The Pact Book Summary

From Jodi Picoult, one of the most powerful writers in contemporary fiction, comes a riveting, timely, heartbreaking, and terrifying novel of families in anguish -- and friendships ripped apart by inconceivable violence. Until the phone calls came at 3:00 A.M. on a November morning, the Golds and their neighbors, the Hartes, had been inseparable. It was no surprise to anyone when their teenage children, Chris and Emily, began showing signs that their relationship was moving beyond that of lifelong friends. But now seventeen-year-old Emily has been shot to death by her beloved and devoted Chris as part of an apparent suicide pact -- leaving two devastated families stranded in the dark and dense predawn, desperate for answers about an unthinkable act and the children they never really knew.

The Pact - Jodi Picoult Book Reviews

  • I loved every page (Jessiep813)

I couldn’t put this down and loved the mystery of what really happened. Great book
  • Loved it (Bunmom88)

I don’t know if any of her books that I don’t like or wouldn’t recommend.
  • Magnificent (Toby 1 kanobi)

Single handedly just changed my entire view of life. This book is so emotionally destabilizing to anybody reading it. One if the greatest reads I've ever had the pleasure of finding!
  • MUST READ (Cassidy0496)

My favorite book ever, I don't like rereading books since I know how it ends, but I have read this book three times so far. It is truly inspiring. All of Picoult's books are amazing but this is by far my favorite.
  • Page turning. (BrandonVincentPhoto)

Page turning and great plot. Tragic
  • Very well written (uprise24)

Don't know how I missed this book - thought I'd read mostly all of them. What a treat to find this one. I enjoyed it very much.
  • Great book to read. Definitely a page turner! (Popping tags)

I only just started reading J. Picoult's novels and before reading The Pact I decided to pick up one of her most recent works: House Rules. I enjoyed reading the latter but it was not a life changing read nor did it incline me to pick up another novel of hers. I gave The Pact a chance due to the positive reviews it received and I have to admit that this was a great, well written book. The writing just flows and leads the reader from one page to the next with ease. I highly recommend this book!
  • A must read (Agreader)

You will have a tough time putting this book down and after you're down you'll want to read it again.
  • The Pact (Leslieleo)

Usually like this author, but this one is a bit boring an drags out too long
  • Masterpiece (Mika4u2)

This astonishing must-read captured me. I've been a fan of this author for sometime. It's amazing how realistic her fiction can be. You could easily replace the character with someone you know.

Unbelievable!. This book is fantastic! While the story and characters are appealing and written so well that the situations seem almost real, the book really makes you question how you would react if you were in any one of their shoes. This is a book that stays with you. While this certainly isn't a fairy tale, this is definitely a story about true love and what you are willing to do for someone you love. I highly recommend it!

Horrible. this book is horrible. It might as well be free. I wasted 3 dollars. The beginning is so confusing and it takes forever to get in to. I didn't even make it past the first chapter. Save your money.
