Last Light by Terri Blackstock Book Summary

The first installment in a thrilling series in which a global catastrophe puts a family’s survival at risk—and both reveals the darkness in human hearts and lights the way to restoration.

Birmingham, Alabama, has lost all power. Its streets are jammed with cars that won’t start and its airport is engulfed in flames from burning planes. All communications—cell phones, computers, even radios—are silent. Every home and business is dark. Is it a natural disaster, a terrorist attack, or something far worse?

In the face of a crisis that sweeps an entire high-tech planet back to a time before electricity, the Branning family faces a choice. Will they hoard their possessions in order to survive—or trust God to provide as they share their resources with those around them? Yesterday’s world is gone. Family and community are all that remain. And the outage is revealing the worst in some.

Desperation can be dangerous—especially when a killer lives among them.

A lot of God mixes with heavy handed parenting. This book was ok. I think the author had a great idea that could have been excellent if it started off religious. Instead, 25% into the book, you get smacked with His presence, and His protection. I have nothing wrong with religion, but I almost feel like I got roped into a pyramid scheme. Such potential and then all of a sudden right when you’re getting hooked, here comes bible study. All in all, it was a good story with good character development. I just think it would have been better if it was more about the outage and less about personal reflection. In closing, the one thing that irked me the most was Doug’s Rolex stopped working during the outage. This wouldn’t happen. A Rolex doesn’t have semi conductors and runs the same way as a manual wind watch but happens to have a weight and spring that winds it for you. It was a small detail, but not correct.

Great read. This book has a lot of twists, if you’re used to reading mysteries you will figure out some but there are enough surprises that make this book a great read

Love this book. Wow hands down best book!!!

I love it. 10/10 I loved this book, God is good.

Last Light. I already wrote a review for this book but I’ll gladly write another. This is the 3rd time I’ve read this book since it was published. Every time I see something I overlooked the other times. What happened I. This book could very easily happen in America. One EMP over the major electric grids would do it. The God who created the universe and mankind is still in control and waiting for us to recognize His sovereignty. He sent us Jesus as an example of how we are to live and treat others but we crucified Him. He took all our sins upon Himself so we could have everlasting life with Him in heaven. The gift of salvation is easy and free but we have to take it. Just as the family in Terri’s book discovered, “I can do all things thru Christ that strengthens me”. God bless you Terri. G

Excellent eye opening. This book is a wake up call to the possibilities of this happening it’s been talked about for a while. Look at the things that have already happened but not to this extent yet. The Bible tells us to be prepared for all situations and plan. There’s all kinds of people but the worst will come out even in best of people. Safeguarding the home is of vital importance. It woke me up to some things that we need in preparation for the worst scenario. Seeking him before and during is essential. This was an excellent well laid out book and moved smoothly main characters are developed and I enjoyed this author.

Great read for our generation. This book is very eye opening. I think everyone needs to get their hands on it and make time to read it. Life is so fast paced right now, that we are almost spoiled with the existence of technology or just "worldy" possessions in general. This book has the potential to change a lot of lives. I think this book is a great way to communicate God's love for us!
