Each Book Gets Better. I enjoyed this book quite a bit. There is finally a heroine who is intelligent and actually put her work first. I related a lot to Jane, as a doctor who is interested in molecular genetics, and I am glad the ending turned out the way it did. It was good to finally hear Vishous's story about his hard, tortured life. This is also the novel where John goes through his transition which makes it special. I'm not sure why others hated the ending, I thought it was perfect.

Amazing I love this series!!!!!!!. Amazing I love this series!!!!!!!

Best one. So far this is the best one. I cried, I laughed, I could not put it down. You have to read this one.

Loved it. Absolutely loved the book!!!!

Love this series!. Every one of these books has a brand new angle on the life of Brotherhood. I never know what will happen next, but I always enjoy the way each line of the plot is strained with conflict then resolved in unexpected ways. I was very satisfied with the experience of elements of both reality and fantasy mixed to perfection!

Not disappointed!. I really loved Vishious and janes story, I laughed and loved their chemistry... Not crazy about the ending though...but definitely my 3rd favorite from the series!!

Good but crap. Hate the way this ended. Have no desire to read the rest. Hate the ending. Soooo could have been better

I was really.... ...looking forward to V's book and did read the novel in one sitting. However, I was disappointed in this tale: V's suffering seemed a bit forced and the heroine annoyed me. And the ending, well, you're in for a shock.

Great book. I'm a 22year old man I've been reading these books forever I love these books!

Dynamite!!!. What take on the unexpected I love the twist and felt I was there in their worl

Lover Unbound. Fantastic! Each book in the series gets better and better. I couldn't put the book down, but also didn't want the book to end.

Worst ending to a story since Dexter. My feelings about this book were so complicated they compelled me to write my first ever review. **Spoilers ahead** A GHOST?! She's dead and...A GHOST?! This is a PNR not the Discovery Channel after dark right?!? Let's start over: We waited patiently for V's story, and it delivered right up until it imploded; and there's nothing as perturbing and disappointing as having a solid story go off the rails. You have an incredibly vivid and interesting character in V, then - in an all too rare occurrence - actually wrote a strong female love interest worthy of a great story. There were plenty of plot choices along the way serving as markers of an aging series. Some choices I liked or found livable, V's connection with Butch, teeing up John's pairing (presumably), Phury taking V's place. Some choices I found irritating, like a supposed maternal, benevolent deity being so irritatingly...... human. Also, God knows I think we're all hoping this was a setup for an overhaul of The Chosen canon. But it all comes down to the end for me. This chapter in the BDB wildly departed from Ward's own universe rules, in what had to be the sloppiest, most disappointing resolution I've ever read (but still better than Dexter so, silver lining?). Again, I ask you, she's dead and...A GHOST?! This is a PNR not an episode of Crossing Over with John Edwards right?!?? I've seen some humorous reviews alleging the jump from vampires and lessers to ghosts isn't that big - but it ACTUALLY IS. This broke all the rules - to manifest a fantastic, if incongruous ending? No, to bring about a disappointment of M. Night Shyamalan proportions. It honestly would've been less upsetting if Bruce Willis showed up at the end to tell us she was a ghost the whole time... Both V and Jane deserved way better. After such a fun, compelling, edgy ride, this was like landing in kiddie pool of Legos. If you need me, I'll be on a street corner somewhere holding a sign saying "Justice for Vishous + Jane."

So good!!!. Very very good book, not my fave but good.

Loved. I really like the different story lines these are starting to do. I’m really really interested in John’s story and can’t wait till they point 2 & 2 together. I think Z will figure it out first.

BDB 💙. Love this series

First books were great this one so so. Not digging all the gay stuff and rape in this. I really liked the first few books but now they are going out on the rails a bit. People read romances to get lost in the pages which is not easy to do when every other reference is about gay sex or gay rape. Plus the s&m stuff was not a turn on in 50 Shades and it isn't here. You end up just thinking these characters are bonkers. I read romances for the love story and ball gags don't scream love to me even if the author tries to make it mainstream by saying it's consensual. This book was a let down and I hope the series doesn't continue to this go this route. Also why are all the females not attractive and in some cases manly? Again we read these to get lost in a fantasy of beautiful people with lots of money not to read about some flat chested female or masculine buzz cut security guard that somehow snags not one but TWO male leads interests? No way not believing that for a second.

Not what I was hoping for. I blew through the first few books, and couldn't wait for V's story w Jane. But Jane was boring and so is V. Apprehensive about starting phurys story now.

Disappointing. This one was a total let down. It was drawn out for no apparent reason and it was very Wierd. It deserved less than a 4 star but due to the high of the other books prior, It survived a 4. This book was creepy, boring, and should have been better. I hope the next book is a comeback. Disappointed.

Lover Unbound. Best yet! I laughed, I jumped with shock and surprise, and I cried. Off to buy the next in series. I am well and true hooked. True?

Great read. It was a great book in the series, another one to add to the list! Can't wait to read the rest!

Love it!. This is by far the best book of the series thus far! Love, action, suspense... Wonderful. Absolute kudos! Can not wait to start the next one!!!

Worth it. This book was fun to read, but I expected a little more from the characters. Janes hard to connect to, she was kind of a drag. There are some secrets that come out that are plot twisting but the end is the worst one Ward has come up with. Given the plot twist and revelations made I expected more.

Great book. I don't know where people are getting the idea that Jane is boring ???? All the heroines seem very alike to me, and Jane isn't an exception. Her and V's relationship works perfectly, I very much enjoyed them being together!! ;) I would have preferred the ending a little different but it works.

Favorite!!. Best one out of the series in my opinion

Saddest, Darkest Book Yet - Still Love It. So much tragedy in this one. I was so excited for John to finally reach his transition (becoming an adult male), but there was still so much sadness in the milestone for him. He got his father’s/his diary, so that he at least feels like he has a connection to someone. He’s so adrift in this book. At least he’s got Blay and Quinn now. I like the connection John is forming with Z though, too. Those two kind of need each other. I just hope the diary doesn’t give him seizures. It was great seeing Vishous finally face his past, share it with someone, then open himself up. It was unfortunate how he lost it all in the end, but sort of got it back. I really didn’t remember the bombshell about his mother. I can’t believe I ever managed to forgot that one. We really spent much less time with V and Jane than we did with the other couples during their books previously, too. That was a little weird, but it worked for everything that happened in this book.

Awesome series!. Would read over and over.. Great books.. Love them all so far!

Lover Unbound. This is my 5th book in this series! I love these stories. J.R. Ward is an awesome writer. I'm about to download the sixth book. I've become an avid reader because of these books. I hope they keep coming cuz I don't want the stories to end! I get completely submerged reading these!!!

Great read.. This series is so well written and after the first few books, it still has you holding your breath. I can't wait to see what happens to the brothers next!!

V. Vishous's story and I loved it. Not only was it V but we had some Phury and John mixed. Spending time with this group of men and their women is all about the bond between the brothers and the connection they have to their women and how fiercely they cherish both relationships. I know that I am not the only one who finds this series to be amazing and because you learn about each one of the brothers you become vested in reading more of the nooks to find out their stories and she how things end up for them all.

So much potential ruined. I loved V and his relationship. I loved that Jane was smart and witty. Everything was setup great though predictable in a lot of areas (to be expected). I loved that this is the first book out of the series that seemed to have real consequences. I feel like past books set everything up great but the actual peak had no real substance behind it. This one felt like it was real. BUT THEN THE ENDING. I couldn’t do it. Threw everything off for me. YIKES. It was cringeworthy. Read it for sure, because everything leading up to the end is great. But it was a smidge too out there for me.

It's ok..... Like others, I flew through the first few books. I was anxious to read V's story because friends had told me V was their favorite. However, once I started reading I was a bit disappointed. I agree with others that it was nice to hear about V's past and there are some interesting plot twists but I absolutely hated the ending. I feel like Ward was grasping at straws and just made the ending hurried to bring the book to a close.... We've already read 800 pages.... What's a few more to give a really bangin ending. All in all I really enjoy the Black Dagger Brotherhood and I plan on finishing the series. ***SPOILER ALERT*** I really want to know what happened to Tohrment. I hope the next book or books will answer my questions!

A Bit Much Sometimes. I had a hard time buying some of this one. Vishous is quite a cold hearted vampire. His history was a rough one, and I did enjoy seeing how it shaped him and his personality. A lot more about him made sense after reading this book. I felt a little sorry for him to be honest. Although I still don't quite understand how this odd relationship with Butch fits into the whole thing. Vishous is feeling a little sorry for himself now that his bromance has found a mate of his own. He puts himself at risk needlessly and ends up in a human hospital - this is one of the worst things that can happen. Human doctors can quickly see the difference between vampire and human anatomy (and I found some of the differences to be fascinating). Enter Dr. Jane Whitcomb. We get a ton of history about her - some of it was a bit confusing. I kept waiting for her sister to pop up again in the story and she never did. Maybe she does later? There were some pretty heavy hints dropped that I kept waiting for her to appear. Jane quickly realizes Vishous is different than any patient she's ever seen before. And when she's kidnapped to keep watch over her patient after he's rescued the "I love her - but she's human - but I love her - but she's human" begins and never seems to end. Well, eventually it does, and I think JR Ward wrote herself into a corner again. There are a few times now that she's really broken the rules of her own world again. I think this was my biggest pet peeve of the series so far. She finds a way to sort of make it work, but it's not quite within the rules either. There are some pretty big reveals about some of the brotherhood, which I like. And I enjoy seeing all them in each story. Revisiting past favorites is always fun - but I wish the women had a stronger appearance as well.

Love BDB. Enjoyed reading this book, can't wait to start 6
