A very entertaining read. I was pleasantly surprised at just how good this book was. The characters are engaging and charming and the plot carries itself beautifully. I am excited and so looking forward to Angelique's story!

An amazing book. What a delightful, funny book. I laughed so hard I cried at some of the one liners and vast characters the author featured. What a great imagination she has. Looking forward to re-reading this one and the next up coming one.

So good!. The start to this new series totally delivers. Dynamic characters, clever dialogue, steamy romance, and a set up that’s bound to go in all sorts of good directions as the series progresses. Very excited for the next installment.

Can’t stop falling asleep. Face it. Most romance novels aren’t unique. But at least many are well-written. This one is neither unique or well-written and I can’t finish a chapter without falling asleep and having to restart. I read 4-6 books a week. I devour words. But the banality of this one makes me feel nauseous.

Fantastic first book in a new series. Julie Anne Long rates right at the top when it comes to historical romance, and I have the books to prove it! So when I learned of a new series I knew I had to check it out. Wow! I was bowled over, not with the storytelling, because that has always been stellar, but by the freshness and the wonder I experienced, from the very beginning of “Lady Derring Takes a Lover”. I expected that I would greatly enjoy it, but the characters and their situation grabbed hold from the first paragraph and continued to keep me enthralled all the way through. I adore the ladies of the Grand Palace on the Thames! Their spirit and fortitude, their out-and-out determination to succeed is...outstanding. They are inspirations. Then there are the others who become part of the fantastic cast characters. So much variation. Those who stay become people I love to spend time with. There is never a dull moment at the Grand Palace on the Thames!

I adored this bookn. I adored this book the heroine, the hero, the supporting characters. Starting over, reinventing yourself and choosing to be kind.
