Red War by Vince Flynn & Kyle Mills Book Summary

This instant #1 New York Times bestseller and “modern techno-thriller” (New York Journal of Books) follows covert operative Mitch Rapp in a terrifying race to stop Russia’s gravely ill leader from starting a full-scale war with NATO.

When Russian president Maxim Krupin discovers that he has inoperable brain cancer, he’s determined to cling to power. His first task is to kill or imprison any countrymen threatening him. But when his illness becomes increasingly serious, he decides on a dramatic diversion—war with the West.

Upon learning of Krupin’s condition, CIA director Irene Kennedy understands that the US is facing an opponent who has nothing to lose. The only way to avoid a confrontation that could leave millions dead is to send Mitch Rapp to Russia under impossibly dangerous orders. With the Kremlin’s entire security apparatus hunting him, he must find and kill a man many have deemed the most powerful in the world.

The fate of the free world hangs in the balance in this “timely, explosive novel that shows yet again why Mitch Rapp is the best hero the thriller genre has to offer” (The Real Book Spy).

Boring and not up to past standards. I have read a good many of past books in this series. It appears that the current writing has lost much of the subtle appeal of Mitch Rapp. This plot is not up to past standards as well. There comes a time to move on.

Disappointed. Not worth the read compared to prior books in the series Characters are poorly interrelated you really don’t care what happens to anyone . By the end rapp is such a disconnected figure you have no sympathy left for him. The plot lines get sillier and more unbelievable as the scenes unfold .

Red war. Although this is not Vince Flynn, it’s well worth the read and I look forward to the next adventures of Mitch Rapp. Thanks for not letting his fans down.

Not much of a thriller. This book never put me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen. It just was not that exciting. Which baffles me given how interesting a war with Russia would be in the fictional sense. Kyle Mills made Mitch a bit weaker and less aggressive than were used to and poor Azarov was just pitiful when in previous books he’s been quite the interesting character. All in all weak plots that never really go anywhere disappointed me as an avid Mitch Rapp fan. Scott Coleman gets left behind but it’s glossed over. Mitch gets pinned in a corner and some how just walks away. That’s not very exciting. This book is lacking a flame that drove the previous along to nail biting endings.

Another great read!. Thanks for continuing the story, can’t wait for the next chapter.

Not as good as the others!. Plot was not believable and was all over the place....

I Liked It 👍🏻. From the first page to the last, I loved reading this novel. Some scenes were written with such crisp description I could see and feel everything that was happening. And some parts were even funny. One thing in particular I appreciated was I never felt lost. I always knew who was who and where everybody was, which is hard to do when Rapp is flying from continent to continent. This level of clear writing doesn’t happen by accident. Overall, an excellent read. Bravo Mr. Mills 👏🏻

Red War. Kyle Mills. Russia’s leadership is in chaos. Their president Krupin has inoperable brain cancer. He has started a war against Nato and invaded Latvia. Other Russians in leadership roles are turning against him. World War III looms in the shadows. Another excellent read in this series!! Enjoyed immensely!!

Another Vince Flynn Pageturner. Keeps you on the edge of your seat and the theme is oh so current today!

fast paced and well done. Another really good read, fast paced, fun and a quick read. Very enjoyable and nicely done!

Missing the mark. Kyle Mills is brave choosing to step into Vince Flynn’s novels and continue on Mitch Rapp’s character. I have true respect for Mills. Where I feel this novel is missing its mark is Rapp is a hero not a monster. Some of the detail and descriptions in this book portray Rapp as insensitive and gruesome. Rapp is not that character in the previous books Flynn wrote.

Red war. The worst of the great Mitch Rapp novels. Eminently missable.

I. Hi CC'ingxcsvy Ozt seesubmisszsf🐇🐐🦌🐐🐏🕊🦏🐖🦌〰➿➗➗🕗🕗😁😁🕙🐐🕗🕝😀👥😈🤕👹👿🤤😰😳😳qqqqq

Close out the series. RIP Vince Flynn, enjoyed so many of your books Kyle and the publishers should have more respect for Vince and stop writing/publishing books in Vince’s name. They are a poor shadow of the books and characters that Vince created and we have all enjoyed. Do the decent thing and stop milking his name with these poor knock off books. If you are I fan of Vince don’t waste your money

Red War. Weak ending. Terrible middle. All told, the worst

Awesome!. Great to have Mitch back

Among the best of Mitch Rapp books. Another reviewer wrote that he found Azarov weak here; I think he was at his most compelling and believable. Not that you look to Mitch Rapp for believable story lines! I laughed here and there at comedic comments or episodes that break the tension. That’s pretty rare in a spy thriller, and I like it.

I liked it. I think he does a good job carrying on the Rapp legacy

Undeveloped. It is interesting that no one seems to notice the shallowness of these stories about Mitch Rapp since the passing of Vince Flynn. Whereas Flynn had an honest-to-goodness gift for plot and character development, his successor only knows the barest rudiments of narrative. It’s enough to keep the series alive but lacks cohesion or depth. Just read an earlier Flynn novel and immediately follow with this more recent schlock and you’ll see immediately what the difference is.

Red War. Interesting and hopefully not all true. I have never thought of Russia’s leaders that’s being so cruel and careless about the people.

Barely able to finish. Terrible book. I had hope that Kyle would be able to take over for Vince but he just can’t. Besides the characters names, there is absolutely nothing in this story that would make you think it was the same storyline. The dialogue is terrible to the point I had to keep taking breaks away from this book. Even the action sequences were more of a shoot em up instead of thought out plan. Don’t waste your time on this book.

Thriller. Kyle Mills is doing a great job continuing the Mitch Rapp saga.

Red War. Good story line, I’m a big fan of the series.

Not Flynn. Obviously not written by Flynn

Not worth the time. I loved Vince Flynn, and Mills is just not as talented. The plot is predictable in the worst way, even Rapp is made to be just another cog in the wheel of the story. Whereas with Flynn he was the main protagonist and it wasn’t debatable. I love this series but this is where I stop. Such a shame

Excellent as always. Another great Mitch Rapp thriller!

Fast-paced, scarily relevant. Loved it.. Great read. More great unit integrity, loyalty, and selfless sacrifice. I may have unconsciously been humming the national anthem at one point. Kyle Mills again knocks it out of the park. Let’s hope it isn’t foreshadowing of future events!

My best book !!!!!. Great book! Very fast reading. Great trill ride!!!!!

Great read!. Loved the plot and ties with current events!
