Present day. Samantha Harper is a journalist desperate for a break. When she stumbles on a letter from the past, the contents shock and move her. The letter is from a young mother, begging to be rescued from St Margaret's. Before it is too late.
Sam is pulled into the tragic story and discovers a spate of unexplained deaths surrounding the woman and her child. With St Margaret's set for demolition, Sam has only hours to piece together a sixty-year-old mystery before the truth, which lies disturbingly close to home, is lost for ever...

Overall pretty good. The ending felt rushed and I am not totally sure I like the whole twin thing, but otherwise I really enjoyed this book

The Girl in the Letter. Loved this book!!

The Girl in the letter. This was a very sad story, one that we might repeat if womenā€™ s right to choose is reversed. A terrible time in a womanā€™s life. Compounded by the cruelty of a religion that prays on human choices that are different than theirs. A good read with an ever twisting plot

A heart wrenching story I couldnā€™t put down!. Such a well written heart wrenching story! I was intrigued and couldnā€™t put it down! It makes me think of all the young mothers forced to give their baby away.

Astounding!. A tale that not only guides you along with the immaculate flow of storytelling involved, but truly gives you an eye opening experience. Feeling every word said as if you were the there! The flow the author has is perfection!

Page turner. I literally couldn't put this book down.

Very Moving. I've read several historical fiction that have been thoroughly researched regarding the Magdalen houses in U.S., &U.K. I'm Catholic and it's unfortunately another chapter in our history to be horrified. Writing is very visual and fast moving. Can feel urgency & angst. Great job Ms. Ennis, I just bought " The Lost Child".

The girl in the letters. If you plan on reading before bed this is not the book. I couldnā€™t put it down. You have to keep track of quite a few caricatures at first before they start to come together like an intricate web of horror and sadness. Leaves you hurting for all the pain these caricatures suffered.

The Girl in the Letter. This was a book you couldnā€™t put down!

Great Read!. I loved this book! It is full of twists and turns until the very end.

A new favourite. Itā€™s been about two weeks since I have read this book and I have not been able to stop thinking about it! This is a story that will stick with me for the rest of my life! Iā€™m amazed at how the author was able to create such dynamic characters, most of whom either suffered so much pain in their lives, or caused pain for other. This book really puts a face to all the women and babies who suffered through the horrors of mother and baby catholic homes. Such a tragic part of history that is not well known and has been or at least tried to be well hidden for decades! It was interesting to have the point of view of so many of the different characters through the novel, and it shed a light on how these situations are much more complex than we initially think. It makes me sick to read about stories like this one, but at the same time it amazes me the resilience women have had to face through time. Overall it is a intricately tragic and thrilling story told through multiple generations. I highly recommend this book. ā€¢ā€¢ BookTube: aGirlWithBookss Insta: @aGirlWithBookss Goodreads: Shaelene (aGirlWithBookss) Twitter: @aGirlWithBookss

The girl in the letter. A waste of time. The narrative drags on and on, confusing, and such a predictable ending.

The Girl in the Letter. Amazing story right to the very end.

The girl in the letter. Words fail me as the usual ones pale when it comes to this book. Gripping from page to page. Unbelievably sad, so real. I didnā€™t want it to end. The constant twists the plot took had me on the edge of my seat. To think how many suffered in these homes is haunting and unbearable to come to terms with. Wow!! Words fail me. Absolutely Fantastic book.

The Girl in the Letter. Well written and realistic but I canā€™t say that I liked it. What happened in the book was so grisly and horrible that I have had nightmares. I can see how it would be socially redeeming but it was a journalistā€™s essay about the horrors of the past that I would not have read had the blurb indicated thatā€™s what it was.
