One star is far too generous an option.. In brief, Warcraft: III is amongst the most poorly written stories I have had the misfortune to experience, and blizzard has never deserved the barest modicum of the praise it has received in this regard. The character of Arthas is the nexus point for this spectacular failure. A self-insert character that was predictably made the center piece for the story, and should have been relegated to a supporting role at most - instead tainting the entire narrative in the name of this agenda. Arthas had none of the character development to facilitate certain would be dramatic pay-offs, conducting some of the most laughable character assassinations I have seen or read. Most destructive of all, the story culminates in the single worst example of plot-armor I have ever encountered, which ultimately breaks the warcraft franchise from a narrative perspective given the immense implications of the climax. I have read several warcraft novels, and would praise the authors employed as mediocre at best, with Christie Golden the worst of such. In her defense, I do not believe there has ever been an author capable of shoring up the utterly irredeemable insult to intelligence that is the story she was handed.
Fantastic Novel!. I have been playing WoW since the Vanilla days but only recently started getting into the lore of it. I've read pretty much everything up to this point in the Warcraft timeline and Arthas has always been my favorite character amongst them all. This novel was my absolute favorite of all I have read thus far and I definitely recommend it. Even if you haven't read the novels that precede this, it could easily be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone novel.
Cool read for Warcraft fans. I am a WoW player and really enjoy the lore of the game. The story of Arthas was always really cool I thought and it was neat to read about it in more detail. I really enjoyed reading about the spells the characters used and the locations they visited, knowing what they look like and how they are in the game. Also the description of the scourge was pretty cool too.
Best Warcraft Book I’ve Ever Read. I already knew this story from Warcraft III but reading it gave even more insight into the story and mind of Arthas. I haven’t had a book that made me this excited in a LONG time.
Phenomenal entry point. As a first time player and lover of all things video games this was an amazing story. Wow. Learned so much.
Great book that ties into WoW. More adult than Richard Knack, but every bit as good.
A great read. Just finished the book, and it wasn't a fantastic read for lore lovers. I was somewhat hoping to find out more on Northrend, like how things there came to be, but otherwise a great story of Arthas' path to becoming the Lich King. My first WoW book, well worth the time and money.
Wonderful. Lovely novel of my favorite Warcraft character I read this while I was I'll and it kept my mind off it I cried during the part with sylvannis
Great Story!. One of the best books in the Warcraft universe
Loved it. Great book
Beautifully written story. I am a huge WoW fan & learning how Arthas grew up was so fascinating. How the love between him and Jaina came to be and was shattered, and also the could have been relationship with Kael'thas and Jaina kept me wanting to learn more! Amazing author!

2 thumbs up. Amazing, easy read and epic. Characters are well written and not at all annoying.
Amazing!!. Been playing wow since 2004. This is an amazing read. Ties a lot of lore together.
Great!. Book is amazingly written, as always with Christie Golden. I'd recommend this to any Warcraft fan.
