World of Warcraft: The Shattering by Christie Golden Book Summary

In the New York Times bestselling tie-in to the World of Warcraft game expansion: Cataclysm,
Thrall, wise shaman and the warchief of the Horde, senses a disturbing change.

Long ago, Azeroth’s destructive native elementals raged across the world until the benevolent titans imprisoned them within the Elemental Plane. Despite the titans’ intervention, many elementals have ended up back on Azeroth.

Over the ages, shamans like Thrall have communed with these spirits and, through patience and dedication, learned to soothe roaring infernos, bring rain to sun-scorched lands, and otherwise temper the elementals’ ruinous influence on the world of Azeroth.

Now Thrall has discovered that the elementals no longer heed the shaman’s call. While he seeks answers to what ails the confused elements, he also wrestles with the orcs’ precarious future as his people face dwindling supplies and growing hostility with their night elf neighbors.

The fate of Azeroth’s great races is shrouded in a fog of uncertainty, and the erratic behavior of the elemental spirits, troubling though it is, may only be the first ominous warning sign of the cataclysm to come.

Amazing Read. Just finished the book, and just wanted to say that Golden had outdone herself again!

The shattering is magnificent. This is a fantastic book, well written, well paced and amuse read especially if you are a world of Warcraft fan. Even if you are not, it's still a great read.

Lovely book.. Upon having read this book... Rather during reading--I found myself unable to stray far from it. I needed to know more and keep reading. It was fascinating. I kept waiting and waiting for the world to break... Christie, the only negative thing I could say ... Is that your depicting of the cataclysm ... Was not ... Cataclysmic. However - the rest of the book - let alone the many other books she has written was/are superb. No complaints from me ... Just a good natured jab. :). If you like World of Warcraft at all ... Thus is an absolute must have. The storyline was superb ... Wonderful build ups and great character development even if a bit cliche for the genre. I love it and recommend it absolutely. Great work once again Christie.

Golden is golden. I'v have most of the wow novels . If this is half as good as Arthas then I'll be pleased. Christy is an awsome author. This book is well worth the read.

Cover art. U have it wrong I thought I had 2 of the same book fix It apple show some respect

Simply awesome. Simply put - a great book, highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys World of Warcraft lore.

The Shattering:Prelude to the wrong cover. Wonderful book that further pushes the World of Warcraft lore. However the cover displaying as Thrall:Twilight of the Aspects is very bothersome for my growing ebook collection. Please fix this.

15$ please.. I read the sample, I am truly amazed how I want to read this book. As well as her other Warcraft books. Anyone got 12.00$ I can borrow to get this book?!?

World of Warcraft the shattering. Good stuff

Cover art is wrong. Love the book, but can we fix the cover art please? It's currently displaying the cover art for Thrall:Twilight of the Aspects. I'd much rather have the unique cover art. I may be OCD, but please fix this.

Excellent read!. World of Warcraft: The Shattering was an amazing read, and I enjoyed it thoroughly after reading Arthas by the same author.

Very Entertaining. This book is a great read. I enjoys it very much, not only is it a wonderful and insightful story to player of World Of Warcraft, it is also a great book for anyone who enjoys suspense, action, and fantasy. Defiantly worth the price, one of the better books I have read in a long time!

Excellent book. If you play WOW this book is a must read. It'll explain what the main characters in the game did prior to the Cataclysm. I couldn't put it down. Great job Christie!

A great book!. This is my first time reading both a Warcraft book or a Christie Golden book and let me say that it was amazing! I am an average fan of World of Warcraft and wanted to get more insight on the lore of the game, which is the most interesting part of Warcraft. I found it in spades! Christie Golden writes is the way I pictured the figures would speak and act. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and now look forward to her other works, Arthas and Rise of the Horde. If you have even half a passing interest in the story of Warcraft, definitely do yourself a favor and pick this up!

A Compelling Story that Fills In what Is Missing in the Game. Most World of Warcraft players will see almost nothing of the events of this book. No secret SI:7 missions. No magnificent duels. No secret rituals with ancient tablets. Yet these events are key to understanding the changes coming with the release of Cataclysm. And on top of that, a highly entertaining novel that I could not put down. Get this book if you want even the faintest inkling of what is going on.

A great read. It's a shame that Azeroth won't see most of the events from this book, but the lore gives an excellent background for the upcoming expansion. If you have any interest in the lore behind the game, this one's a keeper.

Please fix cover. The cover of this book is wrong please fix

Havi Blanco. This isn't about wow it's about a book u haven't read

Not what I expected, but great. This was my first experience reading World of Warcraft "lore", but as someone rather new to the game, I found this book fascinating. It went to such depth to explain the characters and build them up. While I was really expecting a book about the shattering itself, this lead up has me all the more excited for the release and I truly look forward to reading more.

Cover is fine.. If you buy it it's normal. Derp

A fun read for any WoW fan. I've been playing WoW since 2006 - and I've mostly stuck to in-game story telling. I read this book to get more insight into the coming Cataclysm expansion and I was pleased to get that and so much more. The author does a fantastic job of putting you in the characters, providing just the right mix of pacing and backstory to keep the pages turning. I did feel the ending was a bit abrupt - so, I'll have to wait till the December 7th launch of Cataclysm to get the rest of the story.

Won't buy until cover is fixed. Please fix the cover. I will not buy until it shows correctly.

Best Warcraft novel to date.. All told, The Shattering is one of the finest, if not the finest, Warcraft novel to date. Those hoping to bridge the gap between Wrath and Cataclysm will need it, and those stinging from the poorly-received Stormrage will appreciate the heart and soul that Golden, a WoW player herself, has given their favorite heroes and antagonists. Verdict: Any Warcraft fan would be remiss not to read this book, both for its respectful treatment of the Warcraftuniverse and for its wealth of lore information.

Was expecting a lot more from it. Very well written but kinda dull and does not really bridge into the new WoW expansion to much save explaining what happened to three characters. How do you not include Deathwing in this book?

Wish I could give 6 stars!. Absolutely amazing! If you play WoW, this is a must read! I literally lost sleep because I just could not stop reading, and I'm typically not much of a reader. The writing quality itself is nothing less than superb! And one thing I loved, was that it held very true to the game's Lore, Any questions you have about Cataclysm will be answered by this book. And I can honestly say it's one of the best I've ever read. Kudos Christie!!! Keep up the awesome work!

Good read. It is an interesting tale to say the least. I've always been impressed with WoW's lore and this book captures it.

Seriously iTunes?. When the heck are they going to fix the cover??!!!

Great Read.. Good tease coming into Cataclysm. Lots of Interesting backstory and a must read for any World of Warcraft fan. Dec 7th can't come soon enough.

Great. A fabulous prelude and guide to greater understanding of the events to come.
