Moonlighter by Sarina Bowen Book Summary

Five nights. Two adversaries. One bed in their hotel room…
I’m at the height of my athletic career. Yet my arrogant brother is always trying to recruit me into the family business: a global security company so secretive that I don’t even know its name.
Pass, thanks. I don’t need a summer job.
But the jerk ambushes me with a damsel in distress. That damsel is Alex, the competitive, sassy girl I knew when we were kids. Now she’s a drop-dead gorgeous woman in deep trouble.
So guess who’s on a flight to Hawaii?
It’s going to be a long week in paradise. My job is keeping Alex safe, while her job is torturing me with her tiny bikinis. Or maybe we’re torturing each other. It’s all snark and flirting until the threat against Alex gets serious. And this jock must become her major league protector.
Moonlighter is a stand-alone novel. No cliffhangers, no prior experience necessary. Expect: a growly hero, a lady boss with no time for his attitude, and a war of wills and hormones. Bonus: hunk wearing a baby in a sling.

“Sarina Bowen’s sexiest hero yet!” New York Times bestselling author Elle Kennedy

Full of romance and intrigue!!. I love this book it is absolutely wonderful!! This story honestly has so much going for it because there are so many awesome and crazy things happening, but they are all interconnected and tie together nicely. There is a fantastic story line with lots of romance, intrigue, action and all the other good stuff I look for in a romance!! The characters are amazing! I adore Eric and Alex and love that they knew each other as kids because it makes their re-connection so much more incredible and fun. Of course there is the fact that we get more of the Brooklyn Bruisers since Eric plays for them and we've met him before. We get this new intriguing company his brother Max heads up that Eric "moonlights" for during this book for reasons that make a lot of sense when you read it. We get Alex who we have also met before and of course Nate & Rebecca and other familiar characters. I enjoyed every moment from beginning to end which is something I tend to do while reading a Sarina Bowen book! Can't wait for more from this intriguing and entertaining new series.

Loved it, but some details were inaccurate. I *love* Sarina’s books, and have read so many of them. A couple of details in this book pulled me out of the story enough to feel irritated by their inaccuracy. There are few places on Oahu that are considered ‘rural’… Honolulu is the state capital and is for all intents and purposes, a big city. But more specifically, there are major hospitals here that are in no way small. Kapiolani is a hospital specially for women and children not just for hawaii but for the entire Pacific with a level 3 nicu. If girlfriend was having emergent issues with her pregnancy, no doubt a single search would have put her in the best care the state has to offer. That’s it. Hot book. Loved the rest. Research locations before writing about them.

I loved literally everything about this story!. Y'all, this is Sarina Bowen like you have never seen her before. And it was pretty incredible, in case you were wondering. Take all the magic of her hockey heroes with hearts of gold and add to it some high tech hacker action, and some pulse pounding suspense and you have this fantastic set-up for a new series, and a sizzling, swoony love story to boot. I loved everything here - from the bodyguard/fake relationship/friends-to-lovers-esque premise, to the gripping, exciting, and interesting storyline. I loved Eric as the lovable grump, and I loved Alex as the whip smart businesswoman who knocked him on his rear end, and stole his heart right out from under him. Their banter was on point, and their burn sizzled slowly with these bursts of fire that set my pulse pounding in a decidedly different way. They were sexy as all get out, but they also had so much heart. I loved the unconventional friends-to-lovers thing they had going. They were a complete treat to read. And the ending is one of my favorite things I have read in...I don't even know how long. After a thrilling, sexy, pulse pounding story - Ms. Bowen gave us a different kind of thrill. Over-the-top in a way that sat just right with my heart. A little bit humorous and a whole lot heartfelt - it was just perfection. I loved it so much - loved literally everything about this story - and cannot wait to see what The Company has in store for us next!

Moonlighter is Entertaining. Eric Bauer is in the house! Yes, this is Eric from the Brooklyn Bruisers hockey team featured in a new spin-off series by one of my go to, drop everything authors, Sarina Bowen. In this new series, The Company is the ultra secret, high tech security firm run by the Bayer family - Eric’s brother Max and father Carl to be exact. It is so secretive, that Eric doesn’t even know the exact name of the firm; they only refer to it as “the company.” In this release, hockey is a secondary character. Eric is on hiatus from the team, before the start of the season and finds himself being conned into working for his brother. He is to pose as the new, super jealous boyfriend to CEO and media mogul Alex Engles - who also happens to be a longtime family friend. Eric and Alex have history. And Alex has a secret. It is a well written, highly entertaining work of romantic fiction. I love Sarina’s stories, and her character building. Moonlighter and The Company series will continue to build upon that.

Hot, Hot, Hot. Fun read!!! Eric Bayer makes you weak in the knees!

Honest review 15. Loved the first two books of the series. Wish all of her books were still available on Apple Books.

Very enjoyable. I really enjoyed the story! The building up of the relationship between Alex and Eric was great. I do wish there was more closure in the end or even an epilogue, but overall I really enjoyed the book. I had to keep reading without a break to find out how they were going to end up.

Moonlighter. Love this book, though I have to say I haven’t read one I didn’t love. I’m really happy you’re going to write more in regard to the Company, yah!

Blend of sports romance and romantic suspense. Moonlighter is a good blend of sports romance and romantic suspense. Eric Bayer is a player on the Brooklyn Bruisers and the story introduces his brother Max’s Security firm that is so secretive it is known only as The Company. Alex has quite a lot going on in her life. The Company is tasked with keeping her safe but they have to first find out where the threat is coming from. Her childhood friend Eric is roped into helping his brother’s company and acting as Alex’s fake boyfriend on a trip to Hawaii. “One does not win an argument with a woman, one simply survives it.” I loved listening to this story on audiobook. The narration was great and really kept me invested in the story. -4.5 Stars!-

Loved it!. I am completely head over heels for this new series. Moonlighter was a complete page turner loaded charm that Bowen always brings to her books For anyone that has read the Brooklyn Bruisers series, you’ll be familiar with Eric our MC. I’ve been really excited for his story. I could not get enough of the these two. The forced proximity and circumstances as to why they are together sets up for such fantastic sexual tension and chemistry. There were so many sweet moments with these two. I just loved how Eric was with Alex, he is perfect book boyfriend material. Alex was smart and strong and didn’t fall willingly into the damsel roll. I appreciate strong female MC’s, and I thought she was fantastic. The plot, pacing and overall feel of this book was really great. I always love a little suspense with my romance because it gives the story an edge that I crave. This was a great start to a series I’m really excited to read more of.

A little more. Another well written story which included a who done it, a romance, some hockey and characters from other books. There was a lot going on making it an irresistible read. I found the second half of the book difficult to put down. It lost a star as I felt one of the storylines needed more details. However what I would say is to try and read the books in order although it makes a reasonable stand alone.

I seriously enjoyed this one! My new favourite!. After devouring MOONLIGHTER, I honestly don’t know whether it’s Alex or Eric I have the biggest crush on. Take Alex, she’s an incredibly successful computer programmer and a leader of industry. Her newest innovation has garnered some unwanted attention and with it attempts of sabotage. Although a huge problem in itself, she actually has a more pressing matter at hand, which she needs dealt with swiftly and discreetly. Discreet is the motto of Eric Bayer’s family run security company. It’s so discreet intact, it doesn’t have a name. Although Eric is more than happy with his illustrious hockey career he’s been roped in by father and brother to help out on Alex’s case. There’s history with Alex and Eric. They where thick as thieves in childhood but more recently an awkward brush off is the bone of contention that needs to be picked. Eric’s role of bodyguard has them living and working closely together and it’s not long before their history and familiarity develops into intimacy. Much like Pavlov’s classical conditioning, the mere mention of Eric’s name causes me to salivate. He’s assertive and playful, but it’s his deep rooted caring nature that has me gaga over the man. MOONLIGHTER is a story that keeps on giving. There’s a sizzlingly romance, action filled scenes along with some heartfelt touching moments. I may sound like a broken record when it comes to Sarina but, I seriously enjoyed this one! My new favorite!

Hands down an absolute favorite of 2019!. 5 plus stars Romantic suspense with a side of steam, great entertaining banter and amazing characters made this story an absolute pleasure to read! Alex and Eric have found a place in my heart and I loved everything about them! The suspense had my heart all a thumping and I wondered in which direction the story would go! Its a definite must read in my opinion and if this is how the first book of the series will be, no doubt we have some great writing to look forward to! Hands down an absolute favorite of 2019!!

Hockey and suspense a great combo. Where do I start? From chapter one I was all in with Eric and Alex’s story. Hockey and suspense, what a great combination. Eric and Alex, are two halves of a whole; they are simply meant to be. Eric is a professional hockey player, off for the summer, and now it seems thanks to his brother, he has added security specialist to his list of accomplishments despite his protests. However all that changes when he finds out the woman he is being asked to protect is childhood friend Alex. Alex is feisty, sassy and I really loved her. I fell hard and fast for Eric, he is just so swoon worthy that you cannot help but fall for him. The chemistry between Eric and Alex is sizzling and intense. Not only was it romantic but there was also drama and suspense that had me intrigued. This was a well written, steamy, fast paced story with characters you cannot help but like and relate too. I cannot wait to see who is next in this series.

Good story. A strong story, told well. Strong characters who grow and develop as you read. The intrigue is the icing on the cake.

WOW. What a wonderful story, thoroughly enjoyed it. Can’t wait for the next one from Sabina.❤️

Moonlighter. Moonlighter by Sarina Bowen Moonlighter is the first book in Bowen's new series, The Company and it features Eric Bayer, a character from one of my favorite series, The Brooklyn Bruisers. Eric is feeling the tolls hockey is taking on his body and while he fully plans to rest on his break, his brother has other ideas which include sending him to Hawaii to play bodyguard/boyfriend to Eric’s childhood friend, Alex Engeles. Given that Alex didn’t recognize Eric when they bumped into each other not so long ago, he’s not particularly eager to help but the apprehension doesn’t last all that long. I’ve had this book on my kindle for well over a week now. I was excited to read it but at the same time, I didn’t actually want to read it because then it would be over. Then when I started I worried that I’d built it up too much and that I’d be left disappointed. Silly me! I started this book and could barely stand to put it down! I’m lucky enough that I managed to read this over the weekend and only stopped for sleep. This book had everything and ticks all the boxes: the flirtation and banter that I’ve come to expect from Bowen, the sports references I love, the kickass heroine who I’ve decided is my new best friend, the somewhat grumpy hockey player I want to cuddle like he’s my own personal teddy bear, and of course, the suspense I NEVER KNEW I NEEDED!!!! This book kept me on my toes with twists and laughing at some of the comments tossed around. Bingley was a highlight for me and I’m going to request one just like him for my next birthday. Speaking of requests, I would love love love Bowen to write Max and Duffs stories sooner rather than later. I neeeeeeed more of The Company please!!! *I voluntarily read an early copy of this book. **Reviewed by Melinda for Joandisalovebooks Blog.
