Plain Truth Book Reviews
Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult Book Summary
From the bestselling author of My Sister's Keeper comes the riveting story of a murder that shatters the picturesque calm of Amish country—and tests the heart and soul of the lawyer defending the woman at the center of the storm.
The discovery of a dead infant in an Amish barn shakes Lancaster County to its core. But the police investigation leads to a more shocking disclosure: circumstantial evidence suggests that eighteen-year-old Katie Fisher, an unmarried Amish woman believed to be the newborn's mother, took the child's life. When Ellie Hathaway, a disillusioned big-city attorney, comes to Paradise, Pennsylvania, to defend Katie, two cultures collide—and for the first time in her high-profile career, Ellie faces a system of justice very different from her own. Delving deep inside the world of those who live "plain," Ellie must find a way to reach Katie on her terms. And as she unravels a tangled murder case, Ellie also looks deep within—to confront her own fears and desires when a man from her past reenters her life.

It was okay.... I’ve read many, many books by Jodi Picoult and they’re either fantastic, or just a way to pass the time. This is the latter. It was predictable from the beginning, and infuriating because you know the truth so when she tries to drag on the suspense, you just want it to be over with so you can confirm you’re correct. This book did not need this many pages. Could’ve been half as long and no difference in outcome. I finished it feeling glad it was over and disappointed it never got better.
Love. This book was awesome, suspenseful and amazing
An excellent read by an excellent author. An engaging page turner with an interesting cast of characters. The characters are real and they make one care about their fate. As always, this author leaves no loose ends and that is appreciated.
Fast read. Fast read just because you won’t be able to put the book down
Plain Truth. This was my first Jodi Picoult book. I loved it. I now have a set of her books that are well read. She is amazing. Every time i finish her book, I think to myself.."She is good, This one is better then the last one." Keep up the great work...I LOVE your BOOKS!!!! I will be getting the Lone Wolf!!
Plain great!. Loved it! Paints a real picture of what it is like to live Plain and to be put in the Western legal system.
Amazing!. This book was assigned to me as summer reading and it was amazing I never thought that I would enjoy a school book as much as I enjoyed this one. Great plot, loved it
The Plain Truth. This book takes you into a culture that some people think they understand, but probably don’t. The story winds through a crime, the prosecution of it and a surprise ending, one which makes sense but I did not expect. Well written and one of those books that makes you think. Definitely recommend it!
Amazing. This was my first read by Picoult and it got me hook, line and sinker. She is the best example of what an excellent writer is.
Wow. ...just wow!
Good!. I thought this was a good book. She writes in a way that's easy to understand and follow. I assumed the outcome and I was right, but I was still intrigued to find out the ending.
Plain truth. I thought the book was too long and too predictable. It was a chore to finish reading it.
Very enlightening. I loved this book...the plot was electrifying!
Amazing!. Loved the ending. Made me sick to my stomach ughh
Excellent. A vibrant look into the Amish world.
plain truth. excellent
The best!. One of the best books I've read in a long time. This is a must for any library!
Plain truth. As always Ms. Picoult delivers a wonderful, engrossing read. Every one of her books that I've read have seemed like she had lived the scenario, which, of course, would be impossible. She takes us to new, current places and makes us think. I'll read her books until I sadly run out.
Plain Truth. Once again, Jodi had me riveted with a story line that wound its way around a lesson about an Amish lifestyle.
Repetitive. Interesting subject, but I thought it was too repetitive, which made it a bit boring for me.
One of her best. I loved this book. I admit, I am a fan of Jodi Picoult, but she had me from the start, and I just had to keep reading to find out how the story would proceed. I like how the author bought the reader into the ‘plain’ world. She gave me a greater understanding that I hadn’t had before.
Plain Trueth. I loved reading this story, had trouble putting it down, learned a lot about the Amish society.
Stunning. This book is simply amazing. Jodi Picoult has done it again.
Plain Truth. Loved this book. Learning about Amish community very interesting.
Amazing. :)
Surprisingly amazing and thought provoking. I don't know why I expected anything less than amazing from Jodi Picoult, but this book really surprised me. I read the entire thing in one day, definitely worth reading!!
Plain Truth. An amazing read with lyrical descriptions of both characters & plot. In true form, the author gives reason for your hair to stand on end & your breath to leave your body.
Plain Truth. A very good book riveting clean. Jodi picolt is such a good writer I am so glad to see she could write a book without using ugly language.
Plain Truth. Excellent!!!!
Plain truth. Certainly not my favorite Jodi picoult book. Kind of boring, quite predoctable
Fabulous. I loved this book! I thought it might be boring because I don't have a personal connection to the Amish faith, but it didn't matter. I read it in a couple of days, I couldn't put it down. There were a couple of things I predicted, but that is just a testament to how well rounded and consistent Jodi's characters are. I was sad when I finished it, simply because I wanted to keep reading. I know I will re-read this.
