Lacie Romano - Wild Highway Leads to Happiness
Wow! I have to say this is one of my top five for this year! This book was the same as Runaway Road in the fact that it gave me everything I didn't know I needed in a book. This book had the angst of a second chance romance with the hurt of those who felt they were done wrong by, along with a heroine who has the strength to withstand anything (and makes me want to be as strong as she is). This book started to take me on a journey that made my heart hurt and just made me want to hug our leading lady. Too see their love play out, the enduring strength that they both possess, along with a family that I would love to claim as my own, this book made me smile and take a deep breath and enjoy how Devney Perry broke me yet put me back together even stronger than before.
coffeegoddesstmk - The Heart Leads You Home
What author is going to take a beloved children's series and build on it to create something totally new? Devney Perry, that's who. I mean, I absolutely adored RUNAWAY ROAD, the first book in Devney's Runaway series. I fell for Londyn and Brooks immediately, and I knew that this series was going to be a 'move everything around if you have to, but read this' kind of thing, because, OMG. Emotional and passionate, the books in this series are proving (no surprise) to hook me in from the first page, and keep me reading until the very last.
I love Devney's storytelling, but even I wondered how she could follow up the first book in a way that would make the rest just as wonderful. Well, she did it. WILD HIGHWAY is imbued with all of the passion, all of the emotion, all of the 'tug at the heartstrings and leave me a weeping mess' intensity that I'd loved in RUNAWAY ROAD, plus some.
Gemma and Easton are second-chance romance at its finest. There is no way in the world that these two weren't destined to be, because, even in the initial dance, you know, the one where they pretend that the other doesn't exist, the pull between them was magnetic. Their story is filled not only with passion, but with heartache, with yearning, and, finally, love, and believe me when I say that I was a mess waiting for them to get to their happy.
I can't get enough of these books, and I am dying to get my hands on QUARTER MILES, Katherine's and Cash's story, and next up in the series. In the meantime, 5 easy stars for WILD HIGHWAY, and a wholehearted recommendation to read these books. You will love them, I guarantee. ❤️
nfagnani - Second Chance at Love
Wild Highway is the second book in Devney Perry’s Runaway series. I love the unique idea of the car being passed from person to person in each book and then we get to see where it takes them. In Wild Highway, we get to join Gemma on her journey. She’s decide to sell her business and leave the corporate world behind. While she’s headed to California, Gemma makes a stop in Montana to make amends with an old friend. While she’s there she runs into Easton, a man she spent one night with before she left Montana. What ensues is a great enemies to lovers/second chance story. Gemma and Easton have great chemistry and I love their banter. As the story unfolds we see who Gemma was and who she has become and Easton helps her get to a place of acceptance. As always, Devney’s fantastic writing pulls you in and you won’t want to stop reading until you get to the end. PS: if you love a hot rancher, Easton is your guy!
Wizz456 - What a beautiful ride!
Get ready for another ride in the Cadillac as Gemma continues its journey to California and the elusive Karson. But first she is making a pit stop in Montana to make amends with Katherine, who she left behind for her life in Boston--along with Easton Greer. Will she find the forgiveness she seeks as well as a second chance at love? This is a must read book with all the feels! 5 stars
Judy Hartley - Road trips and romance..it’s the perfect summer read
Get ready for the perfect summer read! In this second chance romance your emotions will be all over the place and you’ll love every minute.
I fell into this book and didn’t want to come out of it. The amazing story telling about this family (because it’s about the family here as well as the couple!) dynamic is so heartwarming. Your rooting for this couple and while that’s happening your getting amped up for the books to come as well.
You can’t go wrong with this book, it will enhance your summer and make you want to go on a road trip to Montana!
suesunderlin - Page turner
Wild Highway gives you so much romance to indulge in it’s decadence. It gives so much small town comfort and a road trip.
I fell in love with this book. I’m an absolute fan of second chance romance and this one hit all the marks. It was unexpected and fun.
I love this series.
Virna Thompson - Loved it! Sweet second chance romance!
Devney Perry writes beautiful stories with characters you love and is a definite must-read author. I have to say I absolutely loved Wild Highway, which is book 2 in her Runaway series. Though this can be read as a standalone, the stories are interconnected and both books were great reads! Wild Highway was a sweet and charming second chance romance with all the best feels.
Gemma has come a long way from her childhood, but still looking for her place. When she decides to go on a road trip with her friend, she comes across Easton, someone she has history with. And not all of it good. Easton is definitely not happy to see her again. And yet, their chemistry is undeniable. Watching them fall and get to know each other again was everything and I loved it. Another great read from Devney Perry and one I highly recommend!
Dawbalicious - Great romance
Everything. This book is EVERYTHING a romance should be. Devney Perry writes a romance that takes you through all the feels and wraps it all up in a nice HEA. This stand alone is the second book of her Runaway Series and I can’t wait to go back on the road.
MegM927 - Loved it!
Devney Perry has done it again!!! Wild Highway was PHENOMENAL!!! I have been struggling with reading lately and this story finally took me out of my slump. It is the second book in the Runaway series and while it can be read as a stand-alone, I really do recommend reading them in order.
Wild Highway is a second chance romance that will take you on an incredible journey filled with friendships, hope, and most importantly love. It had me feeling all the feels and like with every book Ms. Perry writes, it had my heart bursting with love for the characters.
Wild Highway is a beautifully written story that I devoured in one sitting. Gemma and Easton were EVERYTHING!! Their chemistry was electrifying and they were so well written. I am so excited to see where Ms. Perry takes this series next! Highly recommend reading this book!
RochelleSpacc - An Epic continuation of a great series
This series is so good. I love that it focuses on Runaway Kids. I really loved Easton and Gemma. The second chance was off the charts. I enjoyed how he made her break down her walls. Such a great story. I am so excited for Katherine and Cash’s story and more time with the Greer family!!
sblashell - Great Story!
Wild Highway is book 2 of the Runaway Series. I love the idea that the characters are basically handing off the car in each book. In this book Gemma sets out on the open road heading to California but detours to Montana to see an old friend and make amends. While there she runs into Easton whom she spent one night with before she left Montana years earlier. Easton isn’t happy to see her and is more than happy to demonstrate that fact. This leads to a great enemies to lovers and second chance romance story. The characters had great chemistry and Devney makes us once again feel at home in Montana. I cannot wait for the next book!
@LisaHines711 - Review: Runaway 2: Wild Highway
Wild Highway by Devney Perry is the second book in her Runaway series. An interconnected standalone that is told in dual POV between Gemma Lane and Easton Greer.
The premise of the series is that there were six kids in California who were homeless but found sanctuary at a junkyard and with each other. We meet them now that they are all grown up.
Book one, Runaway Road, began with Londyn making a trip back to California from Boston to return the restored and repaired Cadillac that was her home at the junkyard to the boy that shared it with her. Londyn is detoured in West Virginia and finds her happily ever after there.
Gemma visits Londyn in West Virginia and resumes the Cadillac's journey to California. Gemma ends up detoured in Montana where she reconnects with another friend, Katherine, from the junkyard and finds love in the surliest of men, one handsome Montana rancher, Easton Greer. Gemma has sold her company, made millions off the deal, and has gone from workaholic to trying to find her place in the world. Her detour to Montana was an attempt to make amends with Katherine whom she left behind years ago when she fled to Boston, craving a big city and a chance to earn and advance. Rekindling that friendship is the start to Gemma's healing process but there is still Easton to deal with.
Well-written and well-paced there is always the perfect mix of angst, romance, depth and heat in Devney's books. Another five star emotional read that was devoured in less than a day! Enjoy!
Pokemanzz - Loved Gemma
Wild Highway is book 2 of the Runaway series, Gemma has gone from a runaway to selling her company for millions now she’s on a road trip taking the Cadillac to California finishing the adventure her friend started. Stopping at the Greer Ranch and Mountain Resort to apologize to a friend and fellow runaway for leaving without saying goodbye she also comes face with Easton the once boy who after a passionate night she also didn’t say good bye to.
Gemma has really spent her life succeeding in business but not so much in life, never forming friendships never feeling she’d be missed if she was gone.
I loved this book, Gemma’s journey to find where she belonged, finding a family that was hers. Though at time it broke my heart and I wanted to smack Easton I loved Gemma’s journey.
Devney Perry really writes characters with souls and I’m loving this series can’t wait for the next one!
MarcyMeyer - Brilliant series concept! Loved it!
The concept of this series is brilliant. I love that these characters grew up together in a junkyard. Fighting to survive their horrible circumstances. We’ve met Londyn and now Gemma so far, and I have fallen in love with them both. Gemma has a cold-as-ice exterior, but I felt her vulnerability and loneliness. It was palpable. My heart broke for her. Her connection with Montana and the Greer family was wonderful. I loved that the girls had gone there when they were young to find work and chase their dreams. Even though she left, it did feel like coming home for her. The tension between her and Easton was intense. The sparks were flying, and I loved their banter. I could feel the longing that they both had for the other, yet they were so terrified of failing. They were going to lose everything, unless someone finally spoke out. I am ALWAYS glued to the pages of a Devney Perry book. This new series might be my new favorite. I will probably say this with every new release. Absolutely loved it.
Ladydi232 - Awesome story, awesome series
I love this story!! Wild Highway is a standalone story but Gemma Lane was introduced in Runaway Road. It is her turn to take the wheel of the Cadillac and hit the road heading for California, but decided to make a pit stop.
“Tonight’s banter felt different than our normal bickering. It was almost fun. Charged. It felt a lot like foreplay.”
This story is a really quick read. Although light on angst, it packs a big emotional punch as Gemma returns to the place of her biggest regret and attempts to make amends and tie up loose ends.
“She put on such a strong façade. She was fearless and wild. But beneath it all, she was scared.”
This series is awesome and I can’t wait for the next leg of the Cadillac’s road trip.
Cursebreaker25 - Five BIG SKY STARS!!!
I don’t understand how every single Devney Perry book becomes my new favorite but... it happens every time.
Wild Highway is different than Runaway Road. It’s deeper, slightly more dramatic, and more tension filled.
I loved every second of it. Gemma is a heroine I can get behind. Wounded but strong. Soft but hardened. Loving but kinda broken. Admits her faults.
And oh Easton. No one writes Montana Cowboys like Devney Perry. Thank you for Easton. He’s not perfect. He’s surly. But when he falls... OH MAN DOES HE FALL.
Also the side characters, the family dynamics PURE GOLD. I can already see where Quarter Miles is going and I’m READY FOR IT.
Five BIG SKY stars for Wild Highway. I absolutely loved it!
Jamilagiel - Beautiful book!
Love this book so much! Wild Highway is the second book in the awesome Runaway series by Devney Perry.
Gemma Lane is my new favorite heroine by Devney. She’s strong even though she doesn’t think she is. But she is also lonely and just wanted to belong somewhere. My heart broke for her. She had a tough life and even though she had build an empire she felt very lonely.
Gemma is taking a car to California but takes a detour to Montana to visit a friend and ask for forgiveness for something that happened 11 years ago.
Easton Greer can’t believe that Gemma is back after 11 years and he wants her gone.
Holly Hot Cowboy!! Easton was perfect for Gemma and their chemistry was hot.
At first he was an jerk to Gemma but in my opinion it was completely justified. But then he began to see Gemma without the facade she had put on.
One scene in the final chapter was so beautiful and so wonderfully written. It was like watching a movie. Devney Perry is an awesome storyteller.
This book is beautiful and this series is becoming one of my favorites and can’t wait to read about the other runaways.

jennamy82 - A second chance romance with all the feels!
I loved this so much. What a journey! I can’t get enough of second chance romance and this one gave me all the feels! Gemma and Easton might be my new favourite DP couple and one I won’t forget for a very long time.
I love the premise of this series. A group of runaways that lived out of this old Cadillac whom have made something of themselves but are using the old car to reconnect with their past and find love along the way.
Gemma has not had it easy in life. From 16 years old she has had to figure life out on her own with no parental support but instead met a group of runaways and they made their own family amongst each other. Gemma has fought and came out on top and is now running a successful business but is realizing that her career is not the only thing she needs anymore to feel fulfilled and hence a road trip begins. What starts as a road trip to an old country farm to mend a friendship turns into so much more than she bargained for when she comes across her old flame, Easton Greer.
Gemma and Easton were all consuming. So many emotions and feels between these two. The enemies to lovers fibe was strong at first! Their chemistry was emotional, intense and off the charts! Although Easton resisted Gemma’s return to his life eventually he sees how perfect she is/always was for him and this connection between them I adored.
If you love a small town romance with a bit of drama, lots of swoon and all the feels, this one is for you!
*ARC received in exchange of an honest review.
N1ck1h - Wild Highway
I think we all need a Cadillac in our lives.
Mandadrummo - 4 stars
A slowish burn, second chance/enemies to lovers story, I really enjoyed the emotional connection and the chemistry between the main characters. This series has a different feel to it compared to Devney Perry’s other series, I’m super interested to see what happens in the next book!
Slp1981 - I want to live at the Greer Ranch
Once again Devney has written a story that gripped my heart from the very first page and had me going through a wide range of emotions until the very last word. I smiled, I laughed, I swooned and I cried, boy did I cry... not delicate sniffles, I cried rip your heart out, can’t even see the screen anymore sobs! And I couldn’t love this story any more.
Gemma is without a doubt, one of my favourite Devney Perry heroines, having left behind an unfit mother, and a life she didn’t deserve, Gemma found safety and family in the form of friendship with 5 other runaways at the junkyard.
At the age of 18 she, Londyn and Katherine left for Montana, finding the Greer Ranch. Londyn was the first to leave, then Gemma, but her biggest regret was always leaving without Katherine.
11 years later, on her way to drop the Cadillac to Karson in California, Gemma decides it’s time to right the wrong and visit Katherine to apologise. Katherine is happy to see her and easily accepts her apology, but it turns out there was someone else Gemma left behind and he’s not so happy to see her.
Easton Greer never thought he’d see Gemma again, and isn’t best please when she ends up right in front of him. Sure she isn’t staying long, he sets about making her want to leave as quickly as possible, but feelings begin to develop again and this time Easton doesn’t want her to go, but won’t beg her to stay.
Gemma is so strong, she has surpassed the aspirations she had for herself, becoming a workaholic with more successful businesses and ventures than you can imagine, she has never felt she belonged and no one has ever asked her to stay. Work kept her busy for a while, but she’s lost until she finds the Greer Ranch and the family who own it.
Easton is a gruff, grumpy, alpha who has wanted Gemma since they first met, but he’ll never admit that to her, he also won’t admit he wants her to stay, she hasn’t had a lot of choice in her life and he won’t take it away from her again, but when Gemma needs a nudge in the right direction, he can certainly help with that.
I loved this story, I read it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. It has absolutely everything I love about Devney’s writing and much, much more, however with the ending, I’m cursing her because book 3 is way too far away! hahaha
Another 5 star hit, and a story I know will only evoke more and more feelings each and every time I read it, which I will definitely be doing again soon.
