announced her iBooks exclusive I was super sad that I wouldn't be able to read them right away because I'm a diehard kindle lover, but I did consider reading them on my iPhone. Of course, life got in the way and I never managed to snag a copy...until now! As soon as news broke that this story was being re-released on Amazon I jumped at the opportunity to FINALLY get my hands on Sweet Little Thing, book 1 in the Sweet Trilogy! The moment this story dropped on my kindle I couldn't help myself and ended up reading it in one sitting. I have to say that I really liked it, but I didn't love it (and immediately want to re-read it upon finishing) like I had with previous Abbi Glines releases. The storyline was good and the characters were okay, but it kind of felt like she had meshed quite a bit of Breathe (Sea Breeze #1) and Fallen Too Far (Rosemary Beach #1) together into this story. I won't say it was identical (trust me there was a shock factor towards the end that I certainly did not anticipate), but it did give me that vibe. However, it was still a very enjoyable read and I cannot wait to see what the next book in the trilogy will bring! Fingers crossed I can get my hands on that one soon because the ending has me wanting more. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of Abbi Glines!

Good read. Overall, the story was good. With that being said, the book really needs a good proofread. There were a lot of grammatical errors.

Great book!. I liked it. I was hooked within the first few pages and could not stop reading. Although I did not like the end but that’s cause I have to read the series.

THE ENDING!. I did not see the ending coming. Great book

Lovely. What a great start to a story about love

Perfect ENDING. What a good story and what a perfect ending in the first book. I cant wait to read the second.

*. Could really use editing. A lot of grammar error. But good story line.

Was this even edited?. I’m so confused. Is this a rough draft? I was constantly distracted by the typos, incorrect grammar, missing punctuation, and inconsistent spelling of names. I mean, the spelling of a main character’s name should be true same throughout the book, no?! I am no English teacher, just a normal person who learned how to read and write, and I almost had to quit reading it multiple times. Thank god I didn’t pay for the book. It appears this author has published many books... are they all like this? Does she bother hiring an editor? So bad.

Loveeee. I really liked this book only because i’m a hopeless romantic and books exactly like these, fill my heart and break it at the same time. Definitely buying book 2 and 3.

Sad ending/excellent writing. The ending sucked! Two people who struggled with pain and loneliness had a chance at love and happiness only to have the writer take it away at the end. The heartache was felt by this reader. I will not read the series.

Was so good till the end. Was so so good and then got slammed with the worst ending imaginable for any sappy romance lover

Horrible. Not a fan for so many reasons

Rushed. This story could have been better had they not rushed the head over heels love. One chapter they're barely acquainted and the next they're deeply in love? I prefer the build up, not this.

Words cannot express!. Kind of predicted the ending already but still very intriguing! Love it!

Grammar & plot lacking. The book draws you in at the beginning, only to let you down. With below average grammar and a horrible plot that drags out until the “strong beautiful girl” turns into a helpless wimp who has sex with her cousin. Lame and a waste of time

Sweet & sexy. Great characters, wonderful writing and a sexy storyline with a few twists.

What, how, I just knew it.. Why is I love Her writing so much when each time it leaves me broken on a cliff hanger. You knew half way through the book that the bottom was going to drop out and there were plenty of enough clues but at the same time you could only hope it wasn’t as twisted as it is. This book was a different amazing read. I picked it up this morning and 9 hrs later I finally put it down. It even kept my attention during the walking dead season premier tonight. This story is definitely typical abbi glines style of an impossible love story. The characters are so lovable and this story is such an easy read it’s so easy to get immersed into the story.

I finished it. Easy read that kept me awake while feeding my newborn during the nights and managed to keep my interest. But to me the writing is blocky and I felt there was a lot telling and not showing, both of which almost caused me to DNF. It didn’t get me to feel emotionally invested. But the ending made me just curious enough to want to start the next book.

Sweet Little Thing. Wow, utterly amazing! I completely lost track of time while I devoured this book page after page. I couldn’t put it down from beginning to end!! My only regret is not having purchased the other two books to drive into after finishing it. While both characters Jasper and Beulah were easy to relate to, I really enjoyed reading from Beulah’s POV. She was such a delight to read from and her relationship with her sister is so beautiful. I loved getting to read the shared moments they had together throughout the book. It was really heartwarming to see that even after Beulah had been dealt an unforgiving hand from the beginning she was still able to hold on to what’s important in life. Jasper on the other hand is the perfect image of a rich pretty boy with a bad attitude, Intrigued by Beulah’s Genuine character and lack of selfishness. I was a little unsure about him at first, he seemed selfish and arrogant. As the story unfolds I realized it was more of a facade he holds in place bc of the environment he grew up in. Portia (Jasper mother) had immediately set off warning alarms in the beginning at being someone that always has a secret agenda. DO NOT TRUST HER! Prepare yourself for an end with a killer plot twist. I’ll just say that towards the end of the book I was dramatically shaking my head torn between throwing my phone and downloading the next book as fast I could. I really can’t wait to see how it all plays out!

Sweet Little Thing. I absolutely HATE this book! Now let me tell you why .... because it was soooo BEAUTIFULLY written & made me want to read it more & more & more! I won’t ruin the book but let me say the ending UGH!!!! Hate to Love it ❤️ best book I read in a full year!

Review. Omg the ending I was not expecting at all. Great book can’t wait to start the next in the series. Love this author. Hooked since Vincent brothers series.

Sweet Little Thing. I really enjoyed this book and series, yes there are some typos but If you’re a good reader with a little imagination you will see this series for what it is - A Gem! Some people without mystery bone in their bodies don’t realize that that love is a mystery in and of itself and that you need to approach romance novels that way. Yes the story starts out twins Beulah and Heidi, cared and provided for (begrudgingly) and by a woman who is a complete mystery to them. Towards the end you realize something is very wrong and a horrible mystery reveals itself, which scatters everything they believe and causes great heartache. Unlike some other reviewers, I read The Entire Series BEFORE giving a review of Book One! I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend All Three Books! Abbi’s writing and style. She has a unique sense of being from The South that not everyone quite gets! The South has a mystery to it that is impossible to read, write or imagine without that mystery, the is always present in The South - Always! Thank You Ammi! NRM, IBooks Reader

The mistakes are unforgivable. I'm so fed up with these B authors who chose to skip the path of traditional writers to save money by not hiring a professional editor. Im also frustrated with the blog writers who get free books in return for a positive review. How come none of them say anything about all the typos? That should bother their conscious. Im just really tired of the whole scam. Nobody should accept a free gift for a 5 star review.

Sweet little thing. What a unexpected final to the first book. The way this book is written, took me inside it. It was like living the narrator feelings from pleasure to fears

Editing and ending. The ending fell flat, like all the loose ends could be easily tied up in a dainty bow. Also, whoever she hired as her editor needs to get their eyes checked. This whole series had a number of typos to include a new paragraph in the middle of a sentence. That, combined with pronoun errors and spacing was just too distracting to the storyline.

Nope nope nope. Overall, I thought the book was well written. The plot was amazing. But he ending messed me up real bad.

Loved this book!. What in the world did I just read?! Great story!! I really liked the story and the storyline. Some parts seem a little rushed/far fetched but overall this was a great read. It does end in a cliff-hanger, however it makes the read worth it all! "Being in love wasn't all bad. Sometimes it felt like warm sunshine." "You are the different, the special that breaks a man."

Sweet little thing. Absolutely LOVED it! The whole book was so intense!

Can't wait for more. Wow loved it but what an ending can't wait for book 2 to see we're the story goes.

Unrealistic and disappointing. I’m usually a massive fan of her books but this one really surprised me because it was very unrealistic and gives a poor impression of “love” to impressionable girls. The writing wasn’t very detailed in comparison to her other books. Still a fan, but I do not recommended this book!

Fantastic easy read. Another example of Abbie's fab work, I read this today on the day of release, I couldn't put it down. So glad the next instalment is out in a month.

Loved it. I loved reading all of these books. I literally could not put them down. The first books I’ve read of this author, will definitely be reading more of her books

What a book!! ❤️❤️. Loveeeee!!!!!!!

Left hanging. I am a huge Abbi Glines fan. I love the style of her writing and most of her characters will melt your heart. This book has some really great parts, but sadly I do feel that it felt a bit rushed and with not enough depth to the characters. The build up of the plot was quite comprehensive, but when it got to the main story, it felt that it ended as it was just getting started. I know this is 3 part series, but this book doesn't stand alone very well. I'm hoping when I have finished the series, that I will feel happier with the storyline.

Sweet little Thing.. Could not put this book down. What an ending!!

Sweet little thing. Book was really good hated the end

💖💞💖. Wow I can't wait for more, amazing as always x

Typos. Interesting and captivating plot-line as always from Abbi but I couldn’t help but get frustrated by multiple spelling and grammatical mistakes in the book. I’ll be reading the next in the series though!

Omg. Something is go out of control when this book being done

Predictable. It’s easy to read but the story line is very predictable. No twists nor turns.

Fab little book. A real page turner, keeps you interested right to the end with just the right amount of intrigue

Great. Loved it but few mistakes not been edited correctly but still good enough that you can ignore them

Jaw dropping. I was astonished by this book, wasn’t expecting the ending but I fell in love. There are a few typographical errors but those can be overlooked... well done Abbie

Quick and easy read. Enjoyable (but short) story about a girl with a hard upbringing working as a maid for a rich family. Then she meets the arrogant son and is somehow drawn to him.

😍😍😍😍😍. Abbi Glines did it again! I Couldn’t put this book down! Already pre Order the next two books! I’m still team #RUSH nothing can beat the fallen too far series

Decent plot, poorly edited. This novel had the potential to be somewhat enjoyable, however the editing is probably one of the worst I’ve ever come across.

What an ending. Another great story from Abi can't wait to get into the next book!

Intense and hot!. Wow you can't have an ending like that and not expect me to want an arc of the next one!! Jasper! Didn't see that one coming!! What an intense, hot, beautiful story! Abbi Glines just has a way to make you so connected with the characters, you just want to keep reading to find out more! I can't believe I have to wait for the next one!! It's pre ordered!!

Don't like it dad. Um, I lik de butte chicken one!

WHAT?!. You got me hook line and sinker! An enjoyable read!

.. .

😮. What??!!??! O God! How long do I have to wait for the next book?? I need it NOW!!! Abbi , Abbi, Abbi, you have done it again! Hooked from the first page and now desperate for the next book! Loved it. 👍👍👍👍👍🤗

Sweet. Lacks intensity. Beulah is too naive and considering her life you would expect a worldliness to her. Needs depth to entice the reader not put them to sleep.

Loved this - Need the next book Stat!. *5 Stars* Whoa. I blew through this book in less than 24 hours (with work in between of course) and after that ending, holy moly I need the next one – like, right now! I fell into this book and the characters really easily. Beulah is a really easy character to like and to love. Jasper not so much right away, but at the same time, I expected that he would thaw out. Stone really intrigues me and Portia, well I knew she was hiding something and I had a feeling it was along the lines of what she revealed in the cliff-hanger, but I’m still not 100% sure if thats all there is to it. I can definitely understand why Abbi has said that this series comes close to, if not that it betters the story of Rush and Blaire. And damned if she’s not right. This right up there with her enthralling stories and rich boys and strong girls that you fall for instantly. I really can’t wait to see how this one plays out. So glad that the remaining two books in this series are released this year. I also think theres room for the series to be extended like Abbi’s other books – I sure am intrigued by some of the other characters in the background. Highly recommend!

Wow. Just wow... Abbi you have done it again.. You make your readers fall instantly in love with your characters. I never thought I'd love a couple more then Rush and Blaire but if any couple were to take the top spot it would be Jasper and Beulah. But I'll have to wait until I read all three books before I decide that 😉 love you 😍😘❤️

Omg I need more. Once again she does it again. Now just have to wait 🙀

Can’t Wait for this book. Lets face it Abbi writes great stories, I’m sure this one will be no different.

Sweet Little Thing. 🌟💕📚 Really enjoyed this first book of this Series by Abbi Glines Wonderful Characters Strong Female Protective Loving Sister willing to do all she can to make sure her younger sister is cared for after the death of their Mother. Abnoxious Wealthy Society Characters & Romantic Interest. Abbi has got it all in this Compelling Story Cannot Wait to read the next one. 😍❤️

Hurry up Oct 19th. WOW! What a book! What an ending! Abbi you are a master at the cliffhanger ending. Watch out Rush and Blaire, you have some competition. Can't wait to read next one xo

Full of mistakes, including the plot. The author clearly doesn’t know the meaning of proof reading, and the twist at the end of the story makes no sense since she mentioned several times details about the ages of the two main characters that make the ending impossible! If this is a best selling author the world is in bad shape!!! Wish I could give it no stars.

Surprised me. I have never read anything much in the Romance genre, because I enjoy literature, I thought it beneath me to read romance novels, and indeed I never did until I read this one by Abby Glines. I realised it was well- written and more than readable, which meant I stuck with it all during one horrendous weather day. To some extent, I knew the ending would not be a happy one, nonetheless, when it did come it surprised me for in one short climactic ending, any lose ends were pulled together even if not in a happy way. So I give this book at least a 4 star rating, for I feel Abby Glines was in control of the story and the writing to the end. To conclude, I would recommend her as an author for she wrote well and knew what she was doing. A worthwhile story, an engaging read.

Great read. Prepared to get emotionally invested and wish for nothing but the best for Beulah.

Sweet Little Thing. Omg fantastic book, you never fail to amaze me 👍🏻👍🏻😊😊

Terrible ending. To be led all the way thru a love story and then have it end so abruptly is awful. You leave feeling cheated. Most of the book was good though but perhaps a little immature

Excellent as usual. Does Kinda remind me of Jax and Sadie a little but I loved that book also

Unputdownable!!. No one packs as much prickly angst and heartwarming drama on each and every single page the way Abbi Glines does. Fans of the Rosemary Beach series are going to LOSE THEIR MINDS when they meet these characters!

Sweet Little Thing. Abbi has outdone herself. This book has it all - unconditional love for a sibling, first true love and sadness that will bring tears to the eyes. A book that should not be missed.

Sweet little thing. My heart broke as this story went on secrets always come out .

Uncertainty. Five Amazing Stars Uncertainty I was just thrilled to read this amazing first book from the wonderful series, Sweet. I thoroughly adored this wonderful story and adventure of the tales from her own mothers past. Beulah Edwards expected today was going to be one of the best days I ever had. Until I quickly realised that it wasn't. My focus on my life was to keep safe and quiet and do my work. She had to get everything served on time and have the house cleaned. Especially knowing that Jasper was now arriving home so soon. Whilst Portia Van Allan kept calling me to serve her coffee. As Beulah replied sincerely to deliver her drinks as the maid of this home. Before my mother had passed away she told me the name Portia. And after her death payments were still owed on our residence and I couldn't stay there anymore. So Now I live here with Portia, as maid. Now with Jasper returning home Beulah will have to fetch him his breakfast. Beulah wasn't sure who Jasper really was. She thought maybe he was Portia' son. When suddenly they realised he was already here. Portia was completely frantic, know knowing he had someone with him too. Portia pleaded to Beulah to care for him when she quickly excited outside the room. Were Beulah had to met Jasper, who she'd had see pictures of him. She knew he was gorgeous man. He was clearly a site to see. Very tall with strong muscles. Although he seemed rather rude and arrogant instead. Simply Jasper had never known that his mother had hired another maid. He didn't even knew who I was. Knowing now Beulah had to make Jasper and his friends breakfast now. Jasper was now intending not to stay in his mothers house now. He would stay in the opposite pool house instead. How uncertain she was now about her and her Heidi, her sisters life now! I completely adored this marvellous book. Such a wonderful and delicious tale that I simply couldn't put down once. Such amazing exciting characters too. I just can't wait for the next book of this amazing series. Such a complete winner too!! I recommend this book to everyone!!

Loved the whole sweet series!!. Couldn’t put it down!!

💕💕. I need book 2😫😫😫😫😫😫😫

You are the reason I love reading. Once again Abbi you have wormed you way into my heart with your book. I become so immersed in the characters and the story line I loose all sense of time and then the book has left me hanging for the next in the trilogy

Another amazing book!. I loved it! I love all Abbi's books. I started it this AM and finished it today. Can't wait for the next in the series!!

Really?. Disappointed. The writing wasn’t great and the ending was obvious even though I didn’t want it to go that way. Reading the sex scenes before she lets you in the the secret? Gross.

Trash. It’s a good thing I got this book for free. There were so many typos and grammatical mistakes I felt like an editor reading a first draft. The story was juvenile and predictable, I saw the ending coming a mile away. Don’t waste your time on this book, save your money and your dignity!

We've seen it before. I usually really like Abbie's books, she wrote nice characters but the story was way to similar to Rush and Blaires for me to get past. There were also several spelling errors that made it seem they rushed distribution on this instead of getting it properly edited or developing a more original story.

Awesome read. I read this book not knowing if I'd enjoy it. Well it was a good story. The twist at the end was unexpected. On to the next book in the series. I hope Beulah can recover.

great read. abbi never disappoints, amazing book
