On the 14th November 1940, Hitler’s bombs rain down on Coventry. From the rubble of a bombed-out family home, a young girl is saved…

As the Nazis’ relentless bombs fall during the Blitz of Coventry, six-year-old Rose Sherbourne finds herself orphaned and under the guardianship of a Cornish farmer's daughter, Elenor Cardew.

Elenor knows that the only way to protect spirited Rose is to leave the city and make a new life for themselves away from harm. But soon Elenor discovers that Hitler’s firestorm is not the only thing she must fear when she learns a devastating secret about Rose…

With Rose’s life in imminent danger, Elenor turns to the only person she can trust to keep the deadly secret, heroic Canadian pilot, Jackson St John. And amidst the destruction of war, an unlikely romance blossoms as they find a way to protect the child they have both grown to love…and each other.

The secret oro han. I like very much this book Very interesting Good filig reas it

Could have been better. I enjoyed the beginning of the book better than the end. Characters introduced in the second half of the book seemed flat, and I kept finding more and more run on sentences as the book progressed, which was distracting. The historical detail was terrific though. A good editor could have brought this novel up to a higher level.

Nice. Nice

Hidden Gem. It was a good read !

nice. nice

The Secret Orphan. The Secret Orphan was a most enjoyable story! I couldn’t put it down.

The Secret Orphan. Elenor sure had a challenging life for one so young. Rose was her reward.

Started well- finished fast. The story became unbelievable towards the end- almost like another author picked it up in the middle and finished it. Could have been a good book. Probably too many things happening and hard to wrap it up

A good quick read.. A good quick read that kept me engrossed until the annoying Titsch came onto the scene. Her’s was a personality that I can’t believe any farm owner would have held onto. Her character definitely made the villain and outcome obvious. Which ruined the ending for me, though I trudged through just in case I was wrong.

The Secret Orphan. I read into the wee hours of the morning several times with this book. A good history lesson of what happened in England during WW2.

The secret orphan. Only 3 stars…was actually a very good book until towards the end…it seemed that the writer just wanted to complete the book but not bring the story to a logical ending… ending was rushed and lacking….

Great title. A nail biting end, excellent characters & rich historical setting .

The Secret Orphan. What a fantastic story, never expected so many twists and turns, kept me reading till the battery went dead, could not wait to get back to the story. Hope for more of this authors book
