Savage Son by Jack Carr Book Summary

“Take my word for it, James Reece is one rowdy motherf***er. Get ready!”—Chris Pratt, star of the #1 Amazon Prime series The Terminal List

“A rare gut-punch writer, full of grit and insight, who we will be happily reading for years to come.” —Gregg Hurwitz, New York Times bestselling author of the Orphan X series?

In this third high-octane thriller in the “seriously good” (Lee Child, #1 New York Times bestselling author) Terminal List series, former Navy SEAL James Reece must infiltrate the Russian mafia and turn the hunters into the hunted.

Deep in the wilds of Siberia, a woman is on the run, pursued by a man harboring secrets—a man intent on killing her.

A traitorous CIA officer has found refuge with the Russian mafia with designs on ensuring a certain former Navy SEAL sniper is put in the ground.

Half a world away, James Reece is recovering from brain surgery in the Montana wilderness, slowly putting his life back together with the help of investigative journalist Katie Buranek and his longtime friend and SEAL teammate Raife Hastings. Unbeknownst to them, the Russian mafia has set their sights on Reece in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

As Jack Carr’s most visceral and heart-pounding thriller yet, Savage Son explores the darkest instincts of humanity through the eyes of a man who has seen both the best and the worst of it.

Best SPY Book. I have been a die hard fan of Vince Flynn/Brad Thor for 18 years. That’s how I discovered Jack Carr. Most of the time in my experience the origin story (the first book) leaves a lasting imprint that gets you stick with the author but the rest of the books rarely out due the original. Until Jack Carr came along. This is book 3 in the series. Never in my wildiest dreams could I have imagined Jack Carr being able to out due book 1 of this series. Well he did. Not only would I say this book was incredible. I would go this far. It’s the best spy book I’ve ever read. James Reece. Wow. Can’t wait for the Amazon series coming in 2022!

Taut thriller. Non stop action. James Reece is one of a kind…

Must read. Finished this book faster than maybe any book I’ve ever finished, just couldn’t put it down!

A tuff read at times.. Very gruesome and violent at times. Somewhat predictable at others. Plenty of action and revenge.

Excitingly accurate and detailed. Great read! Can’t wait for the next one.

Jack Carr novels rock. Love his stuff.

👍🏼. Excellent

Favorite series keeps getting better!. Recommend this to anyone with a like minded warrior mindset! I promise you won’t be let down!

Excellent!. An intriguing story, start to finish! Well developed characters, enlightened detail and great twists! A must read!!

Savage Son. A great book. Kept me reading until all hours of the night and very very early morning. Really believable characters and an awesome storyline.

A great read!. I real page turner. I can’t wait for book 4 in the next Reese book series.

Savage Son. Love the ending! Cant wait for the next one!

Stunning. With amazing detail, real world comparison, and flowing prose, Jack Carr brings new flavor to the tactical thriller genre. Read them all. You will not be disappointed.

A little… over-the-top. 4.5 - plot was not as strong as previous James Reece plots. Overall great read!

Just amazing. I have not read a book in well over 15 years for whatever reason. I just finished Savage Son, the third in this series, and now plan on reading number 4. I’m hooked and hope all,of these are made into something we can watch like “The Terminal List.”

Wow!. Incredible story. James Reece is one tough SOB. starting the next book now.

Excellent Read. Highly recommend. You will not be disappoint.

ReRead. Worthy of a re-read - right away!

Another great adventure!. Fun read with lots of excitement. I didn’t want to put it down. Highly recommended!

Savage Son. Great book great series. When is the next book coming out Mr Carr?

Most Dangerous Game. From a guy who has been there, done that comes a book written from that personal knowledge. The detail in Jack’s writing is fantastic yet transitions into a truly perfect reading experience. You can feel the author’s personal connection come through as you read which delivers such an emotional response to the reader. Simply put, An awesome read!

Good read. Tire to form of his other books

Epic Story. I’m not one to constantly grab a book and read, but I picked this up at the airport waiting for a long day of flying. What an amazing story, finished it within a few days and purchased the other 2 Jack Carr wrote prior

Wow oh wow. Mr carr is flat out Amazing!!!

Savage So. Amazing right to the last page!

Savage son. Great read can’t wait for next mission .

Non stop action. I can’t get enough of Reece. And the character development of everyone is absolutely amazing. Looking forward to many years of this series.

Can’t get enough. I love the knowledge of special opps throughout. Suspense is awesome. I’m looking forward to seeing more in the James Reece series.

Savage Son. The attention to details both big and small, coupled with a new and unpredictable plot keeps me awake way past my bedtime - Stroud Evans (BU2)

Incredible. Such a great read with accurate details, suspenseful action, life like characters, and heart pounding adventures! A must read!!!

Another exciting thriller by Carr. Jack Carr has quickly cemented himself as the next great spec ops thriller author, on par with greats like Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, and Brad Taylor. Savage Son will be his next best seller as it’s his best one yet. Carr’s transition from Navy Seal commander to best selling author has been just as impressive as his long career as a decorated Navy Seal and war fighter. Savage Son is packed with action, but what truly sets it and Carr’s other books apart from other authors in the genre is Carr’s Tom Clancy-like very detailed and realistic descriptions of spec-operator tactics and weapon systems. I couldn’t put this book down and finished in a day. UPDATE: I read this book a 2nd time, along with re-reading the 1st and 2nd novels in this series, in order to refresh my memory of the storyline, before reading Carr’s new release, “The Devil’s Hand”, which is the 4th book in this series. I enjoyed this book just as much as the 1st time I read it. At the end of the 2nd book in this series, in the author’s notes, Carr gives recognition to the influence of some other great authors in the same genre, Brad Thor, Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, Mark Greaney, Dan Silva, Stephen Hunter, and a few others. I’ve read every book by every one of these authors and I have to say that Jack Carr has quickly risen among their ranks and is right up there with the best of them. The one thing that Carr has, that none of these authors have, is his 20 years of real world experience as a war fighter in U.S. Special Operation, serving in the Navy Seals as a Team Leader, Platoon Commander, Troop Commander and Task Unit Commander. Over his 20 years in Naval Special Warfare, Carr transitioned from an enlisted SEAL sniper, to a junior officer leading assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, to a platoon commander, to commanding a Special Operations Task Unit. This real world experience, as a war fighter and leader of men in U.S. Special Operation, adds a tremendous level of realism and detail to Carr’s novels that just isn’t possible for a civilian author who never served as a war fighter, no matter how much research they do and no matter how many military experts they consult with. Brad Taylor is the only other author that I’m aware of, in this same genre, who also has similar real world experience serving as a war fighter and leader in U.S. Special Operations. Like Carr, Taylor served for more than 21 in the U.S. Army, retiring in 2010 as a Special Forces Lieutenant colonel. Taylor spent 8-years in 1st Special Forces Operations Detachment— known as Delta Force. Bottom line, Jack Carr has quickly risen to be one of the best authors in this genre. This book is outstanding, just like the 1st and 2nd books in this series. I can’t wait to start reading Carr’s latest masterpiece, “The Devil’s Hand”.

Home Run. Jack the books keep getting better. Keep them coming

Tired, tired, tired!. Savage Son (#3 in the Reese series) was more of the same! Reese saves the world, kills the bad guys, survives against all odds, etc., etc. I finished it, but it’s the last Carr book for me. The lengthy passages on weapons, alphabet agencies, implausible plots just dragged me down! I surrender!

AMERICAN heroes. Book moved quickly-have enjoyed all 3 books. Write more!

He’s back.. Jack Carr / James Reece. This man will have you hooked. I have already got 3 people hooked into the story.

Savage son. Not very good. Was unbelievable in several chapters.

Outstanding. Jack Carr delivers yet again in the third installment of the saga of Janes Reece. Ride along as he explores the dark side of man that few even want to acknowledge exists. Gritty, raw, edge of the seat reading with just the right amount of humor and love story to entice any reader.

Five Stars. Utterly satisfying. This guy plays all four quarters.

Great book. Great book

Wanders and delivers!. Read the first two and enjoyed both and this adventure didn’t disappoint. The story is all over the place in a terrific way, linear structure most authors follow isn’t here but it still ties together really well. Highly recommend.

Fast paced thriller that’s hard to put down. In the third installment of James Reece we get to see the growth of him and how special family does mean to him. Wonderfully written book that will surely make it onto the small screen soon. Great work Jack.

Shallow plot, confusing. Disappointing. Like a fourth grader wrote it.

Best Book in the series. Great book from start to finish. Best of the series so far IMO

Excellent Book. The plot was bananas, couldn’t put it down

Good series. The book is well written and the series enjoyable. The main character almost reminds me of the Clancy character John Clark - older, gritty, old school persona.

Page turner. I could not put it down. Great story telling

Riveting Storyline. This is a darker storyline compared to Jack’s other books, but thrilling and a pleasure to read. I definitely find myself captivated and even feeling emotions of the character described at various scenes throughout the book. Excellent read!

Jack Carrs best book!. This is a great book my favorite out of the trilogy thus far!

Savage Son. Contrived characters and plot; each villain dastardly and deserving of their fate, each protagonist superb at everything and lacking only a hero’s cape. Rated one star only in the unlikely scenario that one might find a worse book further ahead in life.

Could not put this book down. A modern thriller with great references! Very detailed with great characters. I could not stop reading, had to know what was going to happen next

A great read but. A great read but I would have enjoyed it much more without all the product placements.
