Evvie Drake Starts Over. Contrived. Nothing felt started or finished. I liked the dog.

Environmental Drake Starts Over. Sometimes you just want a really good beach read. This book was just that. Nothing too heavy or thought provoking but solid, somewhat predictable but I still really liked it. The beach may have had something to do with it.

No. I couldn’t get halfway through. Every conversation was about the MC being a widow. Even years later. She talked about nothing else with anyone. There was no depth. Nothing else.

Conversational Book. Insightful and honest dialogue with good humor thrown in. I would have liked more action and less talking.

I love Evvie Drake. I loved this book! I loved how it delved into some difficult things, but still remained light-hearted and a great "not too cheesy" chick-lit read. Evvie's husband, a prominent and very well-loved doctor in their small town, dies suddenly in a car accident. Incidentally, when Evvie found out her husband was in the car accident, she was planning to leave him. Car was almost packed and she had finally made the decision. Then when the loss of her husband comes, she is distraught, and her emotions are torn between grief, guilt, and freedom. She had told no one of her plan, so she has been traipsing through life trying to grieve the past year all alone. One day, her best friend Andy asks her if she would be interested in renting out a portion of her house that is it's own apartment to an old friend of his going through a tough time. Dean Tenney, a former (as of recent) famous Yankees pitcher, has become the laughing stock of the MLB and he needs to get away fast and for an extended amount of time. Evvie agrees and the two meet and hit it off quickly with their witty personalities and hidden struggles. Where will this newfound friendship take each of them? The importance of loving yourself and mental health is a prominent piece of information in this read and I really appreciated that.

So good I read it again. This book was great. The characters, the story, the location - all so good. I loved it so much that I read it again.

Interesting Story - Leave Out Politics. Interesting, good story. I would love to read a book without the author pressing their political views on me. I also prefer less coarse language.

Great story, easy to relate to. I really enjoyed the characters being people that I can relate to. It shows struggles of marriage fears, loss, mistakes, forgiveness. All of the things I can relate to. This was well written and though not intended to be a "self help" book it helped me.

Hmmmm. Just finished and lots of words in this book, but flimsy as hell plot. And nothing really figured out by end. 75% of the book main character is a head case, and all of a sudden, she is better. Why? Who knows. Just another poorly written guy falls for girl for no clear reason book. Girl falls for guy. Everybody happy. Both going no where. Oh, just remembered I bought this book cause that chick on the morning show said it was good and it’s her book pick. Jenna Bush. That’s her name? Well, I always thought she was a sweet, over privileged, very white, very vapid woman, and this book matches her personality to a T. Nothing philosophical. Nothing to discover about you or the human condition in this book. Puppies. That what it is like. Puppies.

Real. Easy to get lost in the story

Sublime.. This book was so good. I loved it. The repartee between the characters, was very real...and all the life situations of each person seemed very plausible. Sometimes that is not the case when trying to create drama. It’s been a long time since I have read a book that moved me like this one.

Pitch perfect (I am so sorry I could not resist). The best romance-type novel I’ve read since Jennifer Crusie’s “Bet Me” and one I expect I will revisit just as often. A town I want to live in and characters I want to have as my own texting buddies. A precise rendering of how the world feels when you’re starting something new and getting over something old. I have followed Linda’s writing for years so I knew I would like this book but I am so happy to have loved it so fully.
