Dax by Sawyer Bennett Book Summary

The Arizona Vengeance is killing it on the ice. But one player can’t seem to keep his eye on the puck because it’s focused on the woman he just married to save her life.

Hockey is my passion. And if you want to succeed in this sport, you have to bust your ass 24/7. I’ve never had a hard time focusing on my career, but when my past comes knocking, no amount of training can prepare me for what lies on the other side of the door.

Regan Miles was always like a sister to me. When a shared tragedy brings us face to face after several years, I’m shocked to see just how much she’s changed. Gone is the shy, awkward little girl that always used to chase me and her brother around. Instead, I’m faced with a gorgeously hot woman who makes it damn hard to focus on anything but her.

What’s even more shocking is that I never once hesitated when I told her we were getting married. Ordered her actually.

More surprising yet is that she didn’t hesitate in accepting my proposal. Because she’s in trouble and she really didn’t have any choice.

So it’s settled. We’re getting hitched and she’s moving to Arizona with me.  All platonic, of course.

The catch?
I never knew I’d fall so hard for my best friend’s little sister.

Dax. 👍🏻

Sweet and Sexy!. Dax and Regan are childhood friends who marry in order to get a life saving drug. All bets are off as they navigate their way thru a undeniable attraction. Sweet and sexy with a tug on your heartstrings, these incredible characters and their journey is one terrific story!

Love this hockey romance!. I have loved Ms. Sawyer's Cold Fury series and now the Vengeance series is my new guilty pleasure! Dax and Regan's story is a friends to lovers story that gave me all of the feels. There is something about these big, burly men falling for these women that are so perfect for them. Dax has known Regan all of his life, but when his best friend dies and Regan is left in a situation, Dax steps up. I loved watching these two test the boundaries of their friendship and their marriage and eventually falling head over heals for each other. Another great read in this series!

Amazing!. 4.5 Stars Dax by Sawyer Bennett is the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series. Even though it can be read as a stand-alone, I do recommend reading the other books as well. I swear each book continues to get better and better and this installment seriously knocks it out of the park! Dax was a fantastic read that was full of emotions. I did shed a tear or two and this story pulled on my heartstrings. But like with all of Ms. Bennett’s stories, it really was so much more than just another romance novel. I’m going to keep this short and sweet-Dax is a professional hockey player for Arizona Vengeance and it is his entire life. When an unexpected tragedy strikes and he loses his best friend Lance, he is grieving hard. To top it off Lance had a younger sister Regan and she is drowning in sadness. Dax has never looked at her in any other way other than his best friends little sister. But when deeper feelings start to happen he has no idea what to do… I loved this book so much! I adored the characters and LOVED the storyline. There were some rough topics addressed and Ms. Bennett handled them with class. Dax and Regan had explosive chemistry and the tension between the two was as thick as anything. I highly recommend reading this book!

I loved it!. This one surprised me, I wasn’t sure going in what to think. But I loved it! Such a cute couple, and I always love how all the individual stories tie together throughout the series. Get this one today!!

Great read. I loved this book/listen and this story hit home. Regan Miles and Dax Monahan have been friends for Regans life and then when life comes in the middle of everything Dax decides to “take care “ of Regan. This was a great couple and I could not stop reading/listening until I finished the book. This was the first book in this series that I read/listened to so know I have to go back and read other books from this series.

Oh Dax, the alpha male with a heart of gold.. First of all let me say that I read this story and after I was done, I had to read it again. It touched my soul and I was touched by Dax's compassion. Dax and Regan know each other all their lives, but when tragedy strikes and certain things come to light, Dax becomes the man Regan needs to not only heal her heart and soul but also her body. This story is heartfelt from beginning to end, you can truly feel how much Dax and Regan cared for each other as friends first and lovers later on. While Dax is an alpha through and through he's not overbearing towards Regan, he just wants what's best for her wellbeing and to me that was endearing. I adored the banter between Dax and his teammates, you can tell they're a close knit family and who watch over each other no matter the situation. Dax and Regan's sexual chemistry...whoa baby...H O T!!!! Although the theme of falling in love with the best sister is pretty popular these days, Sawyer put a spin to this story that separated it from other ones carrying this same subject matter. I really appreciate it when an author gives their story that extra something that makes the reader fall in love with it and hold it close to their heart. I highly recommend this new installment of this terrific series, and for your complete enjoyment, pick up the rest of the hockey hunks from the Arizona Vengeance.

Dax is Soooo Husband Material!!. Readers familiar with Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance, who have been with the the players and the author since Bishop was released know quite a bit about Bennett’s newest leading man, Dax Monahan. In fact, because Dax and Regan’s story occurs pretty much concurrently with Legend and Pepper’s book, some of the groundwork has already been laid when it comes to how Dax finds himself a married man and what his future could potentially look like if he has anything to say about it. Despite Dax’s player status, once he committed himself to helping Regan and then started to understand that she was no longer a little girl or Vance’s younger sister, but a beautiful woman who has had more heartache than a woman her age should have to deal with, so if he can make things easier on her, support her in the ways that she needs, he can honor Regan’s brother while perhaps realizing he is, in fact, husband material. Regan’s a fighter; she’s had to be since her teens when she lost both of her parents, but now she’s truly fighting for her life, and while she’s used to doing things on her own and feeling the loneliness that comes along with not being surrounded by family who love her, but that’s no longer the case, and while Dax may be a bit too alpha and domineering at times, it’s clear that she’ll never have to worry with him by her side. The progression of Dax and Regan’s relationship - from family friends to husband and wife to lovers to something both exhilarating and confusing - at times, seems seamless, even though the marriage is supposed to be fake because it’s clear that deep feelings exist between these two; they just need the courage to see where their new feelings will take them. Dax and Regan’s book not only focuses on witnessing these two acclimate to their new normal, to their new feelings for each other, to their way of coping with the changes as Dax works to understand what he wants and needs as a man and as a husband, but readers also gain a deeper understanding of just how much Tacker continues to struggle with grief and guilt and what hitting rock bottom means for the captain of the Vengeance. I appreciate the fact that Sawyer Bennett didn’t add anymore unnecessary drama to what is already an overwhelming situation for both Regan and Dax as well as the Arizona Vengeance, and while I was frustrated and disheartened at times, I knew that even though everything didn’t follow a linear path and there were far reaching obstacles, Dax and Regan knew that the struggle was worth it if it meant that they could be the couple they were meant to be. Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose were fantastic narrators; they voiced Dax and Regan’s perspectives with passion, conveying the emotions of the hero and heroine and providing a voice to everything the characters were thinking throughout the course of the story. 4 Poison Apples

Loved this book!. The story of Dax and Regan is one of long friendship, love, and sorrow. You will want to cry with them, be glad for the, and sometimes be frustrated with them. What you won’t be is bored.

Sweet, Sexy and Full of Heart!. I have so many words to use to describe this latest delve into the world of the Arizona Vengeance Hockey team. Once again Sawyer has brought us characters that we can easily fall in love with and who we rally behind. Dax and Regan’s story is Sexy, Steamy, Sweet, Emotional and chock full of Heart!! I loved it! And I adore them! Dax is a true hero! I know she is his best friend’s little sister, but what he does for Regan is such an incredible thing and all sorts of heroic in my book!! I love friends to lovers and marriage of convenience stories so I was so excited that this would be both. I enjoyed watching these two amazing characters fall for each other in a deep and all consuming love kind of way, but at the same time lifting each other up to the best version of themselves!!

Dax and Regan. Regan Miles has suffered great loss in her short life. At 14, she lost both parents in a tragic car accident, then her brother was recently killed in a random mugging. She was also diagnosed with PNH, a life threatening disease that affects the red blood cells in your body. The treatment Regan requires is extremely costly, even with insurance. Her brother, Lance, went into debt paying for her treatments and education. After his death, she no longer had insurance. She was desperate... Dax Monahan lived and breathed hockey and the lifestyle it afforded him. His hockey team, The Arizona Vengeance, is on track to win the Stanley Cup. Even though all his friends have found their “true love”, it’s not for him. He enjoys being single too much. When he received word his best friend, Lance, had been killed he rushed to Regan’s side. The Regan he thought of like a sister, was no more. This Regan was GORGEOUS and in trouble. After several attempts to get her to open up, he finds out she has a life threatening disease. So he does what any Alpha man does. He demands she leave California, marry him and move to Arizona. Sawyer Bennett blends real world occurrences with romance effortlessly. This story brought me to tears, made me laugh, had me cheering for Dax and Regan, learning about PNH...all while wondering, aching for Tacker. I LOVE that Regan was able to break through Tacker’s emotional wall and get him to smile. I enjoyed Regan and Willow’s party crashing as well. I liked the simplicity of all that Regan encompassed. She’s real and relatable. Dax’s reaction to her crisis was so gut wrenching, frantic. I wanted him to ask Dominick for a ride on his plane. That way, he’d owe him and maybe have to help him win over Willow! I also loved that Sawyer was able to bring the hot topic of medical treatment and insurance into play without being too political. I can’t wait to dive into Tacker’s story! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Such a great read!. This series just keeps getting better and better and I believe that Dax may be my new favorite by this author. This book falls into a few different romance tropes - hockey romance, friends-to-lovers, and a marriage of convenience. After Regan’s brother is killed in a mugging, his best friend, Dax takes it upon himself to look after Regan. The two enter a marriage of convenience and neither one of them bargained on falling in love with each other. Regan is a breath of fresh air. She is a strong heroine who has survived the loss of her parents and later her brother. She has a health problem that she is bravely battling and she is fierce, determined, and independent. I adored Dax with his protective streak towards Regan, but also with how sweet and caring he is towards her. He is also a great team player and tries to look out for his friends both on and off the ice. He is an all around good, honorable man. Dax’s and Regan’s relationship is relatively low on angst, but there is a palpable chemistry between them. I like how they had the history of growing up together and then seeing their relationship evolve from friends to lovers. One of the things that I like about this author is that each of her books have unique storylines. Yes, this is a hockey sports romance, but she tackles different subject matter with each story and it is evident that she does judicious research. In Dax, she accurately brings to light that there are people out there who are ill and struggle to get access to the life saving treatments that they need. Dax is the 4th book in the Arizona Vengeance series and it can be read as a standalone. There is a bit of a timeline overlap with Legend’s story, but you will not find yourself lost in this story. I really enjoyed getting to see some of the old favorites from the pervious books such as Bishop, Erik, and Legend as well as learn a bit more about Tacker. Overall, I really enjoyed this sports romance in that the story was well written, the characters are likable and well-developed, and the plot moves at a good pace. I received Dax for free and I am really looking forward to this author’s next book.

Great Storyline. Dax is dreamy! Very, very dreamy! I wasn’t sure about him... you know, based on the previous books where we met him. But he redeems himself. Easily. I love his relationship with Regan. These two were wonderful characters! Poor Regan though! First her parents die when she’s 14, then she gets a medical diagnosis at 20 (I’m guessing), then at 22 her brother dies and she feels all alone. Thank goodness for her close family friend (brother’s BFF), Dax. I don’t want to ruin what happens so I’m going to stop here. I highly recommend this series and this book in particular. It can be read on its own.

Just keeps getting better!. This is the fourth book in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance series and I do believe it’s my new favorite! Every book in this series can be read alone, but is artfully intertwined so characters from previous books interact seamlessly alongside new ones. This marriage of convenience/best friend’s sister story is lead by Dax & Regan and they’re a delightfully sweet & sexy pairing. Dax’s sister Willow was just introduced & I’m already dying to read her story as well as the long awaited Tacker’s. Don’t miss this series!

This series just keeps getting better and better!. This series just keeps getting better and better! Leaving off at the end of the last book, Dax found out his best friend was dead due to a mugging, and rushed to meet up with Regan, said dead best friend’s sister and only living relative. On top of dealing with her brother’s death, due to a health condition, she has left him broke and is now unsure how she will continue treatment. In steps Dax, who after finding this out decides the best way to resolve it all is to get married. Of course there is attraction to each other on both sides, and much of the book is the two dealing with those feelings in combination with how Regan’s brother would feel about the two of them had he been alive. The two navigate through misunderstandings and other issues, but the two work together to break through on top. Per usual, I loved the storyline and the flow of the book, but something I also love about Sawyer’s writing is that within these books she touches on the characters of the previous books, letting their stories continue, while also introducing us to characters that will be the subject of future books, giving us familiarity so the readers then can’t wait for those books to be released. She’s a genius, and of course I can’t wait for Tracker’s book after getting to know a surface story for him from the previous books! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Love this Book. I am in love with this series! Sawyer always does such a great job with her storylines. But I’m really impressed with the health issues the heroine has to deal with. Bennett’s writing was flawless! I really can’t wait to see where she takes this series next! The audio is on point. It was very relaxing and easy to listen to!

Unconventional marriage of convenience. This book was very personal for me. I do not have PNH, but I do have a chronic, life threatening disease, so I get how Regan feels. I get that she wants to have a normal life, or as normal as her disease allows. I get that people hover over her and drive her crazy. And I get when she feels like cr@p but doesn't want to worry anyone. I get the fear Dax feels. My husband has the same fear. I get the need to check on Regan constantly and worrying about her when he's not around. My husband calls and texts me constantly when either one of us is traveling. I love seeing Regan accept what God gave her and make the best of it. That is the philosophy I have. I can't change it, so I'm going to accept it and live my life to the fullest. But I also respect that there are days that aren't so good and you need to just take day to wallow. Whether it's about your disease, or something you want to do but can't, or you just don't feel good. We all have those days. I love seeing the strength she has and I hope to see more of her. Now, on to the love story. Although not conventional, it is nevertheless real. It started out as a marriage of convenience, but somewhere along the way it changed. Regan and Dax work well together. His family completely accepts her as is and supports her no matter what. And I love her interactions with Willow. I hope we will have more Willow in the future.

In Sickness and in Health. 3.5 stars Dax is a sexy best friend's little sister/marriage of convenience romance. The story is book 4 in the series and runs along the same timeline as the previous book, Legend, but can be read as a stand alone. For maximum enjoyment though, I definitely recommend them since previous characters appear throughout the series. Dax and Regan had amazing chemistry and I really loved the progression of their friendship to more. They have known each other their whole lives and I think that added a sweetness to their connection that I don't always feel. Yes, there is push and pull between them as the lines get blurred, but I liked that there wasn't any unnecessary drama between them (or if there was, it was resolved quickly). I think what made this a less engaging read for me, was that it felt like this book spent just as much time on Dax and Regan as it did setting up the next books in the series. Don't get me wrong - I can't wait to read Tacker (I just want to hug this man so much!!) and Dominik's (YUM with a capital Y!) stories, but I felt like it took away too much of the spotlight from Dax and Regan. I did love seeing all the previous couples (Erik and Blue!) and characters as well as getting to know Willow, Dax's sister and the likely love interest of team owner Dominik Carlson. An enjoyable read overall and I'm excited to continue on with the series! Audiobook Review Overall 4 stars Performance 4 stars Story 3.5 stars I really enjoyed the narration by Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose. Rose gave an emotional performance as Regan and really captured her vulnerability and pain. Snow's deep voice was perfect for Dax, but I did find it was too gruff for the female characters (which is understandable). There wasn't a ton of variation in his other characters as well, so there were a few times I wasn't sure which character was speaking at first.

What would you do?. The perfect blend of marriage of convenience and falling for the best friends sister. The twist, the best friend, sadly, isn’t around to interfere. This leaves the path wide open to fall for her and fall hard. When your life is at stake you will do anything to survive. Even marry your deceased brother’s best friend. The catch, trying not to fall for him for real. I loved the many elements of this book, I couldn’t put it down. It has everything you need for a great romance read.

Heartwarming. Dax is another book in the Arizona Vengeance Series. Dax, a hockey player, steps up to help his deceased best friend’s sister. After her brother’s death, Regan is left without medical insurance for her chronic disease. In comes Dax, offering to marry her. He is sensitive with a heart of gold. I love the camaraderie of the hockey team, how they are always looking out for each other. Very heartwarming story. Review copy was received for a honest opinion.

A great addition to this series!. I really enjoyed this friends to lovers/best friend’s brother storyline. The beginning of Dax and Reagan’s relationship might not be conventional, yet sparks fly between them from the get go. While navigating through their situation they learn what started innocently turns into something amazing. Aiden Snow and Virginia Rose’s performance in this audiobook elevated this story to another level. Bringing life to the characters. I absolutely love this Arizona Vengeance Series and can’t wait for Tacker’s book. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Heartwarming, emotional story!. I thoroughly enjoyed Dax's story that I couldn't put it down. I loved how this beautiful man came across in this heartwarming but also emotional story. I absolutely loved Regan, she really was a woman that was strong but asked for help when needed and was someone I could see myself being friends with. When Dax proposes something to help her get the treatment she deserves and because he made a promise, both of them don't really know how everything will go. Will they both develop feelings or is it just a means to an end? My heart!! I especially enjoyed the banter with his hockey teammates and I really love love loved how it ended. I think Dax and Regans story is a fantastic addition to the series and they both deserve the best of life!! Really excited for Trackers book.

Love this series!. A bit of a twist on a mix between the brothers best friend and the marriage of convenience tropes, this was a sweet, easy read. I enjoyed both of the main characters and especially loved the insight into some future couples we may get to see! Really enjoying this series and can’t wait for Tacker’s book!

DAX. Thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Reagan . Really enjoying the series .

So good. 5 star Review Dax (Arizona Vengeance #4) by Sawyer Bennett From previous books in this fabulous series, it was fairly obvious that Dax Monahan might well become involved with the sister of his recently deceased friend, Lance. He is surprised to learn that Regan Miles is sick and struggling to keep up with the cost of the treatments. When Dax sees Regan he is shocked how much she has grown up, after all to him she has always been the little sister. Dax is even more shocked when to help her out, he suggests they get married. I loved the dynamic between Dax and Regan he is an alpha and knows what he wants and goes after it. I was absolutely hooked on this book from the first to the last chapter and couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and I loved the banter and humour as well. The emotions that were pulled out as I read this book had me in tears at times. Dax is a knight in shinning armour when he sweeps in to help Regan. Living together, even though it is platonic, emotions and feelings soon become involved. As Dax and Regan move from friends to lovers the journey they are on will open them up to a myriad of possibilities. I cannot wait for Tacker’s story as this series has gone from strength to strength.

All the feels. Another Arizona Vengeance player to fall in love with, this team has plenty of sexy alphas on the outside and soft caring souls on the inside and let’s be honest what more could you want in a man ..... We first met Dax in earlier books but that doesn’t mean you need to have read previous stories to love this one but I’m guessing if this is your first Sawyer Bennett hockey book it won’t be your last. Dax Monahan was always going to be the man that becomes involved with the sister of his recently deceased friend Lance but what he didn’t expect was to find out that Regan Miles is very sick and struggling to find the money for the treatments she desperately needs so he suggests the one thing that will get her on his medical insurance and that’s lets get married..... What follows is a couple who have always had an attraction for each other finding themselves starting to fall in love with each other, the chemistry is sizzling hot and the banter between Dax and Regan flows so naturally. This is one of the best reads in this series and don’t get me wrong I love them all but this story captivated me and I fell big time for this couple and once you add the perfect mix of love, emotion, passion, banter and humour you get a book that gives you all the feels. This series is going from strength to strength and I can’t wait for book 5.

Dax. Dax just recently lost his best friend to an accidental mugging and ever since the funeral, Dax has been worried about Lance's sister Regan. Dax knows that there is something wrong but just can not put his finger on it so he confronts Regan and makes her tell him what is wrong. Regan lets Dax know that she is suffering from a rare blood decease and can not afford the medication now that Lance is gone. In a snap decision, Dax convinces Regan to marry him so that she can get his benefits and her life-saving medication. Regan moves to Arizona with Dax to keep their marriage legit and figures while she is there she might as well try to get Dax to truly notice her the way she has always wanted him to notice her. Sawyer Bennett again brought us another great hockey romance. Dax and Regan's story was emotional, fun and steamy. It was interesting following Dax's struggle with trying to come to terms that he was good enough for Regan and finally letting their love blossom. Dax is the fourth book in the Arizona Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett which can be read as a standalone or as part of the Arizona Vengeance series and is written from the point of view of Dax and Regan. I recommend this novel and give Dax 5 stars.

Loved it. Loved everything about this book

4.25 stars-energetic, dynamic, strong characters. 4.25 stars--DAX is the fourth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult ARIZONA VENGEANCE erotic, hockey romance series focusing on the NHL’s Arizona Vengeance Hockey team. This is twenty-seven year old, left-winger Calvin ‘Dax’ Monahan, and twenty-two year old, nurse Regan Miles’ story line. DAX can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for the history between and about the characters. Some of the events of DAX cross over and run parallel with the events of book three LEGEND. Told from dual first person perspectives (Dax and Regan) DAX follows the best friend’s little sister/marriage of convenience relationship between twenty-seven year old, Arizona Vengeance left-winger Calvin ‘Dax’ Monahan, and twenty-two year old, nurse Regan Miles. Months earlier Regan’s brother and Dax’s best friend Lance Miles was killed in a mugging, leaving Regan alone without family or support. Hoping to help Regan move forward Dax offers to help clean up and clear out but something isn’t right with his best friend’s little sister. Desperate for help, Regan accepts Dax’s offer of marriage knowing the marriage would be in name only. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Dax and Regan, and the potential fallout as a misunderstanding may push Regan out of Dax’s life. Meanwhile, Tacker Hall continues to spiral out of control. At the end of LEGEND Tacker found himself on the verge of losing it all. Suspended and facing legal troubles, Tacker is given an ultimatum by management, an ultimatum Tacker struggles to accept. The relationship between Dax and Regan is a friends to lovers; a marriage of convenience that grows into something more. The attraction is immediate; their mutual grief buried by the possibility of future loss. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Arizona Vengeance: Bishop and Brooke, Erik and Blue, Legend, Tacker, Coach Claude, and team owner Dominik Carlson, as well as Dax’s sisters Willow and Meredith, and their parents Linda and Calvin Monahan. There is something developing between Dominik and Willow. DAX is a story of grief , loss and sorrow; revelations, acceptance, romance and love. The premise is captivating and engaging; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are energetic, strong and dynamic. DAX is a heart breaking and emotional story of one couple’s journey towards a happily ever after –for now.

Dax. Thank you, Sawyer Bennett, for another great story. I love all of your characters and how their stories are tied in throughout this series. I love that you incorporated information about a rare medical condition and it’s very real challenges and the exorbitant price of treatment. Too many people face similar situations.
