Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward Book Summary

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other—six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now, a dutiful twin must choose between two lives...

Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood's bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.

As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body but his heart for herself- she sees the emotionally scarred male behind all his noble responsibility. But while the war with the Lessening Society grows more grim, and tragedy looms over the Brotherhood's mansion, Phury must decide between duty and love.

A good set-up. Phury & Cormina’s story is not the most riveting but it’s an important one to tell. The big thing about this book is the other story lines it sets up…John Matthew and Xhex, Quinn & Blay, Lash. And of course the introduction of Lassiter who is one of my favorite characters of the whole series.

Fire Your Editor!!!. I have read hundreds of books and have never written a review. The editing on this book is atrocious! There are hardly and spaces between scene changes. You read one sentence and the next you are completely confused. Whole sentences are combined and a lot of misspelled words. Like I said I have never written a review but I really want my money back. That is how bad the editing is on this book.

Lover engarbage. Omg what happen J.R.? Were you rushed w a deadline? I mean the whole “wizard” showing up out of nowhere and his drug addiction. More annoyed than anything. I felt zero compassion for Fhury. The timeline was all over the place. For that I blame the editors. This was a pretty big miss for me.

Not the authors best work.. I don’t know what went wrong with this book. The characters are likeable but I am bored. There are too many side stories going on, such as with the villain, and a club/bar owner. Nothing is really happening with the main characters and im on page 200. I have skipped so many pages and the nothingness just keeps coming. I enjoyed several of the previous brotherhood books, I thought I would like this one too.

Blast. I am such a huge JR fan and love the Brothers but This story dragged on and on. My least favorite of the series. Phury deserved a better love story. Cordial was a bore. My least favorite shellan.

Amazing I love this series!!!!!!!. Amazing I love this series!!!!!!!

People were a bit harah. There was only one spot that wasn’t spaced properly for me. The grammar is because the author is writing from the perspective of the characters. Mr. D is a Texan lesser with bad English and grammar. So naturally, the writing will reflect that. It isn’t because it’s poorly edited like so many reviews state. It’s because it’s written that way. The book wasn’t bad otherwise, but I got irritated with Phury. I wanted to shake him so he’d sort out his issues. The situation was a slow burn... really slow. But otherwise it was good.

Total bore. I love the Black Dagger series & eat up each book, but this one was a huge let down!! Way to much of nothing is going on in this book. The story is ALL over the place with way to many character stories for 1 book. The love story is a total flatliner, and the lovers are boring in every way. Phury's constant self loathing & inability to step up to the plate irritated me beyond belief. If it wasn't part of the series I NEVER would have even finished the boring job of reading all of it.

Editing. The book it's self isn't that bad but the editing was so poor it was hard to get into. Just as you are sucked into a good part, the same sentence is written twice or spacing wrong and you are brought right back to reality. It would have been much better if they would have paid closer attention to what was written.

Snowstorm97. Great series. A must read.

Not too exciting. A bland book compared to JRW's others, this one made me frustrated and left me unmoved. A great build-up of characters but a hollow ending and slightly forced love story.

Not what I was looking for. As much as I loved all the books... This left me seriously wanting :( It didn't live up on the other books.

The epic continuation. Wow. The book weaves 3-4 story lines into the drama. Several climatic events. A real page turner.

Not as good. It seems with this book the author is running out of ideas for her book. It was no where near as good as the rest. It was even boring at times.

Darkest Book So Far. This is possibly the hardest book to read of the 6 I’ve already read. I vividly remember the tinge of sadness amongst the happy ending, thinking of Phury not really being in the Brotherhood anymore. I’m glad I have 19 more books to read, so hopefully that entire story arch ends up a little happier too. This was a rather philosophical book, which I rather liked.

Oh My. I love this series so much! I find I can't put the books down and can't wait to see how the Brothers are doing in each new book. But, this book was by far, the hardest to get through. It seemed that all of the back stories were too lengthy and invaded on Phury's story, which was weak and almost a letdown. I was happy with his ending, but so sad with the changes that took place (hope I didn't say too much).

Wonderfully put together. This book touches deep down on so many heavy topics of this world and graces them beautifully. Phury reminds me heavily of my brother who struggled, but finally cleaned up and did amazingly. It brings tears to my eyes to witness it in this book and feel so proud and happy things are slowly working out in both the brotherhood, and Phury’s life.

Lover Enshrined. I have enjoyed this series so much - but this book is a disappointment. Phury must be the author's least favorite brother. His story is all about fighting his addiction. The love and tenderness for Cormia (horrible name) is completely shortchanged compared to the previous books. I kept waiting for his story to get better but it never did. Still, it is a must read if you want to continue with the series. Just don't expect much.

Errors in the E-Book. I love the story, like I've enjoyed the rest of the series. But this e-book is full of typos, repeated lines of text, missing spaces, and nonsensical half-sentences. Kinda frustrating to read...

Development 👍🏼. Against other bad reviews I feel like the series is developing. The first few books in the series were interesting enough but I felt like this book really started to open up the story and intrigue the reader.

Lover Enshrined. As like all the previous books in th series, the story was awesome! However, I was very annoyed with the misspellings, miss spaced words, duplicate sentences, etc. Whomever edited the book before publishing it needs to take a lesson in writing. I can hardly wait to continue the series and I am hoping they will be put together a lot better then this one. Thank you J R Ward! You spin a terrific tale.

Beautiful!!!. What a wonderful book! I absolutely loved it! On to the next BDB book.

Lover Enshrined. Fhury has been lost since Zsadist found his mate. His drug use is increasing and his inner-demon whispering in his ear (quite literally) are about to drive him insane. Always the one to do what is best for everyone else, he's volunteered to become the Primale and mate with the Chosen (all of them). There's a lot of denial of feelings, reality, needs, and desires in this one. Fhury is the ultimate tortured soul. Cormia is the ultimate innocent. She's been manipulated and forced into a mating ritual (don't worry - no forceful sex or rape) with a vampire she hardly knows. Fhury is the perfect gentleman, perhaps too much so, and as she comes to know the gentler side of his soul, well, she falls in love. Here was the on again off again type of thing that I'm not really a fan of. One chapter they're about to get together, the next he's convinced he's no good. While it did show his paranoia and schizophrenia in a way that shows his crazy side off well. Forced to confront both his addiction and his little demon, As always, the story of the Black Dagger Brotherhood rolls right along - which I love. John Matthew, Qhuinn, and Blay are all starting to come into their own as adult vampires, but there's a wrench thrown into their lives as Torhment returns after so long. There's also trouble brewing with Lash that I expect to see grow even more over the course of the next few books. A great addition to the series overall, but I did get a little tired of Fhury's wavering over Cormia, and Cormia's lack of action towards Fhury (although I do understand why she didn't because of the way she was raised). The best part of this one was the continuation of the urban fantasy elements.

Disappointing...lack of romance. This was a disappointment. Loved the others leading up to this. Too many flip flops between stories. Lack of romance for the characters.

Wanting more. Such a great writer..love this series

Good but lots of errors in e copy. The story was good, lots of good side stories and information but the e copy had many errors and double sentences. It was a bit annoying.

Lover Enshrined. I concur with most of the previous reviews. Not the best book of the series for sure. It took more time to get thru it because it just wasn't holding my attention. I didn't dare give up however because, I'm continuing on with the rest of series. I truly love The Brotherhood & must find out what happens next! I'm hoping for a series of movies like Twilight!!

Fully committed to this series. Love these stories and I’m so involved with the whole series. Only held back a star because I hated the wizard voice. I understand the need for it, just felt the character spoke too much and often skipped over much of it. Otherwise, I love the how the series is evolving with each story.

Don’t understand the hateful reviews. Almost didn’t buy this book because of the reviews and I’m so glad I did anyway. Yes, there’s a lot more going on, and it makes the plot that much better. Seeing Phury’s battle with his addiction was built in truth. His actions were that of an addict, they were not meant to be met with a positive reaction. The mindset of an addict is not always logical. Everything was intentional, down the crossing timeline and the first time the slept together. I loved this book and am excited to see the series continue. ***I will also say this book had some potentially triggering content related to killing and John’s rape.***

Frustrated with Phury!!!. I never write reviews, but this book really frustrated me. I was diggin the sacrifices of. I could appreciate that he wanted others to be well and happy.....so I was looking for him to get a world changing happiness because of all his sacrifices. What I got was his weakness and lack of character....I won't say more but boy do I want to blast this review with some colorful choice words that belts out how I really feel.. Uuuugh, so not a fav or a fan of Phury but a must read to get to the rest of the great story line.

Another great in this series. Another great read in what has been an incredible series so far! Can't wait to read the next one.

Loved it!. I loved this book, I thought it was the best in the series that I've read since the first three.

Lover Enshrined. Another excellent, cannot put down book, in the Brotherhood series. I didn't want the book to end. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Not as good. Really weak compared to other books in series.

Worst book so far. The last one with V was borderline and I had hope that Ward would turn it around for Phury and get back to the caliber of story she did for the first 4 books but no dice. This book was awful. I skimmed about half of it. No romance, no chemistry and Phury was barely even involved. He popped up every 3 chapters or so and most of his scenes weren't even involving Cormia! Too many storylines and too much focus on the new vampires. Phury deserved better.

Worth the struggle. Well this is a transitional book. It gives you answers you have been waiting for and introduces a lot of new characters. That being said it is a tough read! I wish who ever typed this in gave more of a transition when a new character was talking it was REALLY annoying! The struggle is worth it in the end! So much happens in this book that you need to know if you love this series!

Not her best work, and riddled with typos. So far I've loved every book in the series, but this one is a bit of a challenge to get through. It doesn't help that this book is riddled with typos and missing scene transitions. The story itself is a bit disappointing but such careless editing is really unforgivable.
