Gripping. The first of many in the series, a very good read and so gripping. Having read a few in the series now I really enjoy her style and method of writing, not to mention the stories themselves. I have now finished the fifth and is just as good as the first. Brilliant author.

Gripping read. I enjoyed this book a lot, it kept me gripped and wanting to know more throughout so made for a quick read. Not my favourite so far from this series (I have been reading them in the wrong order, and so far ‘her pretty bones’ is my favourite with the most twists and turns in my opinion). However, it makes for a good read and an exciting ending!

Good story. I enjoyed the book but just could not stand how much reference there was to the detective & officer having colds & too much detail about nose blowing & spitting lol. I like to enjoy a cuppa & read but had to drink first or I’d be put off. I thought the amount of times it was referred to & detail was so weird. Just bizarre. Good read if you’re not put off by that kind of thing

Had my heart racing. My New Year’s resolution was to start reading and my god this was a great way to start. This book had me gripped from page 1 and at times had my heart racing. I’ve already downloaded the next in the series.

Extremely slow. Overall,I found the book amazing,except for at times when Debbie managed to get away but then Jeff found her,the author put too many chapters in between the next scene of Debbie to write about Gina interviewing people linked to Debbie’s disappearance even though they have very little information.The author also wrote a lot unnecessary information and made the story extremely slow in the middle.The end was satisfying to read after wasting time reading about Gina’s perspective.Still a good book,I recommend to people with incredible patience.

Good read, disappointing ending.. The story had me hooked from the off, so much detail, however the ending was very quick, I was left disappointed and there was to many unanswered questions.

Unputdownable. Read this over two days, fantastic thriller.

Needs another proofread but exciting all in all. The book in itself was pretty good, enjoyed the plot and some of the characters but some sections felt rushed, with some bits not reading well and a slip up on a characters name once or twice which took me out of it a bit. Still think it’s worth the read but definitely not for the faint hearted.

Holiday reading. A great book to read by the pool. Will definitely read the next in the series

Well written detective thriller. An introduction to Gina Harte, another welcome detective series. The scenario is unusual and the tension builds up, with scenes flipping between the investigation and past events. Even as the resolution approaches, it’s still not certain how it will all turn out, which keeps you reading to the end.

Easy read. I have not read a book for years & I finished this over two days. Simple story, easy to read & keep up with the characters & story line. Wish more had been given to the ending. I enjoyed it but looking for a more challenging read.

The next girl. The best crime novel I have read to date. The novel has you gripped right from the very beginning putting you almost in a trance as all’s you can think about is the book, so much so I’ve finished it in less than 24 hours! The way that the author makes it so there is so many different ways one thing can go and leaves you edging to know the outcome and the rollercoaster of emotions that they cleverly put you through, it is just absolutely phenomenal! It is a masterpiece!

Gripping story but ending flopped. Great mystery novel and really compelling but right at the end there’s no real reason for the kidnapping. The killer is apprehended but there was no reason for the initial kidnapping.

Would burn it but it’s an ebook. Truly awfully written. What twist? I kept reading hoping for a return on my time but got nothing.

Gripping. First chapter didn’t have me wanting to continue, but after many days I’d decided to start again, and once I got past chapter one I found it hard to put down, exciting read all the rest of the way through.

The type of book you can't put down.. "The Next Girl" is a great book, that draws you in from the first page. Learning Gina's history is good, and it's written in such a way as to not overshadow the main plot. My only gripe would be that the spelling and grammar could be better. When I'm lost in the story, and the words are incorrect, it can be off putting.

Good Mystery. The book was interesting and kept me intrigued. There was good character development and the pacing worked well I did not think this novel had many thriller aspects and I felt that the ending\reveal was a let down. However, still a good read.

Not my cup of tea. 100 pages in and no idea what is going on, maybe it all comes together but 7 chapters is a generous try! Each chapter changes stories and characters.

An easy read. A fairly standard police procedural about a kidnapped woman and the police’s attempts to locate her. The detective Gina Harte is likable enough and the story has a few interesting facets, as Gina battles her own past demons of domestic abuse. It was fairly predictable though and a bit melodramatic in places. I wouldn’t read any more in the series.

Despair, angst and visually intimidating. I couldn’t put the book down.. Poor Deborah. I could feel each emotion through every character’s part. This book had me crying at the end. Loved this book. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Great suspense story. An abandoned baby requires police to revisit a 4yr old cold case about Deborah who vanished one night. DI Gina boldly leads the case with a particular personal interest in domestic violence against women. Story told through Deborah and Gina’s POV. Great suspense story.

Nail bitting and amazing!. I could not and did not want to put this book down! The story is gripping and keeps you on the edge of your seat from the beginning. Very well written. I highly suggest this book if you like crime thrillers!

good plot repetitive writing. meh. i read to the end because i wanted to know if Gina would tell Hannah the truth. the writing was repetitive and the book could’ve been a short story without all the snotty noses, copious tears, and boring dialogue
