Really?. Read this book because so many recommended it....all I have to say is this was terrible!!!! I can't believe they made a TV series from this...I love historical fiction but this was just lame.

Outlander. An nonstop action novel!!! I saw the first series before reading the novel!!! The novel is pretty true to the series!!! The way that people put women into a lower class would get my blood going, but Claire puts men in their place. Highly recommend this book!!! Can't wait to read the next book in the series!!!

Outlander. Fabulous book! Be prepared to become obsessed with the characters, and never want the book to end.

One of my favorites of all time!. Just finished reading it for the third time. And it doesn’t get old! She’s a fabulous writer! Love the characters and descriptions of life in the 1700s.

Ms. Gabaldon's prose and eloquence has catapulted me into time with sites, sounds, and aromas that the characters experience demonstrating the ability of the author to draw empathy from her readers and swaddle them in 18th century Scotland. Bravo, Ms. Gabaldon, for sharing your brilliance to the world and for introducing me to The Outlander...!

The series is better. If you are wanting more details after watching Outlander on STARZ then this is for you!! But honestly for me, I was looking for detailed sex scenes that absolutely did not happen in this book. While watching the steamy scenes in here he series, I could only imagine what would happen in the book BUTTTT that was exactly opposite!! The book leaves you hanging as far as details of the sex .. just watch the series and you will save your money!!

Outlander. I began the Outlander series as a way of understanding my partners fascination with the relationship between Jamie and Claire. After reading a few chapters I saw why she loved the book so much. While we both come from Scottish roots, Wallace and Davison, it was easy to fall into character and escape the days stressors with a distant adventure. I press upon book 2 with vigor and an eye for more.

Outlander. I’d started watching the show and loved it. But I knew the book would be a little different. I’ve been sucked in to the Outlander world and adore it. Diana Gabaldon is a wonderful writer. She give you a bit of everything and not once have I felt bored with it. Currently on the fifth book.

Outlander. I had originally fallen in love with the first season of this show so I skipped the first book and started reading dragonfly in amber. I read through all the books in a matter of a few weeks because I just couldn’t put it down. During this droughtlander I decided to go back and read the first one. I am so happy I did there always so much more detail in books and I loved a few of the scenes in the book much better then the show. I highly recommend reading the series.

The best book I have read in years!. The depth of the characters in this novel is astonishing. I love that this novel is quite lengthy, and yet, because it's such a page-turner, it is read easily. I have fallen in love with the characters and I feel very much that they could exist! Galbadon gives life to the landscape of Scotland. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a thrill.

Totally over the top. In 1945 twenty seven year old Claire is married to an older man and living a happy, quiet, life in England. By some sort of paranormal magic while on vacation in Scotland she is transported 200 years back to a primitive time in the Scottish Highlands. She encounters violence, unspeakable evil, and passionate love. Her adventures seemed totally over the top with improbable situations and unbelievable near death escapes. People shot full of holes recovered as good as new in a few days. Overlaying all of this is her passionate, numerous, and graphically described love trysts with Jamie — a caracture of the handsome, total hero. Presented with the opportunity to return to her former life and husband the question is — will she? I found the book to be entertaining,with interesting take outs on Scottish lore and customs, but weighed down by the many drawn out and tedious narratives and conversations that added little or nothing to the plot. The ending was an obvious set up for the sequel that did occur. While it was an intriquing time travel story, with lots of romance if you could call it that, it would have been a better book without so much depiction of degrading conduct and completely improbable situations. I give it 3 stars. — di pinto

OUTLANDER. Outlander is my favorite book series. I’ve read this first book of the series probably seven times and it never fails to be a book that I can’t put down! Now on to a reread of book #2, Dragonfly in Amber!

Trigger Warning. It’s a well written and thought out book but it goes too far. I stopped reading after a character was forgiven for spousal abuse. I tried to watch the show and stopped after the rape of a child scene. Too much.

AMAZING!!. Diana Gabaldon has ruined me! This book, this entire series, this story, I love it all. Diana has created such a strong female character in her stories. She's created a strong male character as a companion. Together you have such a passionate pair in Claire & Jamie, that create an incredible life and adventure together. I was hooked immediately& couldn't put the book down once I started it. I read every waking moment that I had.

Great Romantic Epic Story. Loved this first book can't wait to read all 8 in the series.

OUTLANDERS. OMG, I love outlanders, I started watching the series and I loved it. I’ve always wanted to read the books and I love how they changed some stuff. Reading the book gave me a whole new perspective of Outlanders.

Absolutely fantastic!. This is one of my all time favorite books, and in it, Diana Gabaldon has created a timeless masterpiece. I can’t count the number of times I’ve read it—certainly more times than the number of books in this series, as each time she writes a new book, I can’t stand it, I have to read all of them over again, so my memory is refreshed, and I can capture each nuance of the whole story. But, I also get impatient, waiting for the next book in the series (although I completely appreciate the time, effort and work she puts in each of her books, to make them as realistic as possible to the period of time that they represent), and I go back and reread them all, as well as all of the books in her Lord John series, just to kind of feel like I am revisiting old friends. An excellent book, and truly exceptional series! I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good story, and appreciates fact based historical novels!

Outlander. OMG!!!!!!! Is 12:52 am Monday the 28th of October and I just finish the 1 book,and will have to go to bed now since I have to get up in about 6 hours but it was worth it, a few weeks back my coworker who is reading the 4th book, lend me her copy of the first in paper back and since, don't like paper backs was reluctant to read it but I did and it took me a while to get started in about when she get to the castle I had to get my own copy and decided on the iBook version and it was worth it and it took me this weekend to finish the first in its entirety because I couldn't put it down of course I took restroom break and ate and sleep some for the most part I could not put down and will start this morning on the second at my lunch break at work. Don't give up on these books the are long but worth the story.

Outlander. A few years ago I opened this book expecting a cheap romance that would be read in a short time. The sun rose to me still reading this book because it kept me enthralled front to back. It's a time travel/historical with plenty of action and romance. A wife on her second honeymoon in Scotland gets dropped into the 1700's and mets her soul mate. Together they travel and fight and survive the brutal situations they keep landing in. Love it. Just bought copy in iBooks and keep getting caught reading at work.

Simply Amazing. This one of those books where you wonder how in the world someone could write this. All the historical parts and all the small details seem to make something impossible feel as if it were the truth. It's a long read but well worth it. This series will be my summer.
