The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. A truly touching story about early traveling librarians in the Kentucky hills. It was interesting to read about the genetic disorder, that left some males and females with blue skin. It was heartbreaking to read about children & adults suffering from such extreme poverty as well as the racial stereotyping that existed. A wonderful story that will remain with you.

The racial stereotyping and poverty of these people with a life-threatening disease will urge you to learn more about this phenomenon. Roosevelt’s New Deal Acts gave birth to the Pack Horse librarians who delivered books to homes where there was no other means of getting reading material. This is a fantastic story that is a must read!
