The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - Robert Louis Stevenson Reviews
Still relatable today
A Gothic Masterpiece
As with Shelley's Frankenstein, there's nothing like the original. Too bad, as with Frankenstein, that so many terrible imitations spewed forth among us since.
I loved this book. If you like the classic gothic horror stories, I definitely recommend.

I thought I knew the story

I've seen pretty near all the Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde movies made. I thought I knew the story pretty well. Hollywood really does a good rewrite of Stevenson's novella. Reading this story gave me quite an insight into why this story has captured the imagination of the public for so long. I tried to imagine what it was like to read this story for the first time. It is wonderfully suspenseful. Told from the view of Jekyll's friends and acquaintances before we read Jeykell's own description of what happened in his laboratory, it captures the imagination. This is a good read.
This book is a true classic. The storyline is absolutely fascinating, but the style of writing is pre-1900 which make certain parts very difficult to understand. Though this story is great, I wouldn't suggest this to an amateur reader for the style is very complex.
The movie was better
it smelled good
This book made me happy. I kept though my house was burning. Thank god I have insurance.
