A Quirky Tale. A well written tale, engrossing and fun, in a darkly comic way. Reminded me a lot of McMurtry's "Lonesome Dove" books, full of quirky individuals moving through life not understanding their own motivations, much less those of others. Hard to put down, a recommended read.

A Surprisingly Warm Comedy About.. Killers. This is the kind of book which, if read by the Coen Brothers, would cause them to proclaim "Here is our next movie!" Eli and Charlie Sisters are assassins. They murder a number of people throughout this book. And yet you leave the book with a surprising amount of compassion for them. Highly recommended for those who enjoy dark (and occasionally violent) comedies.

A new take on the genre. I loved this book. Couldn't put it down for long.

Gripping. It's been a while since I've read a book that left me eagerly awaiting to pick it up again during times I had to set it down. Very cleverly written, both thrilling and comical at times.

Just Barely Edged Out By "True Grit" For Me. I think the Coen brothers should have made this into a movie instead of redoing "True Grit." That said, I really do like the book. A modern "Western" with all the cliches, all turned on their heads!

Tremendous!. This tale of two brothers named Sisters unfolds in a fresh way. Each chapter is short and sweet but tells a hell of a tale. The author uses a wide vocabulary to spin his yarn. I loved every word of it and wished for more. Great humor, great story, great read!

Fantastic and fast read. Read this in one night; downloaded the sample due to the positive feedback and purchased it due to the intriguing and warm writing style. From the start of the book the characters are fierce yet sympathetic and realistic for the entirety of the story. Can't wait for the author's next book!

Brutal. A little too brutal, raw & violent for my preference but interesting complex characters in an interesting complex story.

The Sisters Brothers: a hard book to put down. This is a surprisingly good book recommended to me by a friend who, now I know for sure, has great literary sense. From start to finish the reader is taken on a wonderful journey back to "Gold Rush" days including all that was good and bad. A fun read for sure. MSA

100 Words or Less. Brilliant. It’s not often a novel balances a unique voice with amazing story. This western isn’t anything new … if you’ve experience with traditional western movies/books, then the characters and plot won’t seem original. However, the story’s mixture of humor and honesty and gritty violence is fabulous. Halfway through, it became apparent that the two main characters are despicable, immoral killers; yet I liked them so much. They were funny and endearing … and then would suddenly explode in abject violence. The mixture is near impossible to pull off, but deWitt does it with style and skill.

Easter Egg?. I haven’t read the book, but am I the only one who thinks that the cover has a skull on it? Was that intentional?

the sisters brothers. An absolutely wonderful book. These hired killers worm their way in to your heart. Funny, touching, suspenseful....unforgettable. I could not wait to see what happened to Eli and Charlie, but I didn't want the story to end.
