Butterface review. I love the wittiness, the humor and the romantic wild love that accompanied this amazing book. It’s so relatable for many women struggling to love themselves for who they are and to have unconditional love from someone who will love them for all their flaws. Such a great read ❤️ and super empowering!

Entertaining but fairly one-note. The writing and characters were decent and the story was acceptable but it was annoying that everything revolved around the main character’s “ugliness” and we are constantly reminded how “ugly” she is.

3.5 stars. Gina has been the subject of a lot of hateful “pranks” because of her looks. She doesn’t believe that any man can see the person she really is. Ford finds Gina very intriguing, but he is a cop and she is related to criminals. Will they be able to find common ground, get past her insecurities and his lies and worries about his job? I felt this book dragged on a little to much, I had a hard time getting through certain parts. So It was just an okay read for me.

Fabulous! Truly relatable swoon worthy characters.. I fell in love with Gina and Ford in the first chapter. Not because they are perfect, but because they are realistically imperfect. Just the right blend of emotions to keep you hooked, this book has it all. Don’t put it on your want to read list, read it. You’ll be glad you did.

Fabulous!!. Captivated from the very first page. I know my review isn't going to do this book justice because it's truly beyond words. Gina Luca is a wedding planner, who meets Ford Hartigan detective at a wedding that is quickly spiraling out of control. Ford is there because it's one of his fellow officers getting married. The couple has a kiss cam and when the camera focuses on the two of them neither wants to kiss, until they do and Ford gives Gina his all. I melted into a puddle. Gina has spent her life being bullied, the brunt of every joke possible because of her face. We get the idea in general but not a graphic image of her shortcoming. Gina does however have a great shape, two overly protective brothers whose occupations border on somewhat criminal, familial loose ties to the mob and an old Victorian house she inherited from her Grandpa who went missing twenty years ago under much speculation as to his fate. Again the allusion to mob ties. Ford is working a task force with two jack hat detectives who make it a point to get under this skin. They've been working on a case that involves yet another family who bring heroin into their small town. The Luca brothers may or may not be involved at least peripherally. Gina has done her best to distance herself from any family business and any remnant died off with the older generation. When something happens at Gina's home, Ford's boss decides it a great opportunity for him to spend some time with Gina gathering intel. All Ford can think about is Gina and her black lace panties. So he's camped out on her couch. Helps her with some handyman work and the two slowly warm up to each other. Gina is fully aware what she looks like. Her brothers are spitting nails she's involved with a cop, his family is relentless because he's a rule follower and heaven help anyone who breaks a rule. He comes from a long line of firefighters, he is the first to step out and become a cop. These two both have issues and as they slowly seem to work through them, there's another twist to the story and while it goes against Ford's rules, he definitely enjoys breaking the no hitting the sheets rule with Gina. These two make enough steam to power a small city. Then once again, more twists and curves that turn the whole works upside down. The last straw for Gina pinched my heart in the worst way. Did Ford get what he was looking for, he got that and then some; along with his come to jesus moment. What a rollercoaster ride of emotions, it's funny, intense, moments when you want to take a swing at someone, mumbling to yourself. Best of all are Gina and Ford two characters that I loved that will stay with me for a while. I love Gina's strength and her weak moments, Ford I loved for feelings for Gina and his crazy family. Ford is dedicated, he commits. I love Avery Flynn, her books are always stellar. She totally slayed me with this one. I still thought about it today. This book has everything you could ever want, two characters you fall in love with, a great story, humor, love, plenty of steam and oh those emotions... Start reading now. New favorite book!!. The best book I've read in a long while! Most definitely will be reading the next two in the series. I felt like I was watching a movie and couldn't stop!!

I love this book.. This was one the best books I’ve ever read. Love it

Romantic and Hysterical. A romantic, hysterical and steamy read. Ford, you by the books detective and Gina the wedding planner. The way they were thrown together started the whole story in a great way. Gina and Ford have a bumpy ride in their relationship but watching each character develop was great. Gina is a strong, smart, independent. She also has a side that is fearful of a relationship because of her past. Ford feels like he is the black sheep of the family and is a by the rules man. When he meets Gina there is something about her that makes him break all the rules. This is a great story that makes you laugh and swoon but also holds a powerful lesson of bullying. Gina is a strong women but there were moments when she was remembering her past that made me sad. It is a lesson of how someone can love themselves not matter what anyone else thinks of them. Another great read with awesome characters.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sexy, sweet, sometimes heartbreaking story of a handsome cop falling for the ugly duckling daughter of a renowned crime family he’s assigned to get info on. Enjoyed the story, loved the audiobook narrators take on the characters & look forward to reading more from this first time for me author.

Great start to a new series. Another fun series by Avery Flynn. The Hartigan family was introduced in The Charmer. They are a big, loud Irish Catholic family of mostly firefighters. Ford’s anal retentive rule following personality made him turn his back on the family firefighting business and become a police officer. He meets Gina Luca at a cop wedding, where she is the wedding planner and they are forced to kiss on the. Kiss-cam. Gina is what mean folks would call a Butterface, she has a great body, But her face! She was treated horribly by almost everyone because she isn’t beautiful , so that colors how she views the world. Ford is assigned to stay at her house after a body is found in the attic, so he can get intel on her mob connected brothers. Ford’s initial attraction he feels for her becomes more as they spend time together. Ford’s duplicity and Gina’s insecurity will of course stand in their path to an HEA. Great book and I cannot wait until the next book in the series.

A Great Romantic Comedy!!. Gina Luca is not what the world would consider a beautiful or even pretty heroine. But, she is a strong, independent woman who know her weaknesses and doesn't let that stop her from enjoying her life. Ford is the hot cop who sees past Gina's flaws to the girl she truly is. This story is fun, sexy and will open your eyes to just how much pressure we put on ourselves to be beautiful and live up to others expectations. Loved it!!

Does anyone do this?. Didn’t make it past the sample chapters. The whole concept was demeaning and unrealistic. I would feel sad if I thought people really thought this way about themselves, or talked about others like this. Very disturbing.

I couldn’t stop reading!. For someone who never reads books, I finished this book in 24 hours. So much detail. It was amazing and I didn’t want it to end!

Butterface. It was an okay story.

Don’t Judge a Book By It’s Cover. Gina has always known she’s not a great beauty. If the mirror didn’t tell her plenty of people have seen fit to make comments about her appearance. So when she meets Ford and he shows interest, it’s too good for her to believe it’s real. But she wants to. Ford is a by the rules kind of guy—which makes him a good cop. When he first sees Gina, something about her makes him take notice. When she takes off after a very awkward situation, he feels badly. He gets another opportunity to get to know her and grabs it. Too bad that it’s because of work and even worse, if Gina finds out how that’s how they really started, he may lose her forever. This was a really funny but also heart hurting story. Gina and Ford are wonderful characters and the cast of supporting characters are hysterical.

I’m left feeling squeamish.. Feeling ugly, being bullied and humiliated, feeling like the odd one out are not funny. This book is painful to read and should come with a warning label.

Perfect Palate Cleanser. Needed a palate cleanser and had downloaded this previously. Absolutely loved the characters. Juuust the right amount of 🌶️. The chemistry between Gina + Ford and never knowing what would happen next kept me captivated!!!

Great story!. Butterface is book one in the new series, The Hartigans and is a fun and sexy story! Ford works for the Police Department and is the outcast of the family as the rest of them are firefighters. With everything to prove, Ford is a guy who plays by the books. Gina is a successful wedding planner but yet thinks that she may never walk down the aisle herself. She has been the victim of cruelty about her looks her entire life and now Gina believes it all. But when a Kiss Cam has Gina and Ford front and center, their chemistry sets off a chain reaction of events that just can’t be ignored. Until secrets threaten every part of their relationship. Butterface was a fun and sexy book that was full of emotions. I love how Ford really saw Gina for who she was and how Gina, like many of us women, was full of doubt about herself. This story was full of so many wonderful moments, I truly enjoyed it!

Reality. It’s raw reality… bare truth, flashbacks of hurtful past, and a present that makes one put to rest the past in order to let go and move on with acceptance then contentment.

A book you want to keep coming back to!. Great plot and characters. I wasn’t sure how comfortable I was with the repeated references to how un-pretty the heroine was, but that aside I enjoyed every page and it made for a different take on the usual ‘steamy romance’. Definitely recommend.

Easy read. This book was a simple romantic comedy. Good characters and an alright plot. Quite a few spelling and grammatical errors which disrupted the flow. The author tends to overuse words in her sentences, making them lengthy and losing their impact.

Great start to a new series. Butterface is the first book in the new series The Hartigans and if this book is anything to go by Avery Flynn will have another hit series on her hands. Ford Hartigan is a hot policeman who struggles with a few insecurities and he lives his life by rules are not meant to be broken so when he meets Gina Luca he struggles with her family history which is all about living on the wrong side of the law. Will Ford and Gina let their insecurities and families push them together or pull them apart ....... Butterface is a laugh out loud romantic comedy with adorable characters, this author has a nack of giving you stories you can connect and embrace with and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next with the Hartigan family, great start to a new series.

Amazing read.. Did no I could cry reading a book but this ending was soo heart touching all I could do was let tears out.
