Grey: The Encounter by Allison White Book Summary

My goal was clear—to achieve success in every aspect of my life. It seemed easy enough for a while…until I woke up with a stranger staring at me from my roommate’s bed.

Grey. The distraction I didn’t count on. The wrench that came crashing into my agenda. He’s one tall, lean, tattooed bad boy with the natural talent to annoy me. I was determined to ignore him, but there’s something about him that lures me in.

The more I fight it, the stronger it becomes—the need to be close to him.

But I’ve worked too hard to be where I am today, and I won’t let it all be ruined by a guy who is more trouble than not.

There’s just one problem. Grey has his dark eyes set on someone…

…and that someone is me.

Still waiting. Dearest Apple, please find some way to get the rest of this series like Book 2 Grey The Infatuation. This was a great start but would love to finish reading on same format and not have to purchase real books. The author definitely has written these characters well. Thanks!

Disappointed. The relationship is very unhealthy. Both are in need of mental help. The entire book was a series of repeated abusive situations. Ended with a cliff hanger.

What.... I spent all day, literally 7:30am to 7:30 PM reading this book and to end like that with no second book... I’m so upset. I wan invested and now I have no closure.. talk about frustrating. I would have given 5 stars if I had closure... I feel like I just wasted my whole day. :(

Ending?. This book is really frustrating, I wanted to smack the characters and knock some sense into them. I kept reading to find out what would happen in the end. The ending is the worst, what happens next?

LOVED IT but.... I absolutely loved this book...but I’m bummed with the way it ended...seems like their story isn’t complete...? Hopefully there will be a second book coming out soon!!

Decent read for “After” fans. Overall this was a decent read - especially for being a free download. Fans of the “After” series should give this a chance…although I feel like the writing was much better in those books and the way the characters spoke in this book was a bit “childish” at times, for lack of a better descriptor. It also became very repetitive towards the end, but still held my interest. You can definitely see where this author used other popular story lines for inspiration but there was enough variation to keep this one interesting.

Read!. I honestly do not understand the negative reviews! This series was my absolute favorite and I read A LOT. I finished all 6 books in a week. There is so much passion in these characters. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love. Do yourself a favor and read them! If you liked the After series, then you’ll LOVE this series

Grey The Encounter. Loved the book, but very disappointed in the ending. Thought there would be a sequel??

Grey the encounter. Terrible ending!

No. This book isn’t poorly written, but the characters are all difficult to like. I could barely tolerate Olivia by the end of the book. She is in a disturbing toxic relationship and there is nothing romantic about it.

Good, but not good.. Well written, but I was turned off by the constant back and forth relationship and the same fights happening throughout the entire book. I don’t like the abrupt ending of the first book and how none of the other books are available like... anywhere. I also don’t know what the point of their story is? Because he’s bipolar and their relationship is always a back and forth thing, but what are they getting at? They really don’t have a purpose...

Horrible ending. I enjoyed the concept of the book and I loved reading through it but then when it went towards the end. My brain got so jumbled. Like what kind of ending is of a girl walking to the dance floor with a guy?!!!

Disappointed. I am so disappointed by this book. I can’t even explain the frustration I feel after reading this. I’ll just simply say... I can’t, it’s the worst...

Well written, terrible ending.. Overall a good book, but a terrible ending! I’m assuming there’s a part two coming, but absolutely no info about when/where!

Good, but.... Grey: The Encounter, was sort of a good book. It reminded me too much of After on Wattpad written by Anna Todd, the two characters were constantly fighting about the same thing over and over again, Grey being with Diane all the time (Like Harry is with Molly in After), and Olivia was a lot like Tessa’s character. The part I disliked the most was the ending. In my opinion, that was a terrible way to end a book unless there was a second book.

Terrible ending. The book itself was very confusing. Also very similar to After... The ending was terrible, I hope there is going to be a sequel otherwise i feel like the author just got tired of writing.

Senseless. Waste of time, it’s too long to no where

What the F. Who leaves a almost 1,000 page book off with a cliffhanger like that? It’s wasn’t even really that good anyway. Rest assured I’ll never read one of her books again.

I love this book. Im not sure why this story has so many bad reviews. I feel that this is a better series than the After series just because I’m not annoyed with the characters like I was in the After series. This is kinda the same story only better twists and turns in my opinion. I also don’t really care that it left at a cliff hangar because I will be buying the second book.

After and Beautiful Disaster. I love to read just about anything so no negative review here, but this is like a combination of After and Beautiful Disaster.

Not worth reading…... I finished the book because I kept hoping it would develop but I was let down. The book is the same scenario back and forth with no true character development. Also so much is the same as other novels released before it, it’s lacks originality Glad it was free, will not be buying the rest of the series

Anxiety just from reading it. I couldn’t finish it. Too much back and forth. The characters are both immature. After re-reading other reviews I quit reading cause there was no way I was going to read sequels with the same character flaws.

Mediocre. So-so. Pretty much a waste of my time. Anemic ending.

Too much drama. I felt like smacking both Olivia and Grey upside the head! How many times do you need to get your heart ripped out of your chest before you wise up, Olivia??? Grey is bad news! How many times do you need to mess up before you wake up, Grey??? Olivia is too naive for you! How these two can make it through college without going going to jail, crazy, or both is beyond me. Pick another book to read. One that won’t make you poke your own eyes out in frustration.

Lost potential... This book had so many opportunities that were missed. I don’t normally write reviews but I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. SO. The two main characters. For two people interested in psychology, they both lacked self awareness or the ability to understand each other. They just went round and round without any real progress, which I understand is supposed to portray the frustration the main character faces in a toxic relationship with someone that has a mental disorder, BUT, he has a mental disorder and they both study PSYCHOLOGY! The author could have weaved information about disorders into the writing to really round the book out and make it so much more than just a book about hormonal people bickering. They partnered up on a psychology project to analyze each other and I was SO hopeful that the author would have included Grey’s analysis on her and that would have knocked sense into her and given her this huge epiphany about her life and their relationship - I.e - he really did pay attention to her and knew why she behaved the way she did. Another missed point, the characters are all mainly adults(18-22) but the way they were written made it seem like I was reading about 16/17 year olds in high school that couldn’t conjure a rational thought. Twilight had more development and depth than this adult book did. AND, the main character references watching all the teen movies and horror movies about college multiple times. She was almost raped TWICE and she STILL wasn’t wary of accepting open drinks from men or maintaining a certain level of caution around them. I just wish the author had put more thought into the mental and psychological aspects of the characters to give them more depth. I stuck through all 800 pages but if you start reading it, you get the gist of the book about 400 pages in.

Grey the Encounter. Interesting plot but no ending. Way too long of a book with no resolution!

Love the name grey. Please tell me there’s going to be another one! I need to know what happens! Grey is so frustrating! But sometimes I wanted to smack Olivia upside the head as well! Ugh

Grey. Awful self obsessed boring boring tedious characters. Eventually after 980 pages it ends in the middle of nowhere. A supposed cliffhanger - by this time I felt like jumping off the cliff myself. Please author, if you want anyone to spend their precious time on getting this far, you should definitely not make enemies out of the exhausted readers by insulting us in this way. I presume you are of the mistaken opinion that we would actually buy the ending. Seriously? No! You needed to edit this down by at least 50% and your characters by the end of what you have deigned Ti share have all morphed into the same language patterns thus making the story such as it is unintelligible. Potential ReadersDo not waste your time reading this unedited dirge

It’s good. For someone who doesn’t read a lot, I couldn’t put this book down. Though at times i wanted to sort out the main character 😔 but I enjoyed the book and hope there will be a part two.

Typos. Typo on second page can’t continue reading

Painful!!. So slow and boring! no depth to anything whether it be the characters or the story! I’m guessing it was meant to be a cliff hanger but it was more like the author got bored of the story too and just stopped writing, don’t waste you time

Truly awful. I don’t usually leave reviews, I either enjoyed a book or I didn’t but it feel that’s personal choice. However, I honestly found this book to be truly awful. I really can’t believe it was published. There is a total misrepresentation of mental health conditions, especially bi-polar disorder. You made him into some kind of freak show instead of exploring behaviors and how this would effect him. There was no empathy shown towards him and the bit about medication was truly awful. You almost made him a villain because of the condition. In a time where mental health conditions are being sensitively explored and positively explored you stomped all over that. The characters and plot were really underdeveloped. There’s tension between grey and mason but no explanation of why. Who is Rose?? What’s her significance to those two characters?? It’s was an overly drawn out book of nothingness. I wondered if it was because there was a 2nd book that would need to be paid for but can’t determine that there is.

Great read. 👌🏽

Confusing Ending. I really got into the book but it just became repetitive towards the end. It was left without addressing main mysteries in the story, for instance who Rose was and what happened between them. Hope the author releases a sequel to explain those parts and to elaborate more on the new relationships.

Grey and Liv. This book has had me captivated! I have been unable to put it down ! The story is gripping and heart wrenching all at the same time !

Grey. I did love the book but the way it ended. I hope there’s more to this story. Worst ending I’ve read in a long time

Frey. Terrible to read! Could have been such an interesting story line with mental illness as a focus but couldnt finis it soon enough

Painful!. That was so painful to get through! I’ve never wanted to stop reading a book more in my life. The only reason I did finish it was because I can’t stand leaving a book unfinished. I’m glad it was free; if I’d paid money for it I would have been more disappointed than I am.

Very interesting!. This book was a very interesting read, the different turns in the story kept it intriguing. I would love to see grey’s point of view and definitely a second book! Well done on a great book, I loved it!

Meh. I genuinely thought this would be a good read but as the story went on the worse it got , couldn’t wait to finish, but what really annoyed me was not describing it was a series which hasn’t been finish. Like really. Don’t recommend

Not amazing. The storyline was solid, however the events in the book were repetitive eg the exessive fighting/arguing!- could definitely have been written/edited better.

blehh. Entirely disappointing. This novel shadows mental illness in such a negative light. And promotes domestic abuse in relationships. I can’t not finish a book and to be left on such a(n obvious) cliffhanger was so annoying. It was never mentioned that this was an incomplete series.

Grey : The Encounter. I quite enjoyed this book, despite more than a handful of moments where I just wanted her to say enough is enough and walk away. Despite so much angst, I found myself really enjoying this book and looking for the next in the series. Heads up, this book ends on a cliffhanger and while I'm anxious to see how the story progresses, The remaining five books in the series do not seem to be available on iBooks. Boo! Let's get the rest of this series on iBooks please!

😱😱. This book is so freakin depressing and sad and I freakin love it!!!
