Excerpt:
Catherine didn’t know if she wanted to tell Lord Ashworth about her retreat. She had come upon it not long after her marriage to Edgar, and it had offered her the only peace she was to know for a long time.
It was dangerous to share the only thing that belonged to one. Yet the thought of spending an afternoon with the earl in her most treasured place, sharing a leisurely meal, beckoned her. She glanced shyly over her shoulder to see if he still followed.
Lord Ashworth rode only a few yards behind her horse, and he grinned when their eyes met. He had a lazy, sensual smile and, when he looked at her like that, she felt an odd breathless catch in her throat. She wondered how it would feel if he were to place those warm lips to hers instead of the back of her hand.
Oh dear! There went that catch again.
Within moments they entered a clearing. Catherine dismounted without waiting for the earl’s assistance and swung her arms wide as she turned in a circle about the shaded copse. “What do you think?” she asked.
The earl, still astride, cast his gaze slowly around the tiny glen as he studied the scenery. He then turned his attention to Catherine but did not speak. A suggestive grin broke the calm of his expression as he continued to watch her. “More beautiful than I could have imagined,” he murmured.
Simple statement that, but it held a wealth of meaning. Catherine dropped her arms while staring back in fascination. Her mouth fell open and her breathing quickened. The air vibrated with unspoken words as they shared a moment of absolute understanding. The specter of desire had been brought into the open and was acknowledged.

In the Garden ofTemptation. An easy read. . .romance and a little intrigue make for a good way to spend a quiet night. A little touch of the 60's Madame X was thrown in, but not too many readers are old enough to remember that classic movie!

Great Story!. In the Garden of Temptation was a great first book in the series. It was interesting to see how the main characters fell in love even though they were unavailable to each other. And how after all the misunderstandings they got together again for their HEA. What I think the author should have done was explain a little the motivation behind the villain's plans. Why he turned out the way he did, rather than just alluding to it. besides this it was a great read and really kept my attention. All ready to get to the next book!!
Obvious. I enjoy a good story as much as anyone but I have to say that I am glad I did not spend any money on this. In a nutshell, the story is centered around rationalizing and justifying adultery...and then celebrating it with an unhealthy sense of entitlement. the lead characters were too dumb to live and the self pitying moans due to the consequences of their own actions was laughable at best. I found myself cheering for the villain when I wasn't busy skipping several pages at a time.
Wow. Wonderful book!. I loved it. It was hard to put down. I loved Adam and Catharine together. And their child. Edgar was evil. But I loved the happy ending. I Recommend It. Nice easy read!

Not my cup of tea. Rule number one adultery is not romantic. Is there anyone out there who at one time has not been cheated on in a relationship? I have to admit to not finishing the book as the premise was so abhorrent to me. The characters did not appeal to me at all.

Good Read. If you can get past the adultery part - the first time the sin is committed, even though very wrong, is still acceptable. But after that, there's no excuse for the hero/heroine to continue on. I kept hoping for her to grow some back bone and leave the baron, but maybe during the time period where women basically have no rights whatsoever, she didn't have a choice except to stay on. Other than that, this book is an enjoyable read and I look forward to the other two books in the series.

Only worth it if it's free. Rather annoying. The language and depictions are laughable. Italicizing words was unnecessary. The only interesting character was the baron; the hero an heroine were rather abominable and their motivations made little sense.

Simply brilliant. This is a fantastic book, I would have been happy to pay a fiver for this, it is beautifully written, and leaves you feeling sorry for the terrible callous man that is the root of all evil, until a very happy ending..... But not for all.

For seven years he was unable to consummate the marriage but he wanted an heir, so he kept bringing men around and leaving his wife alone with them, hoping she would screw someone and get pregnant. Finally an Earl is attractive to her, but she didn't get pregnant, so the old Baron takes her London for the first time and hopes she and the Earl make woopie. They do, and once she's pregnant the Baron convinces the Earl's mother to convince her not to tell the Earl about the pregnancy and that if she loves him she should let him go without creating a scandal, rather than running off with him and ruining his social standing and political career. Baby is a girl and the Baron is becoming more unstable. He dies. Happy ending
Easy to read and enjoyble. The characters grow on you in this easy to read book! Was a tad predictable .. But hey.. Isn't that why we read these romance books!
Light read. Nothing here to test the grey matter, just a light easy read. Adam gets played by the Baron, Catherine the Baron's beautiful wife is a pawn in the same game. Can they find their way out of the game without hurting anyone. A bit predictable, a well edited story with a HEA. Certainly gives you an idea with a foray into the small mentality of the Regency ton, especially if you are innocent fodder for their voracious bad mouthing.
Brilliant read. Absolute page turner and written very much in the style and voice of those times. Left me wanting more!
