4 Colly Birds and a Cat named Duke. Upon seeing his wounds, she makes him her next patient. Theo doesn’t want help, but she persists. As they spend time together, they become friends and begin to fall in love. Neither believes anything can come from their attraction. His sense of duty to his title and her abject fear of going back into Society stand firmly in the way of a future together. Or do they? It doesn’t seem possible, but this is Christmas. Never Say Duke is the fourth book in the 12 Dukes of Christmas series. Healing and humor make this a warm sweet story. There are few very nice surprises. The characters are wonderful. Theo is handsome, courageous, honorable, and a little stubborn. Virginia is beautiful inside and out. She is kind and caring, if uncertain and a little fearful. They are both patient and understanding with each other. Swinton, the butler, and Duke, the cat, are the perfect pair to look after our hero and heroine. I loved this story and will try to wait patiently for the next book in this series. I recommend this book and the series to anyone who enjoys a happy story.

Loved the story. This is a well written love story about a young woman who does meet her parents expectations in the marriage mart and is placed in an asylum and forgotten. After three years she escapes to the village of Christmas where she encounters Theo, a young Viscount, who has been badly injured in the war in France. The story tells of her helping in his recovery and their falling in love. There is a lot that happens before they have their HEA and the story is sad at times especially when she feels as if she is disposable and unworthy. I would highly recommend this book as a great read and is appropriate for any age group. Duke, the cat, plays an important and comical role throughout the entire book.

Funny and heart warming. A very fun read. You fall in love with the characters. The wounded war hero and the awkward healer. Great fun.

Breathless romance. I loved this book. I think this once has been my favorite so far in the 12 Dukes for Christmas series. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Never Say Duke. I love the the town of Christmas is constantly growing and changing. What a sweet story of falling in love with someone who knows just what is needed!

Can they heal each other. Virginia was ousted from society due to her anxiety issues and now lives in Cressmouth (Christmas town). She collects strays and her latest stray is a viscount. Theodore “Theo” is a viscount wounded in the war. But his plan is to marry and return to society. Can they heal each other’s wounds?

Wonderful!. The characters are well defined, the story phenomenal and the writing! What can I say but we’ll done!

LOL fun. This book made me laugh and cry. The cat is so funny.

Never Say Duke. Ignore the distinctly not Regency cover with the obviously photoshopped cat. This was a nice read full of fun and feeling about physical rehabilitation and accommodating social anxiety. Duke, cat, and Swinton, butler, are the best. It did, however, get a little repetitive toward the end, and Theodore’s public spectacle of a grand gesture was weird given Virginia’s persistent social anxiety. There also appears to be some continuity issues, where Theodore acts like Virginia’s consistent desire over the years not to marry is new information despite straight up saying she didn’t want to marry when he asked if she was single. Also, Virginia said she and her sisters weren’t fond of each other, making their reunion and sudden support feel convenient and opportunistic, especially with the absence of support before the asylum, as the author needlessly tries to tie everything up in a bow at the end.

Never Say Duke. Erica Ridley. This is the fourth book in this 12 book series by Erica Ridley Ms Ridley talks story telling to a whole new level with this latest book, fantastic story, filled with humour, romance and never say Duke 😊 Stand alone but worth the buy of all in series so far. The stories are set in a town called Christmas so naturally book 5 will not be released till October I could not put it down, a real page turner and for myself the best in the series. Yes Virginia there is love for you ❤️

Never say Duke, really never say it.. I think this is my favourite story so far. Virginia and Theodore are both likeable and the cat is a real character. This story is a slow burn, the details are added bit by bit, much like adding tidbits to your ice cream. This is a bitter sweet story. My heart ached for Virginia, whom I’d considered an eccentric in the other books. She gave to others, both animal and human, but felt unworthy herself. Her back story was heartbreaking. “She had longed her entire life to be accepted for who she was, not rejected for who she was not.” She had to save herself and fend for herself, she displayed amazing personal strength, but she never got over her feelings of inadequacy. Virginia takes on the care and rehabilitation of Theodore, a wounded stray. The outcome was not what either of them expected. If you are a cat lover you will fall for Duke. He is intelligent, loyal, quirky and there when needed. He is a cat with attitude.
