Rhage is the best. Oh man! Rhage is one of the greatest and funniest males! " Hal E. Wood" haha....anyway, you've absolutely got to read the BDB books. They are awesome. A great world to get lost in.

Wow. Great book! Couldn't put it down and totally fell in love with the hero and heroine. Rhage was sexy and funny and Mary was smart and disarming. Their story was told with just the right amount of trouble and fear and love.

Lover Eternal. J. R. Ward may be new to the scene as a writer, but she is a writer with the soul of a poet. I thank the goddess for giving her the ability to write, because if she didn't have this gift, we would not have the gift of the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Rhage, and his tremendous capacity for love, truly made me weep as I read this book. Do whatever you have to read this!!!

Even better than book #1!. After finding out the second book was about a different member of the brotherhood, I grudgingly started reading this book since I was already invested in the characters. I wanted more wrath! Well, I soon became enamored by Rhage's story and by the end found myself on the verge of tears several times. A vampire book did this? Emotionally charged with another great plot! Bravo!

Amazing journey through every book. I have never been captivated like this. I am actually IN the world with them. Living it with them. I wish I could tell the author thanks for the adventure. Love the romance love the stories and even love the little disappointments. You will laugh you will cry and you will lust. Read on!!!!

Would read on but.... I read the first book in this series but won't be reading the rest. I just don't want to read chapters about sex which continues for pages even after it's done. Actually I skip the sex scenes as best I can but still have to read about it to see if it is finished. I'm not a prude but I am a believer of Jesus Christ and I just don't feel we need to enter the privacy of someone's bedroom, even if the person is fictional. I find it strange that men authors write and sell very good and often best seller books and don't feel the need to add sex. I'm not even sure what a woman gets out of reading about it unless they are lonely and need to pretend and make believe. That is sad to imagine. I think many women think other women enjoy reading about it so they go along and pretend to enjoy it also. I bet if each woman was seriously honest they would admit they too skip those parts. It is too bad some very good writers lessen their talent by over doing the sex scenes.

Great 2nd Book - Ending Could Be Better. I really like Rhage. He stood out from the rest of the Brotherhood in book one, and I was excited to see his story come so soon in the series. He's a cursed vampire - cursed with an uncontrollable beast that is triggered by extreme emotions (paid, anger, lust). And once the beast is released, he only goes away after destroying (and eating - ew) everything around it. As a human, Mary is a bit shocked when she is dragged into the vampire world through a young man that she meets when he calls the Suicide Hotline she volunteers at. This boy is something special, and I have some strong suspicions he's a result of something from the first book, but I didn't find out and I think I may be waiting awhile for his story. But he plays a fairly prominent role in Lover Eternal and makes a great character. Anyway, Mary, she's an interesting study in opposites. She's a strong woman, but her illness makes her weak. She's incredibly intelligent, but she finds herself immersed in a world where she has everything to learn. Her and Rhage have an interesting start to their relationship as he is ordered to erase himself from her mind. But there is something about the way she speaks that Rhage needs to have. I love that something so simple as the sound of her voice is what initially draws him to her, not her looks, or having to rescue her, it was a great way to make their start different than what I usually see out there. We get to see a lot of the Brotherhood and a few of the characters from book one still pop up and I love being able to see the whole group in both books. The Lessers are still on the hunt and looking for a fight and we are introduced to a new civilian, Bella, that a friend of Mary's that seems to have more of her story to tell. A great second book, but I feel the Mary and Rhage's solution was a little contrived. It felt like Ward had written herself into a corner and used the "but then the rules changed" option instead of playing within what she had already written.

Loved it. Loved it, stays on plot, main characters are there, Mary is easy to like. The love doesn't feel pushed on you or forced. Some back stories come to light and the plot thickens for two brothers!

Wow. What a turn of events in this book. You have to read this book it is amazing. Great I can't wait to read the next one.

Great romance novel filled with passion. I enjoyed this book more than the first book. There was more passion and romance. I love the chemistry between Rhage and Mary. Mary is so strong and likeable. It's refreshing that Mary was not the typical gorgeous heroine but was plain and dressed humbly. I enjoyed the intro to John and Bella. I don't think the conflict between the lessers and BDB is strong. If you are looking for incredible suspense or action, then you may be disappointed. This book is all about the love story. The loved the twist at the end.

Sobbing!. This was one of the most touching BDB book. The love between Rage and Mary is breathtaking. I cried and laughed at the same time. JR Ward is brilliant. I want to live in the mansion......

My favorite of the series. I love,love, love Rhage & Mary's relationship. I love the way they end up loving each others faults. I also like how Rhage falls in love with Mary. It's very intense. You will love it if you like a sweet growing love between two people.

Great read!. Loved the storyline of Rhage and Mary. However, I skip all the chapters that are about the Lessers. I didn't miss a thing.

Love Rhage and Mary, and the Beginning of Z and Bella. I love this book even more than the last one. I stayed up all night to finish it. I didn’t remember this one at all, but this one nearly broke my heart before saving it at the very brink. For a Black Dagger Brotherhood book, it was sweet and heartwarming. It was also great getting to see into Z’s part a little bit. I totally forgot about his roll in this one before he gets his own book next.

Great story. All I can saw it wow. This saga just keeps getting better. I have fallen in love!

Tear jerker for sure!. I don’t think I have ever cried so hard and unexpectedly when reading a book! The behind the couch scene really caught me off guard. It was so relatable I balled and couldn’t read through the the tears! It was such a beautiful scene.

Fantastic. I did not expect to love this book. I guess I thought that it would be too similar to all the other books I've read, even though I loved the first BDB book, Lover Eternal. I was so wrong. Rhage is different from Wrath as well as the rest of the brotherhood. He has his own demons to face, personality, and way of thinking. The character depth in this installment surprised me. There was definitely more of it in this book than in the first. Lover Eternal is Rhage and Mary's story. Rhage meets Mary when she and her vampire friend, Bella, take John Matthews, a 23 yr-old mute guy, to see the brotherhood. At this point Mary doesn't know her friend is a vampire and that John Matthews will eventually turn into one. Since John Matthews doesn't speak, Mary goes to be the translator using ASL. That is where she meets Rhage. Rhage immediately falls for her, but Mary pushes him away because she has cancer and will most likely die. Despite her best efforts, she falls for him and moves into the house. They have a very bumpy relationship. Mary is constantly having second thoughts, mostly due to her worsening health. Rhage's inner beast/curse wants to come out whenever he is around Mary, putting her in danger. The lessers are also planning on taking Mary. Goodness, I was gushing throughout the entire book. What Rhage does to keep and save Mary was just so amazing selfless. Now that's true love! I'm not going to give anything away, but its just sooooo cute. Also, the mystery behind John Matthews, the pre-change vampire with the mark of the brotherhood begins. Zsadist story line with Bella starts out in this book and will continue in the next, Lover Awakened. There were many moments in this book that tore at me emotionally. I find cancer to be very scary, even though I've never had it. Mary's struggle with the disease was frightening. Even though J.R. Ward didn't go into too much detail with it, I still found myself getting nervous and scared. Rhage was there for her, which was so nice. Mary needed to stop pushing him away. At one point, I remember saying out loud "Come on! Stop it already. He loves you. Deal with it." Rhage and Mary fought quite a bit, which annoyed me because he was trying to help her. At the same time it was realistic because couples sometimes fight no matter how much they love each other. The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is about love and fighting for what you believe in. This isn't just a romance novel (and series). J.R. Ward created complicated characters. That's one of the best things about this series. I haven't read too many romance novels, mostly because the characterization is just not there. Many have flat, clichéd characters. The mythology surrounding the world J.R. Ward built is multifarious. The characters inhabiting the world are full of personality and refreshing. Their decisions are ruled by their past and who they are as individuals instead of a formula created by an outline of what is in a romance novel. These books do have romance, don't get me wrong. There is plenty of erotic love for everyone. But there is so much more to these novels then the sex. This is what makes them unique. I thought this book was fantastic. I liked the first one a bit more, probably because it was the first and my introduction into J.R. Ward's exciting and remarkable word of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. She created an engrossing story filled with love, pain, passion, and violence.

Tear jerker. Beautifully written. I was captivated and enthralled at every turn.

So enjoyable. I really enjoyed Lover Eternal. Mary and Rhage were a perfect match. They truly love each other. Not really liking the Scribe Virgin. Learning more and more about the brothers. Looking forward to continuing the series.

One of my favorite stories!. I have read this story more than 10 times. When I want a good paranormal read I always find myself back to this book. The love between Rhage and Mary is remarkable and so is their transformation throughout the book.
