The Gritty Truth by Melissa Foster Book Summary

A fun, sexy, and emotionally riveting new standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster. THE GRITTY TRUTH is the perfect love story for those who enjoy fiercely loyal and insanely sexy alpha heroes, smart, sassy heroines, strong family bonds, bikers, babies, and more!

Recovering drug addict Quincy Gritt has fought his demons. He’s confessed to his crimes and conquered his addictions. He’s finally ready to go after sweet, sexy Roni, the gorgeous brunette who won a date with him in a charity auction five months ago and has been putting him off, and driving him wild, ever since.

Dancer Veronica “Roni” Wescott worked hard to escape the seedy area where she was raised and followed her dreams to Julliard, only to have them shattered in the blink of an eye. She fought hard and regained her footing, but then the rug was pulled out from under her again when the grandmother who raised her passed away, leaving Roni feeling adrift in a world she knows very little about outside of dance. And then there's Charlie Hunnam–lookalike Quincy Gritt—the man whose late-night texts pulled her through her grief and have been setting her heart aflutter for months.

Quincy pulls out all the stops, determined to prove that their friendship is only the beginning of what’s destined to be so much more. Romantic nights lead to smoldering passion and a deep connection too strong to be denied. But when Quincy’s past comes back to haunt him, can he and Roni accept their new gritty truth, or will Quincy spiral back into the darkness and lose the future he fought so hard to have?

Quincy. Quincy Gritt tells the truth, even when it’s ugly, even when it hurts. He is on a road of recovery after a horrible childhood made survivable only by his older brother Tru and then his younger siblings Kennedy and Lincoln. He spent years running from himself and his actions when he was a teen. Now he is a responsible, good man. He has his past, but he is moving forward. Roni is the one that makes Quincy whole, but she has her own issues. Their paths have crossed before, but neither knows that. Author Melissa Foster weaves a story that is both sad and uplifting, scary and encouraging. She has done her homework on drug addiction and recovery, and she writes a believable story that will draw you in and keep you turning pages. I enjoyed seeing where the Whiskey’s are now, and I liked the slow growth in Quincy and Roni’s relationship. But when they finally came together, man the heat could burn you! This is a gritty story, not a light and fanciful one. If you’re ready for truth and family, love and the darker side of life, this story is for you.

The Gritty Truth - A Must Read. Real, raw and relevant. This book deals with addiction, recovery, repercussions, shattered dreams and the pursuit of love. Quincy Gritt faces his past, overcomes it and turns his life around to become the kind of man he can be proud of and hopefully worthy of love. He’s surrounded by his brother Tru and wife Gemma and kids Kennedy and Lincoln, the Whiskey clan, the Dark Knights MC and friends, who give him the security and love that was always missing with his crack addicted mother. This book is such an emotional read. In my opinion you would appreciate it more if you read Tru Blue first to understand Quincy’s past and how he’s had to fight to shed his old life. Roni Westcott has had no easy life herself, losing her dream of becoming a professional dancer in one fell swoop. Picking up the pieces she moved forward and then lost her rock, her beloved Gram. With the help of her bestie Angela, she “wins” a date with Quincy for Roni at a bachelor benefit auction, only Roni isn’t ready for this. So she and Quincy text for months and Quincy bides his time determined to prove they have something special brewing. Quincy proves to have romance in his soul, a surprise to not only Roni, but himself. He confesses “I wanted our first date to be special, and honestly, I have no idea what I’m doing. This is the first real date I’ve ever been on.” “No way” fell out before she could stop it. He nodded. “Way.” And so it begins. This book truly has it all. Smart, sexy talk, romance guaranteed to make you fall along side them, passion, patience, understanding, acceptance and love. It’s so easy to “dismiss” people for their past, not to be willing to take that chance and give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to addiction and recovery. There were times when Quincy questioned whether or not his past was fair to Roni, if he should step back, but the connection truly was soul deep. Be prepared for an emotional read, you will cheer, laugh, get hot and bothered and cry buckets! Give this book as many stars as you can type. A truly MUST READ!

Quincy and Roni. Tru was my main man until his brother Quincy stole the show and dethroned him. Grab your tissues with this book, TruBlue was raw and emotional, Quincy's book left me a blubbering mess and then put my heart back together in the end. Quincy and Roni both had an less than perfect upbringing but they each found their way. Roni with dancing until a tragic accident shattered her dreams, but that didn't stop her from dancing and doing what she loves. Quincy had to fight his own demons and make peace with his past, together with Roni they both move on together and stronger than ever. We also get to catch up with some of our favorite characters from this series. This is the book of 2020. If you don't read anything else GRAB THIS!!

Beautiful & emotional love story. Wow! What a beautiful, raw and emotional story that packed an even bigger punch to the heart than I anticipated. There is so much warmth, sweetness, sexiness and joy that comes along with all the difficult feelings as Melissa Foster yet again found the perfect balance like she always seems to do. I knew Quincy's and Roni's story was going to be something pretty special and I also knew I would fall hard for this man who is finally on the upswing of his difficult life, but nothing really prepared me for what transpired on these pages. I love both of them so much. They both have tragic pasts and together they will heal emotionally and be everything the other needs and more. The way the Whiskey family and his brother Truman champion for Quincy is so uplifting and heartwarming. And those little ones, Kennedy and Lincoln, they really get to me! They are so completely adorable and funny giving some much needed comedic relief!! Roni's acceptance of all his truths proves just how special she is and how much she loves him and how worthy he is of all of that love. Roni and Quincy may not be perfect but they are perfect for each other!!!! Every moment of this book held my total attention; I was so riveted and taken on the most amazing ride. I loved every minute of this book!

Very emotional book. Quincy Gritt is trying to put his life back together with the help of an addiction program. Roni won a date with Quincy with the help of her friends. Roni had her dream of dancing taken away from her by a car accident. He feels that she’s the one for him, but feels like she’ll leave him if she knows about his past with drugs. Seeing them go through all the problems is hard but encouraging to see them try to work them out.

OMG SO GOOD!. Quincy had a terrible childhood that resulted in him being a drug addict from the age of 14. When he finally hit rock bottom, beaten and dump at his brother Tru's apartment, he decided it was time to get clean and turn his life around. Now an adult and two year's clean, Quincy is finally living his best life. Growing up, Roni’s only dream was to become a professional dancer. She spent her whole childhood practicing to make that dream come true. One day while walking home from the store, a random bullet hits and kills an innocent driver which in turn hits Roni ending her professional career. Not being able to dance professionally anymore, she teaches. It's the Whiskey's turn to host the annual Bachelor Auction and Quincy is a participant. Little does Roni know, her friends have pulled their money together and won a date with Quincy for her. Texting for months and becoming friends, Roni finally agrees to go on a date with Quincy. Quincy and Ron are perfect for each other. Each have a past they are trying to move on from but when Quincy's past resurfaces and derails his recovery and the truth of Roni's accident comes out, will Roni and Quincy finally put it all behind them to get the HE they both deserve. Quincy is so swoon worthy!

Loved Quincy and Roni. This is a very emotional book that pulled at my heart strings. If you read Truman’s story, you will remember Quincy. Poor Truman and Quincy had such a hard childhood. I couldn’t stand their mother and what she did to her sons. I am so glad Quincy had Truman for most of his childhood until their awful mother stepped in. Quincy has been clear of drugs for two years now. I loved that he wanted to get to know Roni better, but started out with friendship and texting back and forth. I admired how strong Roni was and how she rose above some of the tragic things she went through. I was happy to see her teaching children how to dance now. The children were adorable! Quincy has such a big heart and goes out of his way to help others. It was so sweet how he put together a date for Roni. It made my heart feel good that Roni stood by him after he told her about his past and his recovery. I love children, and Ms. Foster couldn’t have made Kennedy and her brother Lincoln any more adorable than they were! The Dark Knights are such a wonderful and loving group of people. They are all just one big family and will do anything to protect and help people. It was so nice watching Quincy and Roni fall in love and how they supported each other. There is a part that broke my heart so you might want some tissues ready. If this book doesn’t touch your heart, then nothing will. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.

Emotionally gripping!. Wow, so much to say about this newest book by Melissa Foster and not give away any spoilers! Gonna be tough. I was personally reluctant to read this because of two reasons, 1-I hadn’t read Tru’s book until right before getting this one and 2-I wasn’t emotionally ready to read them. But, I am so thankful that I did read Tru’s book and now Quincy’s. Such a beautiful story or recovery, love, and family. Who could want for anything more? Melissa does a fantastic job of writing. Her characters are beautiful, smart, sassy, sexy, and oh so loving. I forgot to mention they typically face very real troubles while managing to find love and the courage to overcome/meet their demons head on. This story is so full of love and support from family and friends, it is just amazing.

Emotional story. WOW just WOW!!! This book was amazing! The Gritty Truth is about Quincy and Roni it is the 7th book in the Whiskey Series! The immediate and instant chemistry will blow you away! I have been not so patiently waiting for Quincy's story since Tru Blue came out. His story...

gritt. very sweet

Love this book!. Definitely a five star read! Love, love, love!

The Gritty Truth. What can I say, I am head over heal for these Whiskey men. You won’t be able to put this one down

Been waiting for Quincy’s story. Ever since I read Tru Blue four years ago, I have been waiting for Quincy’s story and it DID NOT disappoint! I have read ALL of Melissa’s books and I think this one moved me like no other – it was raw and truly gritty as you fall in love with Quincy and Roni but you REALLY feel their pain – his fight with his past and his addiction and hers with her accident and what she thinks is the loss of her dream to dance in front of others. Quincy is a true inspiration on how he has turned his life around and how he treats his love of Roni and her dedication to him and them, left me in tears. This is a GREAT book and I couldn’t put it down. Melissa really brought this story of these two brothers full circle!

Deserves ALL the stars!. Don’t forget a box of tissue...you’ll need it for this raw, honest, utterly beautiful story. Quincy and Roni’s story is heart-thumping, sexy, romantic and will break your heart into pieces before it gets put back together again. Foster doesn’t pull the punches with The Gritty Truth. It’s the whole package.

Heart Wrenching and Beautiful. I have been waiting a VERY LONG TIME for Quincy's book and Melissa Foster did NOT DISAPPOINT ❤❤❤❤❤, I'd give this one a bazillion stars if I could. My emotions were all over the place and the kleenex box is nearly empty. To see Quincy and Roni go thru the things they went thru as they were growing up and to find each other and a love like theirs is a miracle. Grab this heart wrenching, beautiful book and keep those tissues handy!! I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.

Tore me apart. I don’t usually like the darker storylines. But Quincy and Roni’s story tore me apart and put me back together, and I LOVED it! Quincy was darned determined to keep Roni in his life. He loved kids and his family with fierce loyalty. Their darkness was washed lighter by their love for each other.

HEA. Melissa Foster doesn’t disappoint! Toni and Quincy were 2 broken people who fell hard for each other. This book has all the “feels”-romance, passion, strength, laughter, anger, tears, encouragement , bravery, family, friendship, sadness, truth, honesty, setbacks, loyalty and just raw emotions

Broke my heart. It’s not often that a book will break my heart, and do it more than once. Quincy and Roni broke my heart twice. Fortunately, they also mended it with their strength and determination. I loved how much they loved each other, and were committed to everything. They also had the support of the whole Whiskey Family, and everyone close to them. It all made for a very special book. It automatically goes to the top of my list of Melissa Foster books. Anyone who has had someone go through recovery, successfully or not, will likely find this to be a special story too.

Tissue Warning. ***Tissue Warning*** When you have that one friend who sees you for who you are, and still thinks you are amazing. Quincy Gritt is over the top, I was a complete mess at the end of The Gritty Truth. Is there anything more sexier then a man who is honest and loving with a heart of gold? Quincy has had a ruff road in life, but he is fighting back each and everyday. Roni is a beautiful strong lady. Roni had many tragic moments in her life, that brought her to teaching dance instead of dancing professionally. Roni discovers quite a bit about herself, one being a very passionate side that seems to take one special sexy man to bring it forward. Quincy and Roni spark from the start, from their fun and sexy text, to hangout with family and friends . The moment Quincy chooses to share his past with Roni just about guts me. Can Roni see past his secrets to the man he is? Can Quincy convince her that he is worth the chance? The supporting characters are just as magnificent as they are in each and every book in this series. I loved getting to know Roni’s BFF Angela and her guy Joel. The love to purrs from this oddball family just makes me feel so deeply inriched in their family bond. I adore the quirky fun bond they all share, it all screams FAMILY. Biggs and Red moments have me reaching for a tissue every time. The Gritty Truth is the 7th book in the The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor Series. We finally get to see what Qunicy and Roni have been hinting about. Will it be a HEA? You will have to read The Gritty Truth by Melissa Foster to find out. The Gritty Truth is an emotional journey for both Quincy and Roni, and for me as a reader as well. I felt every emotion in every passage. Rated 5 Stilettos and a Recommended Read by Deb!

Great love story. After Roni’s friends won a date with Quincy for her at the bachelor auction she was a bit unsure about going on the date with him. Quincy never gave up but instead of pushing he formed a great friend foundation with Roni via texts. He was able to show her what a kind, protective and compassionate guy he is. Once that first date happened they we’re almost inseparable and having a great time and becoming closer. After a few dates Quincy made sure to tell Roni the truth about his past drug addiction, recovery and that he takes his recovery one day at time. He wants to let her make the decision on wether she wants to continue seeing him. Roni decides to take a leap of faith and continue seeing Quincy. Quincy and Roni have been through a lot in their respective pasts. I was expecting to be gutted and needing Kleenex while reading this, but it never happened for me. I’m perfectly fine with that because the love story they get in this book is perfect and there is a little twist in there that will make you think a bit more.

Finally getting to know Quincy on a deeper level!. Finally getting to know Quincy on a deeper level! With Quincy’s story, I feel like this entire series has come full circle for me, as this series literally started with Quincy making a call to Truman. Throughout the books in this series I have loved getting small bits of updates about Quincy’s character development, and I was so excited when this landed on my e-reader! After making it through detox and rehab, Quincy is over two years sober and really thriving in his sober lifestyle by focusing on helping others in the same situation. When he meets Roni, there’s a sort of pull towards her that he can’t explain but it makes him want to try an actual relationship. Roni has a difficult past as well, growing up on the wrong side of town and losing her dream and career from an accident that changed the course of her life. When Roni finally stops fighting the feelings that she clearly has for Quincy, their relationship thrives and I was so excited to see them experience many firsts together that they so desperately needed. Without giving anything away – there are so many bombs dropped in this book it had me on the edge of my seat! This is one of the must-read books of the year for me. The ending was a little abrupt for me – I wish that we had gotten a little more from it, but it did give us the HEA both the characters deserved and needed. I hope we get more from this book world from Melissa as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and grown attached to this group of characters. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Engaging Read. Quincy and Roni are perfect for each other. Their love and support for each other are tangible. They have off the charts chemistry that heats up the pages of this book. Both struggle with pasts that have molded them into who they are today. Foster always digs deep with her characters - there are layers to them - you really get to understand them and their motivations. This is one thing I really enjoy about her writing, there is always a great backstory to each lead character. Not only did I love the lead characters but the supporting characters added touches of humor, love, and really emphasized the importance of family – but family can be more than just those you are related to. This story deals drug abuse and recovery, rebuilding relationships and trust. It is well written and engaging. Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Melissa Foster broke my heart with this one. It's been awhile since Melissa Foster has broken my heart in one of her books, but she managed to do that with this story. The convoluted happenstance that occurred two years ago, wreaked havoc on both Roni and Quincy's lives. Who would've thought fate would bring them together and then force them to relive that time of their lives. For a recovering addict, Quincy has an amazing grip on life and his sobriety. Roni had to overcome physical trauma and learn how to walk again. As a dancer, and a profession one at that, the mental stress had to be overwhelming. She's scared and nervous, but Quincy is her rock. Will they withstand the havoc that happened two years ago when it rears its ugly head?

Sooooo Good. What a wonderful story! Quincey and Roni’s story is heartbreakingly beautiful, passionate and raw. They both come from difficult pasts and are real and honest and have earned their HEA. Melissa Foster balances this emotional tale with her signature humor, fun group of characters and wholehearted love.

Incredible. The story of how the Whiskeys and all others have made Quincy and Roni a part of their family is as intense as the relationship between Roni and Quincy themselves. Love overflows in this beautiful story. If you have read any of the previous books in The Whiskeys series you know Quincy’s history. Whether you have or you haven’t, it is extremely powerful when he lays it all out for Roni. We do learn some new details and the incredible way they are weaved into this story by Melissa Foster is a credit to her writing. You will have emotional highs and lows as you read. The last few chapters are both heart wrenching and heartwarming. Truly a 10 star read.

Loved. This book! It was real, emotional and raw. There were moments that brought this book full circle, while I’m not sure it was needed, it definitely added an extra layer of amazing! I love the whiskeys and the awesome family elements they add so that is always a bonus to these books!

My Past is my Burden to Bear. I have been wondering about Quincy Gritt and his story and who would be his heroine since I first met him in Tru Blue. This book captured my curiosity and led me into a story that was haunting, tragic, dark, gritty yet beautiful. I am still having pictures of the story running through my head. I knew this would be a hard book to read and for me, it was. I loved watching their story unfold and learning about both of their pasts but learning more about Quincy’s background, just made you want to give him a hug. I give Quincy credit for breaking out of his past and becoming the amazing man he is today. Really enjoyed Roni and her friendship with Angela and I love her dancing background, that was a great part of her journey and her story. These two just really deserved a break in life and deserved to be with someone who appreciated them for who they were, faults and all. Seeing them with their friendship and progress into more, was everything. I also like how Kennedy and Lincoln are coming more into their own and I love their Miss Woni and Booful, too adorable. The last few chapters were tough to get through and it makes me tear up even thinking about it, but Quincy made the responsible decision to get back on track, through no fault of his own, and with the support of his loving family and friends, left and took care of his business. The ending was such a fresh start for Roni and Quincy and their friends were right there to celebrate with them. One of my favorite quotes from this book is, ‘scars are reminders of the things we’ve gone through that brought us to this point and made us who we are’. I loved this story because it is real and raw and author, Melissa Foster, does not shy away from the harsh realities of life and I appreciate that about her as a reader and fan. Cannot wait to see what is next from our Whiskey family and friends.

Get the Tissues Ready. What can I say except...Melissa really hit it out of the park with this one!! With Quincy fighting every day to get work through his past addictions, he finally decides, after hitting the 2-year mark, that he is ready for the relationship that is budding with Roni. Veronica (Roni) is fighting her own battles, as she works to get her body back to its previous glory before the car accident that stole her dancing career. She's not sure she's ready for a relationship, especially with the external scars that she's also dealing with. Together, they both realize that together, they are stronger than they were apart and fight daily for each other to make sure they stay on the same path. But...Quincy being a sponsor for someone who is also trying to recover from her past, causes more problems in his recovery than he anticipated. Roni is still there for him...still fights the fight to make sure he knows just how much he is loved and how much everyone still believes in him! And lets not forget the big, loving, and amazing Whiskey Family!!!!

The gritty truth. Since reading Tru Blue and meeting Tru’s brother Qunicy I have been dying to have his story told. We know he has a troubled past, but the extent was not wholly known. I knew it was going to be a tough read but never did I imagine Melissa reducing me to tears and gutting me whilst reading Quincy and Roni’s story. Qunicy’s past threatens his relationship with Roni but they are falling hard and fast for each other, he believes in telling the truth and when he pours his heart out to her about his past, I cried right along with Roni. Quincy is a recovering drug addict, two years clean and a sponsor for others. He is on the way to making his life better and doing a damn good job at fighting the demons every single day. Roni also had a hard past, growing up with very little money in a bad part of town with the dreams of being a dancer. She gets accepted into Juliard which is a dream come true, only to have all her dreams shattered in an instant when she is caught in the crossfire or a drug deal gone wrong and gets crushed by a car. That was devastating for her career and the rehab she went through was tough. Their pasts collide in the present and Melissa really puts the reader through the wringer with this raw, heartbreaking and gritty read. She really did Quincy’s life justice with his story and I am glad that the wait for it was worth every moment.

Great book tissues at the ready. There are books in Melissa's series that are well worth the wait. This is one of them, we met Quincy in Tru's book when he was in a deep black hole. When he realised he needed help Tru was there for him, and with the help of the Whiskey family he is now back on the right track. Roni has a budding career as a dancer before a car accident put paid to that. With Kennedy as one of her pupils at her dance school she meets Quincy and its clear that there is a spark of romance in the air. This is a great story that has your heart pumping as you get into the story because you know something bad is going to happen but you don't know what. A great book that you don't want to finish.

Will utterly and completely destroy your heart.. Melissa Foster really was not lying when she said this book would break your heart. The Gritty Truth utterly and without a doubt ruined me. The last four chapters? Definition of heartbreak. Veronica Wescott is an absolutely terrific heroine. I fell in love with her from the very first chapter. She is incredibly faithful, proud and thoughtful. I loved her growth throughout this book; she came from being an inexperienced woman, scared to go on a date with the man who has already captured her heart to a strong, independent woman who was not afraid and was loyal through and through. I loved her character and I loved her braveness from the first page to the last. Quincy Gritt took my heart from the very beginning. As a recovering drug addict, he has been through so much in his life but his determination for a better future and helping others achieve their goals is truly inspiring. His story will break your heart, terribly but it’s all worth it. I loved how courageous he was, even from the first book in this series. He is probably one of my favourite Whiskey heroes. His story and character will forever stay with me. Together, they were absolutely beautiful. The way they loved each other was extraordinary, despite all the fears and pain. It’s truly incredible how someone can change your life for the better. Quincy and Veronica is my definition of soulmates and a couple who was always meant to be. I loved them as individuals, but I loved them even more as a couple. The Gritty Truth is currently my favourite book from the series so far, and I’m so excited for what more is to come. 5⭐️ | 2🌶 | 2.5💧

Enjoyable read. I’ve been waiting for this story since we met Quincy in Tru Blue but I never expected such powerful story that comes with laughter and tears. I loved this story so much, once minute I am laughing and then the next I was crying my eyes out. The history for both Quincy and Ronnie is so real life, Melissa has out done herself with this story!

An emotional read, but so good!. I have been waiting for Quincys book since reading Tru Blue and it is a fabulous read! There are some very powerful issues addressed in this story and I found it really hard to keep my emotions in check. It is so beautifully written, that you feel it all. You will definitely need some tissues on hand when reading. Enjoy!

Tissues required!. Quincy Gritt has worked hard to drag himself out of his drug addicted gutter. He’s finally in a stable place and ready to take a chance on love with Roni. She has had her own issues to overcome. Even though there’s something about Quincy that sends her heart aflutter, it will take a lot of courage and trust for her to accept his past. The reward is definitely worth the risk, but will it be strong enough to survive when Quincy’s past finally catches up to him? Quincy’s story was always going to be a tough one, even with the help and support of his brother and the loveable, loyal Whiskey family. At times I laughed; others it broke my heart. It is an emotional, heart felt read of addiction, acceptance, trust and love.

Loved it. This was one of the most emotional reads I have read in this series; what a roller coaster of a ride. I was captivated from the first to the last chapter. I love this series, the characters are so well developed and Melissa Foster’s writing so descriptive that I feel as though I am a part of the Whiskey family, their friends and Peaceful Harbour. This is Quincy Gritt and Veronica (Roni) Wescott’s story and oh what a story it was. As I have come to expect from a Melissa Foster story, this was extremely well written and was an absolute pleasure to read. Both Quincy and Roni have been through difficult journeys and at times The Gritty Truth was a confronting read. Particularly watching how hard Quincy has fought to overcome his demons and drugs, he has come such along way. I loved how Quincy helped Roni with her grief when her grandmother died leaving her feeling alone and lost. As friendship develops into passion and love, neither realize that Quincy’s past is about to come thundering back to haunt him and in doing so put their happiness at risk. Will Quincy go back to his old ways or will the love that Roni has for him be enough to keep him in the light and away from the darkness of his past? I was impressed with Quincy in putting it all on the table so that Roni knew what she was getting into. It took a strong, brave man to lay it all on the line, after all his past has shaped the man he has become. I loved even more that Roni accepted him and took a chance. These two belong together and I was cheering for them to get the happiness that they both so desperately deserved.

Another great read. Reading all of these in the series one after the other and this one certainly (just like the rest) has not disappointed.

Ticked all my boxes. Where to start and what to say about this very special read. The Gritty Truth is book 7 in The Whiskey’s: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor and I was excited to back in the town I have come to love. It’s a fun, entertaining stand-alone love story featuring loyal, extremely hot alphas and smart, sassy heroines and I highly recommend it to all romance lovers. Quincy Gritt is a recovering drug addict, he fights his demons on a daily basis but 5 months clean and a charity auction where he won a date with the smart, sassy Roni has him loving life. Roni also has baggage she would rather forget but it’s when her grandmother who raised her passes away she finds herself sinking more into herself and she constantly refuses to go on the date with Gritt, she feels unworthy of love but she doesn’t given the man who won a date with her enough credit, can Gritt convince Roni she is worthy of love or will his pass come back to break them...... You know you have read a very special story when the characters and their journey stays with you long after the final words have been read, and that exactly what this book did to me. I found myself cheering this couple on, I wanted them to get the HEA they so deserved, I smiled, I sighed and I loved catching up with all the residents of this wonderful town. Can’t wait for more in the series that has me feeling like I’m catching up with friends.

Brilliant! A must read. Omg! This author is amazing! The story hit me with all the feels! Loved every chapter. I couldn’t stop reading. Recommend to all

4.5stars-profound and real. 4.5 stars--THE GRITTY TRUTH is the seventh instalment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor, erotic romance series. This is recovering addict and bookstore employee Quincy Gritt, and twenty-four year old dance instructor Veronica ‘Roni’ Wescott’s story line. THE GRITTY TRUTH can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading TRU BLUE for back story and history. Quincy is the brother of Truman Gritt (Tru Blue #1). Told from dual third person perspectives (Quincy and Roni) THE GRITTY TRUTH follows the building romance and relationship between recovering addict and bookstore employee Quincy Gritt, and twenty-four year old dance instructor Veronica ‘Roni’ Wescott. Months earlier Roni’s friends bid on, and won a date for Roni at the Whiskey Bro’s bachelor auction with our hero Quincy Gritt but Roni struggled to make time for the man that stirred something deep within our story line heroine. Persistent and determined to get a date with Roni Wescott, Quincy makes plans to seduce our heroine starting with a surprise picnic in the back of his truck and a scavenger hunt where anything and everything is possible. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Roni and Quincy, and the potential fall-out as Quincy’s past is determined to destroy our story line hero. Quincy Gritt is broken; a recovering addict who struggles in the face of past regrets, mistakes and the fall-out of his own mother’s addictions on the children she left behind. Revealing the truth to Roni may threaten everything Quincy had hoped for including a future with our story line heroine. Roni Westcott was a burgeoning star at the Julliard School of Dance but an accident destroyed her hopes for the future, as well as our heroine’s self-esteem. Secrets will be revealed; issues of trust must be addressed but the past refuses to let go when the truth comes to light, and Quincy, once again, must face the demons that destroyed his life. The relationship between Quincy and Roni is one of immediate attraction when Roni’s friends ‘won’ Quincy at the local bachelor auction. For months Quincy and Roni danced around their attraction to one another as Roni battled between head and heart believing her scars would detract from a potential love. The $ex scenes are intimate, intense and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including Whiskey patriarch Biggs and his wife Red; Gemma, Tru, Lincoln and Kennedy (Tru Blue #1), Bear and Crystal (Truly, Madly Whiskey #2), Bullet and Finlay (Driving Whiskey Wild #3), Sarah and Bones (Wicked Whiskey Love #4), Josie and Jed (Mad About Moon #5), Dixie Whiskey and Jace Stone (Taming My Whiskey #6); Quincy’s friend Penny Wilson and Scott Beckley; Dark Knights’ nomad Desmond ‘Diesel’ Black and Tracey Kline; Simone Davidson, as well as several characters with cameo appearances. Little Lincoln is priceless and ‘booful’ Penny and Scott’s story is next in the novella In for a Penny, and Diesel and Tracey’s story Running on Diesel. THE GRITTY TRUTH is an emotional and heart breaking story of addiction and recovery; power and abuse; secrets, revelations, vengeance and love. The premise is profound and real; the characters are animated, impassioned, broken but healing; the romance is spicy, imaginative and flirty. Melissa Foster’s THE GRITTY TRUTH looks at courage, recovery, challenges, and acceptance wrapped in a package of romance and love.

The Gritty Truth. WOW!!!! Melissa Foster gives us an emotionally gripping and remarkably real story with The Gritty Truth. I am struggling to put into words exactly how strongly I feel about this story. I experienced every single emotion and could not put this book down the minute I started reading it. Quincy and Roni are so perfect for each other and complement each other so well. They prove that even after hitting rock bottom, as long as you have the right support behind you, you can fight your demons. Quincy had me swooning and Kennedy and Lincoln added so much cuteness to the story. For the longest time Bear Whiskey (Truly, Madly, Whiskey) has been my Whiskey and my favourite of all of Melissa's heroes and after reading Quincy's story he now has to share my favourite spot. I always love heading back to Peaceful Harbor to catch up with the Whiskey's and the Dark Knight families as they are the true definition of what a loving and supportive family is. I can not wait for Scott and Penny's story. As hard as this is to say, as all of her stories are great, The Gritty Truth is the best that Melissa Foster has written to date. The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor is a MUST READ series!!!!

4.5 out of 5. This story is of a recovered addiction and a physically recovering ballerina, both recovering from their pasts. It does not shirk away from the deep emotions of addiction, both in memory from others exposing him to it in childhood and from personal abuse of substances. Nor does it shy from the emotional toll it has on its victims. The characters are real and honest. There are two kinds of romantic love - the fire that catches on and burns like fireworks and the slow burn which grows strong over time and maintains. While the fireworks are exciting and hot, the slow burn overcomes fears and obstacles. This is a slow burn romance. At times it is frustratingly slow paced, but the end result comes fast enough and, most likely importantly, they get a HEA. This story acts almost like a perfect example, a manual of sorts, as to what addicts go through through emotionally. It’s a story about family and friends underscored by the romance. One of the deterrents to reading a series about relationships is that there are too many names to keep up with. Relevant information is given along the way, but you sometimes have to slow down and really think about who is being referred to. It makes for less of an easy read at times. It’s not a huge issue but it is something to note, particularly if you’ve read books outside of the series between and when names are similar.

The sweetest story!. What a sweet love story! I love Quincy and Roni. They were so perfect for each other. His thoughtfulness to her brought me to tears so many times.,They both had to overcome so many things in life and it shows that with the right support even when you hit rock bottom you can find your way back to the top. I felt every emotion and moment with them that I had to stay up all night reading this one. I believe this is my absolute favourite In the series.
