A Minute to Midnight by David Baldacci Book Summary

In this #1 New York Times bestselling thriller, FBI Agent Atlee Pine returns to her Georgia hometown to investigate her twin sister's abduction, only to encounter a serial killer.
FBI Agent Atlee Pine's life was never the same after her twin sister Mercy was kidnapped -- and likely killed -- thirty years ago. After a lifetime of torturous uncertainty, Atlee's unresolved anger finally gets the better of her on the job, and she finds she has to deal with the demons of her past if she wants to remain with the FBI.
Atlee and her assistant Carol Blum head back to Atlee's rural hometown in Georgia to see what they can uncover about the traumatic night Mercy was taken and Pine was almost killed. But soon after Atlee begins her investigation, a local woman is found ritualistically murdered, her face covered with a wedding veil -- and the first killing is quickly followed by a second bizarre murder.
Atlee is determined to continue her search for answers, but now she must also set her sights on finding a potential serial killer before another victim is claimed. But in a small town full of secrets -- some of which could answer the questions that have plagued Atlee her entire life -- and digging deeper into the past could be more dangerous than she realizes . . .

Awesome. So good. Could not put it down. Suspense to the bitter end!

One Minute to Midnight. Absolutely loved this book. One of the books I couldnā€™t put down. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Boring! First of his books I couldnā€™t finish!. Boring!!

Minute to Midnight. Felt the plot was a little sketchy with a stretch to fit together at the end.

Solid storyteller!. Lots of twists and turns. Author keeps the story strong throughout. All the dots connected at the end - and conclusion made sense.

No Mercy. Disappointed. Expected the Mercy Mystery to be solved but I guess thatā€™s what will keep the series going. Should have paid attention to other reviews.

Lost his touch. If this is the best he ca do, he should simply retire. So sad to see a good author produce such trivial dialogue and call it a book.

Fabulous! Iā€™m addicted!. Yep. I canā€™t get enough of David B. His writing is fabulous. Itā€™s tight, no holes or gaps in character development and storyline that often lead to disappointment. (I used to be addicted to James Patterson, but now that he lets other authors write alongside, or perhaps instead of, I wonder whether some of the novels actually ever get edited). PS. With this book, make sure you read it in the right order. Thereā€™s a series of four Atlee Pine and I inadvertently read them out of order. They were still fabulous, but it might have even better if Iā€™d have realized I had the wrong order. Enjoy!!

getting better. The second in the Atlee Pine series is getting better. Havenā€™t given up on our heroine yet. Hopefully 3s the charm. Not quite Memory Man yet.

A minute to midnight. Did not want this to end! Now I have to wait for the next book. Please hurry, David! I think Iā€™ve read every book. Exceptional writer I enjoy immensely

Weak dialogue. Far from his best. Took forever to get thru...almost painful to return to and finally finish.

Leaves you wanting answers!!. Ready for the next one

Predictable. Long, drawn out and very predictable, I donā€™t like novels that drag story lines into book after book especially when they are so predictable. Not enjoying this new character.

Okayā€¦.. Not a great story - I was a little bored. Back to book hunting!

A Minute to Midnight. I couldnā€™t stop reading this book! It was even better than the first one, and I loved it, too. The plot was intricate with two story lines to follow, but it was so well written that it wasnā€™t confusing at all. I canā€™t wait for the next book in this series. Soon I hope!

Canā€™t believe it. Iā€™ve read Baldacci for 25 years but Iā€™ve never been more disappointed. Not only is it boring with too many filler chapters, this series lacks the true suspense of his others. Not to mention he is also resorting to weaving in political statements. He may not be retiring but Iā€™m retiring from him.

Great author. I have loved all of Baldacciā€™s books and this one is no different. He is a great author.

Another great Atlee Pine adventire. Really enjoyed this very quick read. On to the next book.

Excellent read. Definitely a page turner.

A Minute to Midnight. What a disappointment. I had been waiting on the next book and was so excited to start reading it. It was so convoluted and unreal that I could barely finish it. No more Atlee Pine books for me.

Great story that keeps you reading!. Just finished the book. I enjoyed the story and all the ā€œtwists and turnsā€. I look forward to the next in the series of Atlee Pine adventures, as she searches for the truth of her missing twin sister.

A Minute to Midnight. So very good! Canā€™t wait to see whatā€™s next for Atlee.

Not worth reading. Thin, overly complicated plot. Not up to Baldacci standards and previous books.

Couldnā€™t stop reading!. LOVED this book! Couldnā€™t put it down. The suspense is perfect.

A Minute to Midnight. Wow. Horrible. Long, disjointed, meandering.

A Minute To Midnight. I loved the story in this book about Atlee Pine and canā€™t wait to read the sequel ā€œRoad to Mercy.

Gasping ending!. I couldnā€™t put this down! I felt like I was watching this play out before my eyes with its twists and turns! Canā€™t wait for the next one!!!!šŸ’›

A minute to midnight. 3 1/2 stars Better and mor believable plot than the first book. Too quick of a wrap up with the author simply spelling it all out. Enjoyable but a lame wrap up. Hal R

Great book. Great book
