Along waters of sunshine and shadows. If you have read Letters across open seas you will have already had a glimpse into Noah and Anna’s story although this book can be read as a stand-alone book if you haven’t, as it’s easy to pick up on the story. Noah and Anna finally meet after years of writing to each other throughout the war, they have made been each others sanctuary through the hard times and are ready to move onto the next chapter of their lives, but Anna’s mother is doing her best to make sure they are split apart she has lost her son to the war and can’t stand that Noah has made it through. She makes it clear to Anna that if she chooses to marry Noah she will have nothing more to do with her and will make sure all their neighbours know that she disapproves. What she doesn’t reckon on is that the local priest has taken a liking to Noah even though he is not of the same faith as Anna and promises to support them if they decided to Marry. Noah is troubled from his experience of war and doesn’t feel he deserves Anna’s love especially after he tells her that her brother died saving his life and because he was an orphan he doesn’t want Anna to regret her mother turning her back on her. This is quite a different story to what Ava usually writes but I have enjoyed this book. “I received an ebook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. Love after war.. Noah and Anna's story continues when Noah comes to the new city after the war ends for him. Anna has been waiting for him but as much as she loves him her mother causes her much unhappiness as she cannot forgive him for Martins death. There are twists and turns along the way, the role of the church, the mob and what we now know as PTSD all play a part. I enjoyed the book and look forward to more. I received an ARC for an honest review, all views are my own.
