Picture Perfect Book Reviews
Picture Perfect by Jodi Picoult Book Summary
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of My Sister's Keeper examines the fault lines of a troubled marriage in this “unfailingly intelligent…undeniably literary psychological drama”(Booklist).
To the outside world, they seem to have it all. Cassie Barrett, a renowned anthropologist, and Alex Rivers, one of Hollywood's hottest actors, met on the set of a motion picture in Africa. They shared childhood tales, toasted the future, and declared their love in a fairy-tale wedding. But when they return to California, something alters the picture of their perfect marriage. A frightening pattern is taking shape—a cycle of hurt, denial, and promises, thinly veiled by glamour. Torn between fear and something that resembles love, Cassie wrestles with questions she never dreamed she would face: How can she leave? Then again, how can she stay?

Meh.. Droning story, a story that should have taken up half the pages it had. I probably skipped almost half of it before the end. And what a crummy ending at that. It seems as if the author went on the internet and looked at several websites about abuse. It was very impersonal, and no connection with the reality a person faces when in that situation. I’m not even going to get into what happens when a woman leaves- especially when children are involved. Don’t waste your money or time on this garbage.
Worst soap opera ever. What a waste of time. Watch a terrible soap opera instead. No depth whatsoever in this book. Cliche on so many levels.
Picture Perfect. Excellent handling of the very difficult & complex subject of spousal abuse. As always, Jodi Picoult deals with both the subject and her characters with a firm, honest and gentle touch. Her research of both the psychology of abuse and of Indian culture is impeccable.
Photo of my life. Wow! I've never read a book that so perfectly described my life! Scary. Compelling. And empowering! Jodi never ceases to amaze me!
An Eye Opener. An honest look at how we get stuck in a place we never intend to be and then fight our way back.
Picture perfect. I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book at all because it was so different than all of the Jodi Picoult books that I had previously read. However after reading a couple of chapters I started to really get intrigued by Cassandra and was curious about what had happened to her. By the time Alex Rivers was introduced into the book, I was totally hooked and literally couldn’t put the book down. Jodi Picoult did a fantastic job of keeping me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and praying that Alex and Cassandra would have that happy ending to their story, but as in real life there is not always a happy ending. Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite Authors and she never disappoints me. I will always be looking forward to her next book. Sincerely, Joyce Catron
Amazing. What a brilliantly crafted story. Jody Picoult has woven a tale with delicate threads, overlapping, interwoven, and fabricated with the skill of a master seamstress and created the equivalent of a fabulous ball gown complete with rips, tears and glorious imperfections. Her characters are flawed but so incredibly flawless. This book may be my favorite.
Shocking but true. Another good page turner. Depicting true life events that unfortunately can happen.
Not what I expected..... I'm truthfully only on page 20 but this book is the driest JP book I ever read. I wasn't a fan of Lone Wolf, and the book so far reminds me of Lone Wolf. After having just read Faith and The Pact, this book is moving impossibly slowly. I can't say that I will finish it.
Picture perfect. To unbelievably real, accurate and sadly true. God bless the author for yet another example of the right thing to do. And the cycle continues. Lb Milwaukee WI
Picture Perfect. I love this book! I have read this book five times, because I always have loved it. My only complaint is that the storyline moved very slowly. I like details, but that was extreme. I love this book, and always will.
Complex, unexpected, and a great read!. This was a wonderfully woven story! I found it to be full of pain and believable characters and hope. As a recovering battered woman and child of an alcoholic parent, I could relate to Cassie’s relationship with Alex in all of its history and dimensions. Alex wasn’t presented as just a bad guy. (We’re all full of good and bad, and it’s when this balance becomes unhealthy that abuse happens.) And the ceremonies, rituals, language of the Lakota Sioux added a richness to this book that could not have been better if it was imaginary! This was a wonderful story, and I look forward to reading more stories by this author. — Cindy, Tucson,AZ
Picture Perfect. Like all her books, this kept me running back to my IPad kindle whenever I could to get as many chapters in as time would allow. Very hard to put down. I love Jodi Picoult's writing style. I am ready to pick out the next one to read!
Too artificial. Too far from any kind of reality to be thoroughly enjoyable.

Easy read!!. I really enjoyed this book! Great characters and I liked how the book would go from the present to the past then back all within a chapter but I didn't care for the ending. The book just abruptly ends. Definitely need a second book!!!!
Great book!. Very insightful into human relationships
