4 Stars!. The overall series is about the bar called The Fix on Sixth that is about to go under. Tyree trusted the wrong guy to finance the start of the bar and now this guy wants the loan paid off in full or lose it. Employees and friends do not want to see this happen so they are willing to invest in the bar and come up with ways to raise money and bring more customers in. Jenna, one of the new partners has come up with the idea to hold a Calendar of the Month contest for the public to choose each months model for the Calendar. In this installment of the Man of the Month series, Jenna contacts Brooke, a contractor, to see if she is willing to donate the materials to remodel the bar. Brooke takes it one step better and gets television executives involved to not only pay for the remodel but to do a tv series on the remodel and airing the Man of the Month contest that are being held each month. There is just one problem. The tv execs want to add a co-host who just happens to be the jilted Groom of Brookes. I'm not the biggest fan of second chance romance but I gotta admit J. Kenner had me devouring this book because of what really happened to make Brooke walk away from Spencer. Things aren't what they seem and I couldn't wait for the truth to come out. There were a few instances that I felt got a bit rushed in the story but these books are on the shorter side. I love that we get to see the same characters in each book and I'm looking forward to the next one. ARC provided by Social Butterfly PR.

In order to save their local bar the owners of The Fix are doing a man of the month competition and a bar renovation reality tv show. Spencer Dean has lost a lot in his life, his brother to jail, and the woman of his dreams on their wedding day. Most recently he was scammed out of his money. He has one more renovation on his reality tv contract and renovating The Fix will get him past that and on to a show renovating a mansion he has always wanted. The only problem, Brooke Hamlin, the woman who left him at the alter is who he will be working with. Will that be a deal killer, or an opportunity for retribution. Brooke has been trying to get out from under her family's thumb and having her own renovation business, highlighted in a reality tv show to revitalize The Fix is perfect. Spencer's involvement is gut wrenching. Leaving him 5 years before was a choice that was forced on her, but what will Spencer do with her? To her? Her need to get her business off the ground is first and foremost and Spencer is a wild card in her plans. I liked the use of locations and atmospheres that were both in flashbacks to Brooke and Spencer's past as well as the present day. Their history is passionate and the family details from both are driving forces for the situations they have been in. The dynamic between them in undeniable and I liked that it was not needlessly torturous. Yes there was a sense of past hanging over them, but the positive side of their history and love was not dampened. I enjoyed the development of the overall story arc as well as specific plot in this book. Spencer and Brooke are the driving forces amid a torrent of various eddies. Overall I enjoyed Hold On Tight by J. Kenner and Brooke and Spencer's characters. This was a passionate, fun and fulfilling book. Angel. “A man who once would have laid down his life for her. Now, he wanted to destroy her.” Ever since I finished Down On Me I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next Man of the Month. I would love to get inside Julie’s mind when she is brainstorming her projects. I love the concept of this series and look forward to each Man’s story. If you read about Reece ~ wait to you meet his competition Mr. February! You can’t help compare and get drawn into the excitement of the calendar contest. “he was manipulative...and she was a woman who'd sacrificed her pride for the sake of her business.” This book is filled with regret, desperation, moving on, healing, forgiveness, letting go, betrayal, secrets, jealousy and manipulation...intertwined with want, chemistry, heat and the past sneaking its way to the present. This book keeps you on your toes, engaged and always wanting more of the calendar men. "Don't ever do something just to go along...You know your own mind, and that's the path you need to be walking.”

Good read in the series. This was a good second chance at love story. Brooke and Spencer were going to be married when Brooke had to walk away. Now years later they are brought together to work on a project. Spencer hates Brooke for what she did and Brooke has never moved on from Spencer. There is a fine line between love and hate and it isn't long before Spencer and Brooke are giving into all of the feelings that never left. This was a good read in this series. I loved getting to check in with last month's couple. The friends in this series are all interconnected as we watch them all find their happily ever afters while saving a bar that they love. Another good read in this series.

A must read!!!. This was a fantastic addition to the Man Of The Month series!!! Spencer comes off as a butthead at the beginning of the book, but I quickly fell in love with his personality, sexiness, and his vulnerability. He has some demons from his past he’s trying to overcome, and nails it by the end of the book. Brooke is sweet, fun, and while she came off a bit weak towards the beginning of the book, she found her voice and became a heroine most of us would love to be. These two heated up the pages, and it had the perfect amount of drama. I loved when Brooke decided enough was enough, and took her stand. Of course, you can’t have the announcement of who Mr February was without something big happening, and this didn’t disappoint!! This is definitely a must read!

Review: Man of the Month 2: Hold On Tight. Hold on Tight by J. Kenner is the second book in her new 12 book Man of the Month series. Told in dual POV this is the second chance love story of Spencer Dean and Brooke Hamlin and the series story arc of this larger group of friends efforts to save their favorite bar, The Fix on Sixth. Spencer and Brooke have a past together. It's complicated if you know all the details as we readers do early on, and heartbreaking when you only know some of the details as poor Spencer has only known for the past few years. He is set for revenge on Brooke, she is, after all, the one who broke his heart and has ruined all relationships for him after their split. Brooke has been carrying the secret reason for leaving Spencer on her shoulders alone for a long time. She is still head over heels in love with him and had the best of reasons for what she did. Unfortunately, she never told him why and now, having to work together on their home improvement show filming renovations at The Fix, things get complicated and heated FAST. Well-written and well-paced, this was another great read and I'm excited with how each of the upcoming characters are gently weaved into the plots in earlier stories without being obtrusive to the current story. Enjoy!

Loved it. I love the concept of this series. Although this is book two, I felt that it was so well written that it could be read solo. It was that awesome. The desire between Spencer and Brooke was hot! I felt each of their sorrows and quickly became their biggest cheerleader. That kind of bond with characters and readers isn't luck. It's pure talent. And J Kenner has that in spades! A fantastic read!

Angel with a Little Bit of Devil. More of a 4.5 than 5 star read for me, but loved it nonetheless. I felt like I flew through this book. This book focused more on Spencer and Brooke (the lead characters), whereas the first book in the series really set the scene and introduced a lot of the men who would be the leads in future books and possible females leads. You'll be introduced to some new characters that will probably appear in future books and get to know some characters we were introduced to in the first book. Brooke, the daughter of wealthy parents; Spencer, the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, with a bit of criminal past. It's your typical second chance love story of good girl and bad boy that is written well. There are no whiny characters, just strong characters dealing with reasonable self doubt. I do wish the revenge aspect had been carried out a tad bit longer. While we can all pretty much figure out what ending is going to be of the series, I'm curious to see all the twists and turns of the individual books as we learn all about all of these characters, as well as the story as a whole. Because I've read so many books from this author, I think I'm more excited for the books of characters we've encounter in previous series. Only time will tell and Book 3 will be here before we know it.

Second chance romance with a Romeo & Juliet feel! Loved it!. Hold on Tight is the second book in the new Man of The Month series. This book is the story of Mr. February and the story of Brooke and Spencer. Nothing is as delicious as second chance romance with a Romeo and Juliet type feel! Brooke was introduced in book one when she met with Jenna to go over renovations for The Fix, the Sixth Street bar in Austin that they are trying to save from financial troubles. Brooke has her own Commercial Renovation Company, much to the disappointment of her parents. They are from the upper crust, her father is a lawyer and her mother is a doctor. They expected her to go to medical school and much to their disappointment, she chose another path. Spencer is from a poor family. His father went from job to job and they lived in a trailer. His brother joined a local gang and was caught and put in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He was just in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong people. Spencer learned the construction trade from his father. Spencer and Brooke met and fell in love. Brooke’s family didn’t want Brooke to marry Spencer because of his family and background. While planning a future with Brooke, Spencer worked construction and he was good with renovations. So good he approached the network about a television show and became a network star with Spencer’s Place. All was in motion for a happily ever after until Brooke called it off and they have been incommunicado for the last five years. Spencer continued with Spencer’s Place until his friend and investment manager does some shady dealings and Spencer is in financial trouble. Spencer leaves the network and Spencer’s Place with one more season to film on his contract and returns to Austin. Spencer has been back in town for months and hasn’t run into his ex-finance Brooke until their paths cross when Brooke tries to broker a deal with the network to do a reno show on The Fix. The deal the network makes with Brooke is they will do the show if she does it with Spencer. He has a project on an old home he wants to do on Spencer’s Place, but the network plays the game if you do the reno show with Brooke then you can do the project on Spencer’s Place. They know of Spencer and Brooke’s troubled history and want that drama for the show. I really disliked Spencer in the beginning. He is bitter and very angry. He wants Brooke to hurt as badly as he did, and he wants revenge. Brooke and Spencer have not spoken in five years and he has no idea the hell and heartbreak Brooke has been through since she had to call off the wedding to the only man she has ever loved and still loves. Brooke and Spencer have a lot of issues and hurt to move through. This is a bittersweet second chance romance. There are secrets, bitterness, and regret that have to be dealt with. As the story unfolds, details are revealed, and secrets are told. My heart hurt for both of them. Spencer redeemed himself and I began to root of them to turn their relationship around. This second chance romance with a Romeo and Juliet feel is just the thing to help with the winter blahs. I really enjoyed Mr. February and really look forward to Mr. March!

Mr. February & a Second Chance Romance. Any future together for Spencer Dean and Brooke Hamlin stopped being a possibility five years ago when Brooke broke Spencer’s heart and walked away without a second glance and without an explanation as to the reasons behind her abrupt departure. But the past always has a way of encroaching on the present and when Brooke’s future career depends on Spencer’s acquiescence, it’s clear that if these two don’t make amends and have an honest conversation about what happened all those years ago, Spencer and Brooke’s hearts will never mend and Brooke will never have a chance to prove she can handle herself in front of and behind the camera. I love second chance romance stories, especially when the love the hero and heroine felt for each other never dissipated. But while it’s clear that it was Brooke’s actions that destroyed her relationship with Spencer, what readers are told about the circumstances surrounding their break up is much needed information - insight that absolutely proves that the decision was forced upon her and the fact that she’s berated herself and broken her own heart many times over attempting to deal with the fallout of her involuntary act shows just how much she regretted losing the only man she’s ever loved. The premise behind J. Kenner’s Man of the Month series is to provide fast paced sultry and sweet reads that invite readers to experience hot and heavy encounters between the heroes and the heroines, and while there is some backstory provided and the plot has some substance to it in terms of why the characters are coming together - to save their favorite bar - The Fix on Sixth - and how all the characters are connected, these stories aren’t meant to dive too deep into anything too dramatic or emotional, keeping things mostly light and interweaving those moments with the sizzling encounters experienced by the hero and the heroine. Hold on Tight. Brooke and Spencer’s story is one that test time over and over. It will definitely keep you on your toes and at the edge of your seat. Most of all it’s a page turner fill with twists and turns along the way.

Really nice read. I'll admit I hated Spencer for a chapter. I saw where he was going and I wasn't happy. Luckily it worked out. I was so excited to see that there was a continuous side to the story. It picked up where the first one left off (maybe there was some overlap). But the characters are all still there. Each playing their role. I liked this book though not as much as the first one. I was so glad that Spencer and Brooke had history. It made it easier for them to fall in love. The only downfall I had was some of the dialogue seemed forced. It didn't flow. It felt...wrong. But I'll get over it. Still a great read.

What a perfect title!!!!. I don’t think a book has ever had a better title. I am so sucked in to this series. I am so glad Julie is writing this series. This is the second book in the Man of the Month series. So far as we have gone along in this series it is only getting better. In this book Spencer is a man that is from the wrong side of the tracks. Brooke is a woman that has that family that has the money and means to get things done. Luckily for Spencer,Brooke is nothing like her Dad. Five years before Brooke’s Dad made her choose between her happiness and a person’s life. Now can Spencer and Brooke get past everything to work together to better their lives. I love these books.

Great addition to a series that is shaping up to be brilliant. Hold on Tight is Book 2 in the Man of the Month Series and in true J. Kenner fashion each book gives us another man to swoon and fall in love with, in this book we get to know Spencer Dean and Brooke Hamlin the girl who left him at the alter five years ago. Spencer doesn’t trust women and who could blame him after giving Brooke his all, she left him broken, maybe now is the time to break her.... Spencer is a tv icon who has a remodeling show and he needs to film the final show on his contract but there is a catch to end his contract and get help with his new project he needs to co host with Brooke ..... This book has it all, love, revenge, second chances and a few twists and turns along the way, the chemistry is sizzling and the banter is perfect. Once again this author has given us a real page turner that I couldn’t put down, looking forward to next Man if the Month !!!!

A great addition. 4.5 Star Review Hold On Tight (Man of the Month #2) by J Kenner The second in the series and in my opinion almost as good as the first book. What happens when reformed bad boy and reality TV star Spencer Dean comes face to face with Brooke Hamilton, the woman, who left him at the altar 5 years ago. This is the situation that Spencer finds himself in, not only that but it appears Brooke holds his future and that of his new show in her hands and vice a versa. Talk about complicated,this makes for an interesting yet quick read that left me wanting more. Hold on Tight is a second chance at love story. Can they put their differences aside and work together to ensure both get the success they deserve, or will fate and the meddling of Brooke’s father prove to much once again? Although told from both perspectives, the author also had to write about the past which had shaped Spencer and Brooke’s present, this was melded together so well that I had no trouble following at all. My only concern was that one minute Spencer was bound and determined to exact revenge on Brooke and appeared to hate her with a passion and then the next he was back in love with her; it all seemed just a tad too hurried, but that is only my opinion. I will admit that I would love to have my own Spencer Dean in my life and I was happy that he and Brooke were able to overcome the horrors of the past and look to a future together. The characters were easy to relate to, not only the main characters but the supporting ones as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this extremely well written and entertaining story and I cannot wait for Cameron’s book in the Man Of The Month series.
