The Sixth Man by David Baldacci Book Summary

In the #1 New York Times bestselling thriller that inspired the TV series King & Maxwell, two private investigators dig into a killer's past--but when their search threatens powerful enemies, it could cost them their lives.

Edgar Roy--an alleged serial killer--is awaiting trial. He faces almost certain conviction. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are called in by Roy's attorney, Sean's old friend and mentor Ted Bergin, to help work the case. But their investigation is derailed when Sean and Michelle find Bergin murdered.

It is now up to them to ask the questions no one seems to want answered: Is Roy a killer? Who murdered Bergin? The more they dig into Roy's past, the more they encounter obstacles, half-truths, dead-ends, false friends, and escalating threats from every direction. Their persistence puts them on a collision course with the highest levels of the government and the darkest corners of power. In a terrifying confrontation that will push Sean and Michelle to their limits, the duo may be permanently parted.

A spectacular read!. Baldacci is clearly at the top in this genre. The Sixth Man is as good as it gets. Page turner, provocative, surprising and well planned!

Wow!. This was simply fantastic! Characters were well defined. Surprise after surprise. Did not figure out the ending. Loved it!

The Sixth Man. A fabulous read! Fast paced, exciting with sub-plots galore. I love David's voice and am looking forward to his next novel.

The Sixth Man. This is one of David Baldacci best books. A great unexpected ending.

The sixth man. Very entertaining, made me wait but had guessed how it was going to end. Still, a very good read.

Mixed bag. The book dragged for me. Literally took me days to read which is rare. The last few chapters pulled it up from a 1 to a 3. Not his best work.

Sixth Man. Absolutely action packed thriller from beginning to end! Sean and Michele were up against more intrigue and unexpected twists and turns then ever before. A great fast packed read from start to finish!

The Sixth Man. Another great, can't put it down page turner!!! Do it every time...wait, wait, wait then read it as fast as I can! Please write faster........ I'm waiting.

Very good!. I really like! When you start, you can't stop read it

The Sixth Man Review. One of Baldacci's best! Just the right amount of twists and turns to keep a reader turning the page.

The sixth man. Really loved this book! One of his best

Baldacchi at his best!. Best ending I've read from a good action thriller in a long time! Literally had to wait 'til the last sentence to end the suspense. I could have read the book backwards and it still would have been suspenseful and exciting. Enjoy!

Best One Since The First. I absolutely loved the first KaM book, and whereas I also enjoyed the ones leading up to this book, this one was without a doubt above and beyond.

Exciting. Awesome read. Held my interest every step of the way. Felt like I was in the story. Looking forward to many more books from David. Truly enjoy his work.

Good but could had been better. I really enjoyed reading this book but the endwas not whati expected ad totaly makes the holwe story kind of worthless... In any event, is a good book to read.

What an awesome book!. Baldacci has done it again. If you're looking for a thriller, this is it. Once you start you won't be able to put it down.

Great read. I love to read this author, this is a true page turner.

Sixth Man. This is a must read, can not put it down gem. Loved every page!

The Sixth Man. As always, another great read

Excellent. This was an incredible novel and coincidentally the first work of fiction I have read on the iPad. Double bonus, one I will always remember!

Best Book Read This Year. Great read. Lots of twists that kept you unbalanced as the tale progressed.

Suspenseful. Lots of twists and turns

The sixth man. Awesome

The Sixth Man. Love these characters. They get better with age and togetherness. Love the author.

Sixth Man. This book came together quite well, I thought... I loved it..This book was awesome!!! David Baldacchi is an incredible spy thriller writer.. The best I have ever read.. Lots of research done and not a lot of fill in with over-descriptions, like so many other writers....You can't put it down!!!

Fast moving page tuner. Couldn't put it down. One of his best.

Good book. Entertaining

Hollow effort. The entire book never came together for me. The storyline was clear and crisply presented, but the characters - both main and ancillary - were presented narrowly and without a lot of color. Their motivation was rarely well understood: from the trooper who keeps sticking his neck out for no good reason to a knee-breaker turned good guy to a whiz-bang genius CEO who abruptly needs help formulating and executing the most basic of plans to a former spook with an endless Rolodex of friends and favors to call in, the interactions of the characters was lost in sporadic, halting plot development. Baldacci does good work. This isn't one of them, though.

Captivating. Exciting to the very end. Another book by Baldacci that keeps you up till all hours of the night.

The 6th man. I'm a total Baldacci fan. Once you start reading his books it hard to stop. Take this from someone that really doesn't read much, so when I'm done with one of his books, I'm sad, cause I don't like when the story ends. Need more pages in this story so I can keep going. Thanks for the entertainment Bob

The Sixth Man. His best book since Camel Club.

Great read. Really entertaining.

Another Winner. I really liked this book and wasn't disappointed.

Not great. 1. I thought the book was confusing. It would be easier to follow all the new characters if Baldacci would universally refer to them by first name or last name, not by first name sometimes and last name at others. 2. I'm not sure how this made it past the editors, but I was really (perhaps irrationally) annoyed that the book repeatedly referred to the person who paid the lawyers as the "client." No, no, no. King's misuse of the term made me unable to accept the idea of him as a lawyer because any lawyer, or even law student, knows the person you are representing is the client, whereas the person paying the bills is just the person paying the bills. 3. The ending was great though.

It's ok. Not what I would call edge-of-your-seat thriller but a good escape from reality read.

6th man. As always, a gripping story with a twist at the end. Rreally enjoyed this one in e book form.

The 6th Man. Great read and action!! Alway with a twist at the end!

The Sixth Man. I have read three of the Maxwell & King novels .Without a doubt this was a white knuckle ride. I am so glad Michelle survived. I am Frick'n exhausted. Keep up the GREAT WORK!!

Boring. This book was so uninteresting that I stopped reading it 25% of the way through. Characters don't come alive at all.

Great!. A page turner!

Page turner. I hadn't read the previous books in this serious but I will now. It's a well written crime drama that keeps you turning the page. the "twist" at the end was a little predictable but in short it's a fun, easy reading, page turner and worth the purchase.

The Sixth Man. Another great read by Baldacci.

page turner with a surprising oops. I truly enjoy Mr. Baldacci's books. This one is just as good. However, for his high quality work, there is a major oops in the opening chapters. One of the murder victims is found shot in the head in his car - blood and brain matter splattered all over the interior of the vehicle. The entrance wound is a close range shot between the eyes...with no exit wound. How does one get shot in the head at close range, no exit wound, and yet has his brain and blood splattered all over the interior of the car? Other than this rather major oversight it's a great book.

A Baldacci Classic. Definitely one of Baldacci's better books. A real page turner!

The Sixth Man. Best read in a long time!

I just I. Thanks pEaeaEd

No surprise.. No surprise here. Another fabulously written drama by DB. Twists and turns will leave you begging for a stopping point so you can sleep and return the next day to the mystery. Each book he writes is a violent chase of unforeseen events that keep you glued to the words. There is only one set that trumps the King/Maxwell series and that is the untouchable Camel Club series. Keep em coming Baldacci!

Another great story from Baldacci!. I don't know how he does it, but David Baldacci is a true master at his craft!

Excellent!. Excellent reading from the first page to the last. Great ending!!

Unpredictable. Great Book. Amazing story. Sean and Michelle are up again into an incredible plot. Mr. Baldacci has made it again.

The 6th man. Three stars for a fast pace and somewhat over convoluted story. The nearly constant dialogue mode gets tiring. Still, not a bad read. Zelph

The sixth man. This would make a fantastic movie.....very good read
