Review: Somethin' About That Boy. Somethin' About That Boy by Lani Lynn Vale is a standalone contemporary romance set in Lani's world of Kilgore, Texas. Banner Spurlock is the youngest son of Killian red "Trance" Spurlock and Vidalia "Viddy" Sheffield (Kevlar To My Vest) & Perry Street is the feisty, sporty love interest in this story. As with all LLV books I have read to date - the emotions and feelings are practically instant and undeniable between the main characters. We are back at Kilgore High School, the year after the shooting that took place in Ask Me If I Care and centered on students in the same grade as Slone who was a secondary character in that story. Perry is independent, loyal and is determined to do all she can to excel in the sports she loves. When Banner moves to town there is immediate interest, even though he ends up on the football team and in the social circles of her nemesis, cheerleader Symphony, she can't hide her interest entirely. But when the reason for Banner transferring from Louisiana ends up following (stalking) him all the way to Kilgore it uts perry in his crosshairs as well. Well-written and well-paced, another wonderful insta-love steamy tale of alpha heroes and the women that can match them step for step. Enjoy!

This book involves Banner, who’s siblings and parents have had their own books within the different series this author has had. After things get really difficult for him after a situation involving his father, he decides to relocate to the town his siblings moved to and start over there. On his first day of school, he meets Perry and is instantly drawn to her. Perry’s not your typical popular athlete – she has a close friend group and is shy while not considering herself popular. But as they get to know each other, the problem that Banner ran away from shows up at his new school and his new town and uses Perry as leverage. I loved this storyline and the character progression for these two, and loved that we got to see them get their HEA years later but also see them maintain a relationship long distance. This book is technically a standalone but because we know the rest of Banner’s family, I felt like it was an extension of their family’s books and had a backstory/understanding of the characters. I always love Lani Lynn Vale’s books and this one was no exception. Can’t wait for the next book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
