Very useful!. Living in Texas most of my life and being around so many Spanish speakers, I've always had a grasp of the language. I even took some Spanish classes in high school. One issue for me is understanding Spanish when it is being spoken because of the speed because it is usually too fast for me to translate. That was not a problem listening to and reading this book. The speakers spoke at a very comfortable pace and were easy to follow. They were very clear and understandable. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to learn Spanish or refresh themselves on it.

Great Book Great Buy!. I enjoyed this audiobook. It helps that Lucia Bodas and Abel Franco narrate the story in a clear way for us non-Spanish-speaking listeners. Since I’m in the process of learning how to speak in Spanish this is a wonderful way to do so. I hope you guys give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Great short stories. Having to learn by short stories was different and unique. I really liked the idea and format and it was alittle easier to learn with them being structured in a short story form. My only real personal preference is that the english version at the end would be after the actual short story so that as you are reading, you can quickly compare right after. I found it difficult to go back and fourth after each short story but overall it was minor. Well worth the reading and to learn a language.

EXCELLENT!!!. Timing of the narrator is pretty accurate since he makes the pauses when he has to and his rythmm eases the reader to follow the pronunciations. It's nice to have a glossary right at the end of each page! So I don't need to scroll anytime I want to know a particular word meaning. Vocabulary is current and it appeals to the normal daily talking expressions. The best part is the bilingual summary I can find at the end of each chapter, it's a very smart idea to read again so I can make sure that I understood.

Awesome book to check out!. This book is extremely helpful! I learned 20 years ago and I am able to read and write it but with the audio it helps me remember the pronunciation of the words as well the pattern of speech. It was great refresher on the conjunction for the Spanish verbs. The notes that are underneath the section are very helpful when learning what the words mean. I would recommend this book because the stories are short and also easy to learn, the stories are very well written in words to help you learn how to understand it. The audio is great and the length of the stories are short. Check it out!

A smart way to learn Spanish. This audio book is brilliant, you have all the helpful tools you need to learn Spanish. Each short story comes complete with an audio file which reads along as you go through the book. Between each story some words are pulled from the paragraph and listed with their English meaning. There are also practice questions available for the reader to test their understanding of the short story. Not only is the book an excellent tool, they way it can be accessed is very convenient. The book can be accessed through iBooks or iTunes which makes it extremely easier to use. All my apple devices are synced up therefore I can access the book on either one. In this day and age people are no longer physically purchasing books in stores, they are purchasing online and saving them down on their devices. I would definitely recommend this audio book as it has helped me tremendously in understanding and learning Spanish.

Amazing Spanish Learning. I took spanish in high school and never was able to retain that much information but with reading/listening to this book that changed. It helped me to be able to replay certain parts I didn’t understand while also seeing how things were spelled and written. I liked how the definitions were provided and the multiple choice questions helped a lot. I liked how i could do them right after reading then come back later and practice them to see if i could still get the right answer.

Love it!. These short Spanish stories are great! You can listen to the book and follow along with the text at the same time! It did not take me long at all to learn how to use this book. It is great for people who are auditory and/or visual learners!

Multi-Faceted Learning Tool. There are a couple of features I really appreciate about this book: First, the mixed media format. Learning Spanish in a traditional school setting we focused heavily on reading and writing but rarely touched on speaking/listening. I appreciate that this book integrates listening and reading to create a more well rounded experience. Second, the consistent definitions at the end of every section. Reading more advanced Spanish was always a challenge for me because I had to look up so many words. Helpful & Enjoyable!. This audio book was extremely enjoyable and was incredibly helpful to me as someone who wanted to freshen up their Spanish. I took two years in high school, but felt like I never retained what I learned. By learning this way, with audio and reading along to the text, I found it easier to learn phrases and verbs. All the short stories were realistic and the narrators were natural sounding. The reader they used to record is extremely crisp, clear, and slowed to a speed that you don't feel overwhelmed. Absolutely Amazing. With the use of other spanish app i learned vocabulary but i struggled hearing words when native speakers talk. This book helped me process it better. I love that i have the option to listen to the story rather than read it. Sometimes my eyes hurt staring at a screen for so long. Very useful. I have been attempting to learn Spanish for about 8 years now, and I wish I would have had something like this book earlier on. It’s a collection of short stories that are read aloud by a native Spanish speaker. Though I can tell he has a Spanish accent (rather than Mexican that I am most accustomed to), he reads at a pace that makes it very easy to follow along. Vocabulary is also included throughout the chapter, which is very helpful. Each short story has a theme (i.e. daily routine, vacations, months/seasons, food, etc.), which is super practical for new learners. It’s very useful to hear the words as you are reading, and I would highly reccommend this method and book as a whole to anyone trying to hone their Spanish skills.

Great for learning Spanish!. This book is a fantastic way to brush up on your Spanish. I took Spanish in high school and wanted to revisit the language in my adulthood. It gives you fun little short stories in Spanish, but then provides summaries at the end of each story, in English. Even better, the more difficult words in a story have a vocabulary insert at the bottom of the page that tells you what that word means. This book offers great value to anyone wanting to learn or relearn Spanish in a fun and interesting way!

A fantastic read. I really enjoyed this e-book as well as its audio addition. I've taken Spanish in both high school and undergrad but I have not had the chance to practice my Spanish on a consistent basis in person. As a result, I am a bit past a beginner and I am not currently interested in taking Spanish courses in person. This book was a great opportunity to practice my listening and reading comprehension skills for the Spanish language. I was able to recognize words and phrases that I already know, learn new words and phrases, as well as the appropriate conjugation for certain verbs. I really enjoyed that they included vocabulary definitions in the body of the text instead of all the way in the back of the book. It saved me time when going through the story and it quickly helped clarify any words that were unfamiliar to me. I recommend this book if you are a beginner or intermediate Spanish learner who is looking for a different and relaxing way to improve their skills beyond workbooks and classes.

This book has good organization of contents; for example, it has the cute drawing at the beginning of each story, the text part of the radio, and some questions and a summary of each story. The cute drawing can attract readers to read it. Meanwhile, in the text part, it has the English explanation of difficult Spanish words. It will be easier for readers to understand and learn this language. The question part also can test whether the reader has the correct understanding of each story. Every story is not super long so that the reader can pay more attention to each story; they are also not too short. When readers finish reading each story, they will also feel the achievement. It will promote readers to read and learn more. I love this radio book very much!

Spanish short stories for beginners. I really love the Spanish language, so it was very nice to find a book that taught it so well. I had studied spanish in high school for two years, but hadn't felt I had learned in a productive and memorable fashion. This book has taught me so much, in an organized and easy-to-follow way. I especially appreciated the bolded keywords with translation, and my favorite part, the audio that comes along. I now feel like I can read aloud and be confident that I am pronouncing correctly. Great vocabulary. This is a great tool for those who have a slight idea of the language! I love how varied the stories are, bringing so much vocabulary to the table. Best of all, it is actually very pertinent vocabulary, not like things you would learn on traditional classes and never actually use. A good example is that this weekend I was walking by a small Cuban café and they had a sign saying they need "camareros". If it wasn't for this audiobook I would never know the real meaning of that word. The audios have really great quality, and I recommend listening to them with headphones. That way you can focus on only the lesson and it is easier to pause amd replay without having to go back to the first page.

I liked having the option of listening to the narrator while I read the stories so I can hear the correct pronunciation of words. The highlighted text and glossary provided are very helpful in verifying the meaning of unfamiliar words and phrases. My favorite thing, though, is the summary at the end of each story - both in Spanish and English. Through this summary I am able to check my comprehension and correct anything that I may have misunderstood. This book really pushed my Spanish learning off to a good start. I highly recommend it!

This book helps provide realistic topics/scenarios that are important not only to understand, but to engage in conversation about as well. The narrator is clear and easy to follow, and having the glossary available (throughout the text, and in a full list at the end of the story) is very helpful! There are questions to test your comprehension as well. I especially enjoyed reading the summaries at the end, both in Spanish and English, to help solidify my understanding of the text. A really fun and nice book to learn Spanish!. I recommend this book to anyone looking to learn Spanish, beginner or expert! It looks like it's a long book and audiobook, but in reality, it is not! Each chapter starts off with you listening to a story. Follow that is a list of Spanish vocabulary with the English translation on the side. Then at the end of each chapter is a quiz along with a summary both in English and Spanish about the chapter. The chapters and stories aren't too long, so you won't be sitting on a chapter for hours. This reminds me of high school learning in a way. Reading a passage, then reviewing that passage. It's very easy to follow in this type of manner. I found all the stories to be very engaging for the most part. They come with cute illustrations as well. The material has over thousand's of Spanish words to be learned. There were still a few words I was confused about and I had to look them up myself, but for the most part, everything was well put together. Highly recommended!

I love how the book gives you the most important terms you need to know in order to follow the stories. It was really easy to read through and helpsto hear the audio to make sure you have the correct accent when pronouncing the words. Another great thing about this book is that it has questions all in Spanish on what you’ve just read. That way you can double check that you’re actually understanding what you read. I highly recommend this book and think that all beginners should try it out! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Well Done. This book has a strong understanding of what it takes to teach the language presented in it. The text is easy to follow along with the audio as long as you don’t have to pause it and come back to it. If you have to do this then it can get a little tricky to find your place in the story since you have to leave the page you’re on to hit pause. Also the words aren’t highlighted as the narrator is speaking for when you do pause to find the your place. Overall if you go through a story in one sitting there shouldn’t be any problem and even if you do pause it, it doesn’t hurt to start over. After all, repetition and practice is how things are perfected.

Makes learning Spanish enjoyable. I took Spanish for three years in high school, but except for occasional phrases, I retained little of it. I found the contrived scenarios we always had repetitive and useless in actually trying to engage anyone in Spanish. This book is intriguing in that you can listen to the Spanish storyteller while reading the words as well. Several of the phrases are in English as well – as breaks between blocks of story texts. These phrases help give you the general meaning of the story, and just like learning to read in English as a kid, you figure out things by comprehension. I noticed I was remembering the words more frequently this way – and not only starting to learn Spanish but enjoying the process as well!

I love how easy it is to learn Spanish!. If there was a such thing as a “best finds list”, this book would be on it! I've been learning spanish for several years and most of my learning takes place at work with short conversation. With this book, I am able to learn VERY quickly. Something I struggle with is memorization, so when I hear the word I need to see it. This book provides audio stories coupled with the story in text to easily follow along with. Absolutely Necessary!. I want to start by saying that there was a key point in the Introduction that really caught my attention. ”Some people suggest starting out with children's books. But is it really effective?” I have tried to learn Spanish by reading kids books and watching kids shows, but it proved ineffective. That being said, the stories in Spanish: Short Stories for Beginners (Vol. 1) are comprehensive and fairly easy to follow. With the included audio, you can read along and get a very accurate idea of the proper pronunciation. With the included glossary, you can look at key vocabulary to retain and use in everyday situations. This book has improved my grammar and pronunciation significantly, while also building up my vocabulary. Well worth the purchase!

An engaging way of learning Spanish. Being a new Spanish speaker, this book helps me expand my vocabulary and with audio, I can improve my articulation and pronunciation of several words that I struggled with before. After each short story, there is a list of important words you should know, which I find very helpful. If you are starting to learn Spanish, this book is a must.

Learning Spanish. I enjoyed the first 5 and last stories. The others were strange. I thought the speaker was speaking a little too fast for a beginner level. He starts off slow but continues to increase his speaking speed thru each of the stories.

I have a small knowledge of the language from taking a class or two in high school, but it has been many years since I have practiced. For me, a huge benefit of the book was being able to listen to the stories in Spanish while I read along to the English text. I was able to start and stop the section(s) at any time to review the vocabulary used as there are Spanish to English definitions for selected terms throughout its entirety. I definitely can say, after listening/reading this audiobook, I can actually speak and interpret the Spanish language better than I ever have. I really enjoyed this book!!!. This e-book is AMAZING. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I’ve listened to its audiobook before and loved it. I wasn’t sure if there was an e-book version of it, so when I found out there was, I was so happy! I’m the type of person who likes to read more than listen, so I think this would be more helpful to me in learning Spanish better than the audiobook alone. The best part of this e-book is that audio is included. While reading the stories, you’ll be able to know the correct spelling of the words, as well as listen to their correct pronunciations and enunciations. The speaker narrates at a reasonable speed, just enough to be able to read simultaneously. The font size and line spacing of the book are also good, which makes it more conveniently readable. There’s also a simple illustration per story. It might be more appealing to children, but it captures the reader’s attention and makes it less boring. I also love that there are questions at the end of the story that test if you truly understood what you read/listened to. There’s also an English summary and a vocabulary part where you’ll be able to learn new words and their proper usage. I highly recommend this book for anyone who’s starting to learn Spanish. It does not only practice your Spanish comprehension, you also get to learn via the vocabulary part and it entertains you with the nice short stories. Make sure you also listen to the audio for a better and more effective learning experience!

Pleasant and easy way to learn Spanish!. In love with these short stories! Some of the things I found the most pleasant I’d like to share: The structure of the book is so easy - after a small paragraph or a dialog there’s a glossary so you don’t need to look for the translation of the words you don’t know! Also, the stories are great at holding your attention. I would read and listen one story at a time and never felt tired after that! Nothing than those text books where you struggle to go through every page. High quality audio was like honey to my ears!!! Overall I had a blast with this book and it helped me a lot understanding my Spanish-speaking co-workers I couldn’t understand for years!

Great Audiobook. I personally think as a native Spanish speaker teacher, that this kind of audiobooks are just perfect to initiate the “learning a new language” process.
