Daylight by David Baldacci Book Summary

In this gripping mystery, an FBI Agent’s search for her sister clashes with a military investigator's high-stakes case, leading them both deep into a global conspiracy—from which neither of them will escape unscathed.
For many long years, Atlee Pine was tormented by uncertainty after her twin sister, Mercy, was abducted at the age of six and never seen again. Now, just as Atlee is pressured to end her investigation into Mercy's disappearance, she finally gets her most promising breakthrough yet: the identity of her sister's kidnapper, Ito Vincenzo.

With time running out, Atlee and her assistant Carol Blum race to Vincenzo's last known location in Trenton, New Jersey—and unknowingly stumble straight into John Puller's case, blowing his arrest during a drug ring investigation involving a military installation.

Stunningly, Pine and Puller's joint investigation uncovers a connection between Vincenzo's family and a breathtaking scheme that strikes at the very heart of global democracy. Peeling back the layers of deceit, lies and cover-ups, Atlee finally discovers the truth about what happened to Mercy. And that truth will shock Pine to her very core.

Aweasome. Great Read

Not my favorite. I found the book a bit too predictable. Like a bad movie script. I do generally like Baldacci but I found myself giving the story the old eye roll because it moved forward in the same way a b movie moves.

Another Home-run for Baldacci. I loved the newest book in the Amos Decker series. And to bring Will Robie and Jessica Reel into the story was such a surprising and awesome development. When I got to that part I knew I would love this book. David Baldacci is my favourite mystery crime thriller author. I’ve loved all his novel series and the majority of his standalones. I can’t wait for the next novel in the series.

Dayligh. Disapointing

Not great. Again, another unsatisfactory ending.

Daylight. Excellent read - keeps you guessing the whole time all the way to the end.

Slpoyb. Very disappointing

Daylight. Terrible ending! I’m so angry!

Waiting for the next one.... Always great reads.

Daylight. Outstanding! Excited about the next Atlee Pine mission!

As Riveting and Current as any novel out there. David Balducci is a master of the high crime and misdemeanors novel. He slays with Attlee Pine and I like the way he incorporated “Superman” Puller into this one. Awesome and well worth the price.

Terrible disappointment. Clearly, this author has lost his touch. This is so slow and, really, has no wrapup in the day. Doesn’t even rate one star.

Daylight. Third in the Attlee Pine series. Started out slow but then there where numerous twists and unexpected turns. Became a very good read. But I must have missed something along the way. The ending was abrupt and in my mind garbage. Will it be resolved in book 4. Who knows.

The ending is not what you may think it is.. Great read

Rushed & Disjointed ending. Not one of his better books. Ending was rushed and disjointed. Ten or more pages would have given a more coherent ending. Leads to another book about finding Mercy which makes this book more of a money grab during a pandemic, great job David.

Disappointing Ending. I was really into the book and have the others in the series as well. Lots of action and the build up to the ending was great . . . until it all fell apart. It’s time for Pine to find her sister. You can’t come this close and end the story the way it ended, highly disappointing.

Page turner. Great read

Daylight. There needs to be a resolution in the next book regarding her sister. Four books to find out is a bit drawn out :(

Gripping to the end .... An absolutely fantastic read!

Abduction, Killing, Drugs, Lies. Sounds like real life. Compelling story with twists and turns. Of course Federal, local, and State Governments are at their worse. Friends become foes. Wasn’t excited about the ending!,

Daylight. Waste of time lousy ending no more Attlee Pine books for me. Ron M

daylight. not sure the meaning of the end???

Crime fiction?. Too much of a flight from reality

Eh.... Found it too long and dragged on and on . Quit reading after the action peaked.

What’s with the ending?. Unsatisfactory way to conclude this book.

Same ‘ol same ‘ol. Based on tired old stereotypes of Congress, often uninformed or wrong in its accuracy. Too bad. great writer, excellent characters, good narrative to carry the series.

Darkness. Very disappointed. A few times I was tempted to quit the book but I read on only to reach a very poor conclusion.

5 Stars. Almost there. This series ha taken off. Having Puller in it was the icing on the cake. Baldacci has written a killer mystery. I can’t wait to see how it ends. Pick up the Attlee Pine series if you haven’t. You can thank me later.

Just OK.. The stilted dialogue was distracting. Pine’s MMA moves read like a bad action movie . It’s all just a little much. I prefer a more carefully crafted plot with deeper character development.

Don’t waste your time. His books are usually better. First book in Attlee Pine series was better ...this one was slow and boring

Complaint. Keeps one reading with good storytelling but implausible and unsatisfactory resolution

Daylight. I really enjoyed this book. I have read all of the Atlee Pine series and enjoyed all of them! I would highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys reading.

Daylight. Long and drawn out. Not up to the usual Baldacci standards.

Keeps it lively!. David Baldacci has a gift of dialogue, excellent description of landscape and locations, and the way he develops his characters in his novels keeps you turning the pages. He throws in enough surprise and plot twist to keep any good crime mystery reader thoroughly engaged. Wonderful page turner.

Good.. Good mystery.

On and on...... It went on and on.... plot build-up good then conclusion only satisfactory.

Scattered story line. Improbable events to bring the story together. If a ADHD author on mushrooms took acid and then had a dream. Unfortunately this got published and I paid for it. Not again. Ron R

Daylight. Can’t wait for the next one!!

Daylight. Awesome read. Could not put it down!

The last one I will read. I’m sorry, but I can’t believe that Baldacci even wrote this book. I’m a fan of mindless reading, but the last few of his books are just crap. This book is like a bad ... very bad .... comic book.

Big disappointment. Cardboard characters. Convoluted plot that stretches credibility. Warning: this is not a stand alone book. Leaves major plot line hanging.

Author doesn’t know his guns. Good book, however when describing guns you can tell he doesn’t know guns. I.e. there’s no such thing as a Glock 26 full size. 26 is a compact. A full size would be a 17, or 19.

I eagerly await all new Baldacci books. This one did not disappoint, excellent as always. Great book a little slow in the beginning but picked up steam quickly another great one.

Atlee Pine series. I really love this series and I love that he pulled John Puller into this one. The book is a fun read with some unexpected turns.

So much fun. If Attlee doesn’t find her sister in the next book I might just have to wait for next next one👍

Great book!. It is nice to read a book that I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend this one!

Her comes another book...... I initially enjoyed the book. Confusing, but I followed. About chapter 70 of 78 I knew the ending. I was disappointed. All Baldacci is doing is trying to sell another book.

Not at all interesting or up to his established standards. I finished this book because I started it and wanted to enjoy it. But it is flat, not what I expected or even close to Baldacci’s standard established over many titles. Lastly it seems like a filler pub, with the sole purpose to sell one last forthcoming title where AP finally finds her sister. Well I won’t be reading that one.

Amazing story. It is a book that is tough to put down.

Daylight. One of David’s best! Excellent read and I know a sequel is coming!

Great multiple plots. This book had an amazing ability to incorporate almost real life political criminal activity (Epstein, Trump) and the terrifying story of child kidnapping.

Fantastic book. This is a cliff hanger. You cannot put the book down. I have enjoyed this book immensely. I cannot wait to read a follow up to this book. Does Atlee Pine find her sister? David Baldacci has written another great book.
