Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells Book Summary

Rogue Protocol is the third entry in Martha Wells's Hugo, Nebula, Alex, and Locus Award-winning, New York Times and USA Today bestselling series, The Murderbot Diaries.

Starring a human-like android who keeps getting sucked back into adventure after adventure, though it just wants to be left alone, away from humanity and small talk.

Who knew being a heartless killing machine would present so many moral dilemmas?

Sci-fi’s favorite antisocial A.I. is back on a mission. The case against the too-big-to-fail GrayCris Corporation is floundering, and more importantly, authorities are beginning to ask more questions about where Dr. Mensah's SecUnit is.

And Murderbot would rather those questions went away. For good.

A great read if you’re looking for action and future fantasy! Ye. It’s interesting to see Murderbots continued evolution in each situation it encounters.

Great!. I only recently discovered the Murderbot series and I cannot stop reading them… I am neglecting things around my home, my family etc. these books are so good!

Good not great. The first two books in the series I loved, this one, not as much. I still enjoyed it, but the plot was built around, just setting up the next book. This book had no direction and or any real purpose for happening. Murderbot’s character and human persona grew, but not enough to warrant this pitstop, being told. Highlights of the book were few, the introduction of Miki’s character made the book, just like Art did in the second one. I hope the 4th book, will expand on Murderbot’s growth as a character, as he finds out what it is to be part human. Low points on the book, would have to be where the story took place. In this genre, writers have to create make believe locations and technology and weave them together seamlessly. While making the reader understand something, that they don’t have first have knowledge of. In this book, the author fails to do that. I was forced to reread many passages just to figure out what “diggers” were, what they did and what they might look like for example.

Wonderful series. A great protagonist and fantastic writing

So much fun and sarcasm!. Great book for those two reasons

Too short, no depth. After the second book I felt like I was being strung along with tantalizing bits of story meant only to get me to buy the next book. Put it all into one book for cryin out loud!!!

And now for something completely different. “I hated caring about stuff. But apparently once you start you can’t stop.” I love The Murderbot Diaries. The only problem I am having is reading these out of order. Martha Wells’ series of stories about Murderbot are snarky, sometimes in questionable taste, but a lot of fun. No one takes Augmented Humans like her completely seriously; which leaves them “scratching their programming” when something new and different comes along. Makes you wonder how Murderbot was programmed originally and what “flipped the switch”? Here she makes “friends” with a “pet robot” Miki, (who makes me think of the song “Tomorrow “) and she hates “pet robots”. IMHO, Murderbot hates that she’s part human because it means she has to care...kind of a Catch-22. Highly recommended 5/5

Too expensive. Great story line with good characters . However , not worth the cost due to the short length. Do not plan to continue with this author. Can’t give less than 1 star. Don’t reward a single chapter with the cost of a book. Perhaps they will learn something. NOT HOPEFUL.

Rogue Protocol! 🤩. Best to read this series in order because the main character’s evolution and the progression of its (his/her) personality is an important thread in each story. Very much looking forward to see how the story reaches its conclusion. This is one of the best sci-fi short-story collections I ever read. This author is quite inventive and really hold your interest and attention throughout. Thanks again Martha - now on to Book (4). Another (5) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Cincy Kid 68 (JB) 👊

Page turning fun. In the current day of AI this series humanizes the potential future in a brilliant way. Great thrillers!

Wonderful books.. Love the books. Hate the price/length ratio. So I bought one to see the author compensated and checked the rest out at the library.

Love it!. This series is the best!

Nice Novella But.... The author chose to tell the story of the murderbot in the form of a connected series of novellas instead of one large novel. I can get behind this idea since all the novellas are well written page turners, but they were all released in the same year and should have just been published as a single collection. This one is not quite as good as the previous novella - ART made that story, but it is gratifying to watch the murderbot develop as a character. If you enjoy novellas and short stories, this is definitely worth a read as this is quality in that genre.

Amazing Writing. Wells is so good at creating unique and engaging characters with unexpected and refreshing twists in her storyline. SO GOOD!!!

Love Murderbot. Excellent story with Murderbot doing what he/she/they do best. Love these stories and this one is just as terrific as the previous two.

Too much tedious action, not enough character. Murderbot too busy with action to have much personality. Too much strategy, tactics, mechanics, hacking. Not enough character, relationships, story.

Awesome serie, but Apple stole 3 ebooks. Yes. I bought these on a sale, and now it appears it was a lease instead. Disgusting, I will get back to dead tree books. At least they can’t take it from you like that!

After 3. Still a fun read but third was a little tougher to get through On to book 4

Trying not no read it too quickly. Too good to burn through all at once
